GTA IV felt more like a GTA game, but it was filled with glitches and annoyances.

Gta v depends on if you have a great imagination and a some what high level of intelligence to fully enjoy what gta v online offers

That video is the embodiment of nitpicking, it only touches on slight differences in gameplay and physics. Some elements touched on can be considered better in IV, some better in V, but not all in one or the other.

It doesn't touch on anything else like story, mission structure, graphics, or soundtrack, parts of the games that are definitely worth comparing.

I've played every mainline 3D GTA game and can safely say that overall, V is a better game than IV.

V is always the best in the series:

MGS V
SF V

Leading people into sticky bomb boobie traps down allys stairs is funny or killing someone in their car and then sticky bombing their car with them respawning and running to their car drive off abit then...boom.

V's story, mission design and soundtrack are all inferior to GTA IV's.

V's story is unfocused and inconsistent, it's missions rely too heavily on gimmicks and are linear, and there are only two good radio stations.

I would say a downgrade in NPC AI, removal of realistic physics, removal of indoor environments, and complete lack of gameplay combat mechanics is more than a slight difference.
People who say that video nitpicks can't come to terms with how awful V is, so they need to lie in order to cope with the disappointing downgrade.

Yes that is a little bit of a disappointment, but there really weren't even that many in IV, especially ones worth going to often. I'd say this is fair considering how much larger the map is in V and they still had to cram it onto the 360/PS3.

As someone who drives a car GTAV has more realistic driving physics then GTAIV

GTA V's soundtrack had incredible variety in genres. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it's shit.

I can guarantee you no one noticed these things when they played the game for the first time. Rockstar did well in compensating for the the things removed. They are by far the best devopers out there no one can compare

You had complete freedom with regards to how you approached those firefights in IV: you could pick enemies off from a distance with a sniper rifle, you could block entry points with vehicles to prevent enemies from fleeing or flanking- It was all up to you.

Meanwhile, in V, you can fail a mission for getting in the wrong car.

Also, you're forgetting the fact that IV also had some good missions that don't fit your description. Three Leaf Clover and Final Interview are good examples of this.

Fucking this, I've put about 120 hours into IV and the Episodes, and I barely noticed these changes going intp V.

And I especially didn't feel they detracted from the game as a whole to the point where I felt V is inferior.

The sucker punchers are usually 1-hit kills.
There are some basic melee mechanics implemented like the dodge and that kind of garbage but nobody cares since you have a fucking gun and you can actually buy one at ammunation instead of stealing it/buying it from the Jamaican.

Is IV's PC port playable by any means nowadays?

Using a 2GB 760 with a i5 4670k

both were good in my opinion. I liked 4 a little more going on when it came to the world. It's map was full and the world felt more alive.

There is absolutely no room to complain about constant phone calls in 4 when defending 5, I've been playing a bit of GTA online recent and after the 5 minute loading screens literally every single time i get in a game i get a call about heists, where even if you ignore it he'll continue calling back til you answer

still leaking memory last time i played it (2 years ago) and it was a pain to setup now that game for windows has been discontinued

You aren't punished for telling the people to fuck off when you're online.
There are options to disable the other fucks from calling you
Oh, and the fatty stops asking about heists after you do all them all at least one time.
Helicopter tours, bowling, and darts invitations don't fucking stop throughout GTA4 unless you turn on that alternate mode that also disables the missions.

Having played nothing but Xbox and PS2 beforehand, playing GTA IV was a truly fantastic experience. The graphics, the scale, and the physics just blew me away.

It's the only game that's ever felt like a true next-gen game.

Nothing else since has done the same for me.
