All maps and weapons from MM9 have been added to the games, plus skins for all the MM9 Robot Masters.
A few older maps like Bubbleman have gotten complete redesigns, more maps have subtle changes like adding new paths and such.
Some weapons have been changed, the biggest ones I've noticed being Leaf Shield and Skull Barrier completely changing in their purpose.
The single player campaign has an expansion using the new MM9 maps and a couple new bosses.
A few other misc. changes like altering the team colors for better readability and making the music loop properly for stages with intros like Toadman and Windman.
It looks like a chaotic piece of shit, to be honest.
I think it would help a lot if the environment textures were desaturated a lot, though.

Use OpenGL filters if the textures give you a headache, helps a lot.

Bots suck at this game, it's not a good indicator of things. Though the game is pretty chaotic, and I can understand if someone doesn't like that.
If you're just playing the game, you won't see too much cringe.
NEVER go to the forums or the Skype chats or anything like that though, they're fucking awful.
Wait, I should also mention to avoid certain servers like Unholy Bosses, Lobstacle Course, or roleplay servers. Those are all autism magnets and the worst players to be around are attracted there (RP should be for obvious reasons, Unholy and Lobstacle Course are just shitty mods). If you stick to the vanilla game mods, or servers that just add classes and map packs you'll be fine.

It's not updated for V5 yet, so you'd have to dig up V4 if you wanted to play it, but it's entirely new content so that shouldn't matter.
