When I was a kid I thought things like growl permanently lowered my pokemons stats and used to get mad when they were used against me.

Two things involving this thing.

First, I was a retarded kid and thought "scissors" were pronounced "zizzors". So I didn't make the connection that "Scizor" was a reference to the tool.

Second, because if its red color and the fact that Scizor sounds like "sizzle" I believed for a long time it was a fire type.

In Emerald, I skipped a ton of dialogue during the Groudon vs Kyogre bit of the game and I didn't realise I had to go to a place called Sky Pillar. I spent the next month doing fuck all and managed to get my Ludicolo to level 80-ish before I came across Sky Pillar by accident.

I got stuck at Bill's house because I kept pressing a on the computer screen as opposed to the keyboard next to it. Restarted the game once or twice thinking it had somehow glitched up too.

Also didn't know how to switch out pokemon from the pokemon center either and got stuck when I needed to use an HM that none of the first 6 pokemon I caught could learn it.

As an adult I started spamming shit like swords dance/calm mind to sweep through bigger teams, but the games are so easy at this point you can sweep without setting up anyways.

There's no real need to use status or non-offensive moves against NPC trainers, the games are easy as shit. So yeah, I'd mostly just brute-force my way through everything.

Scyther was in the anime and on the cards, which is what 95% of the people think of when they think of Pokemon. Everybody knows Scyther, but only kids who played Silver/Gold know Scizor.

In pokemon silver I didn't realize you had to go back to the prof after visiting Oak, so I grinded on the level 3 pokes all the way till I got a typhlosion, then swapped back to red.
