...
Was SFV a flop?
No.
A game being qualitatively bad doesn't make it a "flop" either.
It sold well and retained players, that's all it needed to do.
Yes, when a game doesn't reach its expectations it should be considered a flop.
Doesn't mean the game is bad or good tho.
Flop is strong, but it definitely under performed, at least in the number of units sold, but it's not Stillborn bad by any means.
Shame, cause it's a great game, but I don't fell bad in the slightest fro Capcom for how and when they went about releasing it.
This is like saying a movie is a flop because it doesn't sell gangbusters 3 months after its release date.
when you spent 300mil on a game it is.
Dude, I don't even like or own the game, but you have to be doing mental fucking gymnastics to convince yourself its a "flop."
Your personal experience/opinion is not the shared opinion of everyone else.
>loosing that much money is good.
He's kinda right tho.
Yes.
>you have to be doing mental fucking gymnastics to convince yourself its a "flop."

A main series SF game still hasn't sold as many copies as notorious flop SFxT.
and sold less than pokken fighter lol
That's because it's the first SF since 3 to not court the casual audience. Hell, the vast majority of negative reviews boiled down to "why doesn't this game designed to appeal to tourneyfags, of which I am not one, not bend over to accommodate my desires?"
I don't know if I really care or not.
If the game dies to a point it is longer to be supported, then I'd be concerned.
gameplay-wise its probably the easiest SF to get into but
>no arcade mode
>no vs mode
>16 characters at release
what is this shit? Honestly after finally getting gud at KoF I just want a proper sequel to Third Strike at this point,to some extent SFV might be that but something feels missing.
What Capcom's been saying:
"As an apology, we're gonna use the money to fund future tournies."
What they should be saying but aren't:
"We're gonna use the money you gave us to actually fix our game."
Because, you know. Someone spends $60 on OH FUCK THIS let's put money on GGXrdR and KOF14 instead FUCK CAPCOM.
wasn't capcom going on about how easy getting into sf5 was now? if anything they went for the casuals first but switched gears back to tournament players when the game didn't sell like they wanted
>no arcade mode
because 3 people played it in the previous game
>no vs mode
except that did exist
>16 characters at release
just like SFIV did on launch
Why does everyone act like SFIV vanilla never existed?
The only casuals they chased were those who bitched about 1f links, who are people who still actually play fightan games. The Shadow Falls update was purely to appease the fags who wanted a storymode, aka fags who don't actually play fightan games.
KOF is great but im not into anime fightans,Tekken 7 will do if it ever come out
>kof
>anime
i think someone told you something wrong
Yes.
The game is bare bones.
It doesn't seem to play as well.
And it just doesn't look different enough to warrant a new purchase. I looked at V and said it looked exactly like SF4 on a new console.
KOF isnt anime,GG is.
not that survival shit.
>buying vanilla SF
hell no. When SF4 came out I just played with my friends until the definitive version came out.Same thing for SF5: people are playing the waiting game, which explain the poor sales.
>people are playing the waiting game, which explain the poor sales.
And that right there is the point: we are dealing with a launch title, but people are expecting something with 6 years worth of content at launch despite there being a known precedent.
Calling SFV a flop at this point is entirely short-sighted. If it reaches Super edition and doesn't generate a bunch of new sales, then it will be a confirmed flop.
