I'm taking you down with me
I'm taking you down with me
Revision or vanilla?
i guess i should re-try playing it
should i try finishing this or finish SS2 first?
Joke's on you, I just reinstalled it with GMDX earlier this week.
>stuck in revision lebedev helicopter area
they really made the patrols harder to sneak around
No reason to ever uninstall it in these days of TB hard drives.
>TFW your crippling porn addiction means you're constantly struggling to free space even with a few terabytes
I need those HD videos, user. I just can't get hard unless I can see every ingrown hair around the woman's asshole.
SS2, you fucking insect
>tfw i can't finish SS2 because after hydro i puss out from the annelid worms and spiders
sucks too, i LOVE the game and everything, but i cant deal with the heart attack of worms and spiders jumping at my face making freaky alien noises
I have gotten to Level 9 in System Shock 1 though, im close to SHODAN
Revision is nice. Turn off the new music though
I'll never understand this. Being too scared to play a video game.
It's like, don't you have any dignity? Self respect? It's just a game. Man up.
With that said, I wish I was more scared of video games. I'm a emotionally numb sometimes, when I know I should be enjoying it more or being scared.
gmdx is SHIT
new vision etc is all good
>infinite range noscope bots that cannot be stealth'd to avoid
>there are now no tools and picks lying around anywhere or hidden.
I DO try and phyche myself up knowing what im expecting and that it means nothing, but i cant not feel that just... fucking heart attack inducing shock when something like those worms or the spiders just leap outta nowhere or fall from the ceiling
its usually only specific to stuff like that though, most other shocking or scary things dont get to me, but gross and werid shit like that just gets to my core
>>there are now no tools and picks lying around anywhere or hidden
What? How on earth does that work?
it's the bots.
they deleted almost ALL the stashed items in the game. then reduced the amounts of everything else anyway.
you used to get rewarded for stealthing up behind a guy and prod/baton-ing him unconcious since you usually get a full magazine for your efforts.
now you get somewhere between 1-3 rounds at most.
it's like they took the worst part of vanilla, the artificial ammo scarcity for certain weapons forcing you to adapt your playstyle,
>and applied it to everything so you never have enough of anything ever.
by the time you GOT to the airfield with all the bots, if you've been careful, patient and clever, you're drowning in 10mm and 7.62.
and you have a few lams and a law to nuke bots, or emp nades. since it's possible to hoard the ones you get to still have a couple by then.
now with this gmdx shit you aint got fuckall of anything.
they removed 3/4 of the hidden or stashed picks and tools. so you are always hard up and only ever have 1 or 2 at most. then they made everything take more tools/picks to do.
all in the name of
>muh epik diffamukulty!!!!
but it just ruins the experience, since to do even only the main story you need to hoard and do no side quest shit at all.
im still just at the part where you're in the lobby with the guard patrols and the helicopter pad, i keep getting seen by a guards I couldnt quite see to keep track of
Worst part is, it's installed on my computer, so now I have no reason to not play it.
That's my secret OP, It's always installed
Finish it if you started, then move to ss2
yeah. you're about to hit the
>go fuck yourself
wall o' bots at the airfield.
at least in the original version you had at least SOME tools by then to take em out with to thin their numbers down.
in gmdx, none of the places that HAD law's lams / tools / picks have had anything at all. or they've held 1 item.
even if you section the levels like i did and search everything, it's not that they'cve moved things to keep the game fresh or anything, NOPE.JPG
too much efforts. They gone and deleted them all instead
i mean labbelled supply crates don't even drop anythng half the time any more
a lot of horror games focus on scares that have no real, tangible impact
one moment when i actually felt 'scared' and uneasy was my first time playing Afraid of Monsters. when you have to turn the power off in the first level, you're basically thrown into this multilevel labyrinth that is 80% pitch black and you have to rely on your finite torch as a means to navigate while dealing with these twitchy fuckers who run at you at 50 miles an hour. i fucking hated it, but it was scary
doesnt help i went and put Realistic difficulty on
The shittiest thing about getting the Dragon's Tooth is it makes all the stealth-based, subtle gameplay before it feel like a chore. I don't remember if melee was very viable before it
what's funny is I can handle and LOVE silent hill 1-3, im tense as fuck but it doesnt really get me too deep to stop playing, and even SS2 has that in like engineering and such when you're on edge for droids and hybrids that could pop in at any time, its just the annelids i just nope the fuck out
I always had the same problem with the slime things in Duke Nukem 3D, the sounds they make, the way their sprite warps and bends to simulate how they slide and pulse, the fucking horrifying maw if they get on your face, conversly, Blood im fine with, its horror sure, but its just viceral and fun, even the choking hands dont get to me though they sometimes catch me off guard
yes. melee in vanilla was very good.
a prod blast or baton swipe to the back of an unsuspecting target was always a ohko.
yep. you're in the same boat as me.
sucked into a great mod that's
>ruined by 'muh difficulty' circlejerking idiocy decisions
like the stealth pistol is even more op now... so they nerfed it into the stone age with ammo scarcity.
seriously, turn on ballistic protection, regen, the power saver aug, and speed and you're invincible to almost anything and can kill even the harder dudes with 3 or so hits
Jokes on you, I never uninstalled it
IIRC, once you're strong enough, you can cut open doors and locks and computers with that shit, which basically renders the related skills useless
>GMDX
>Give Me Deus Ex
>a mod for Deus Ex
IT'S ALREADY DEUS EX FUCKING STUPID HR BABIES GOD FUCKING DAMN IT
you're misremembering. plenty of doors even from the very beginning of the game in vanilla have INF ratings that make them immune.
Anything but Revision.
especially since they totally ass fucked about with the game's balance and ruined it.
i have never seen a mod do so much great shit, only to simultaneously ass fuck itself dead.
I was too scared to finish the Outlast: Whistleblower story.
I got up until the guy is taking a circular saw to your groin and said NOPE
What mods should I install for the optimal SS2 experience?
None.
You could get some visual updates if you want to but thats all.
You should remap the controls to something more comfortable to use and you are ready to go.
That makes things simple; thanks.
>not keeping GEP gun right from the beginning till the end
I currently own a 660 ti but plan on ordering a 1060 today.
Will the 1060 be able to handle a modded Deus Ex?
A decent computer from the 2000s could prob handle it, you'll be fine
thanks for proving my point
in vanilla you could make anything work really, unless you dun goof'd fucking hard.
in gmdx its'
>metagame as hard as possible OR FAIL without recourse.
Fuck you OP it was already installed
>always stop playing after I finish up hong kong
Am I missing out?
Normally I would agree, but-
>With that said, I wish I was more scared of video games.
Have you tried Alien: Isolation? It's a horror game done absolutely right.
It's not as good, but there's some satisfaction to be found in killing Gunther and Simons
