A lot of baffling design decisions marrs an otherwise okay game.
I never found the small text to be an issue until I tried playing it with a friend, but the main issue I have is that you can't recruit party members on the BLADE console on top of recruiting them face to face, that way you could still get a hint when the H2H time is, but you don't have to tour round all of NLA just to set up your party
Outside of a couple of shitty songs I thought the ost was excellent
Exploration was top tier
Normal combat was great, skell combat was mediocre
Story was okay, but seemed very light
Side quests were great
Environments were gorgeous
Not since vanilla warcraft has a game had me so hooked. 200 hours and no regrets
The twist ruined it for me.
I can't fap to gynoids
Looks interesting but I can't justify buying dead hardware for two games
I think it's long past time that I should still need to own a nintendo console to play a nintendo game.
Xenoblade chronicles X and sm4sh?
>sm4sh
Funny joke.
Bayo 2
Honestly not trying to start shit, XCX does look like a good time but for fuck's sake
I just cannot understand why they did some of the things they did. most notably the way you recruit party members like said
I agree with all of these. Ground combat was so much better
There are other Wii U games you should really look into user. Bayo 2 and XCX are must buys for it though
It's probably another case of "what I see doesn't interest me, but I'd have some fun if I tried them"
Real hard to please the past few years when it comes to vidya
>empty and small world they have to aritifically make it feel bigger by giving you Skell/Dolls later on
>forced to run around i circles multipme times just to collect the random items
>story feels incomplete
>many companions but only a few feel like actual characters
>not enough variety in armor and skells
It was a fine game tho, just hope an eventual sequel improves some things
I think it's long past the time where you should kill yourself
It's still quite playable despite having a lot of large problems because it excels in exploration.
Literally just anime girls and calling it a robot.
Ground combat being more interesting was the case in Gears too.
>empty
That is just wrong. There is something to do in every corner of the map. Granted, once you accomplish it, there's little reason to go back, but that applies to about any game. It has one of the best open worlds there is. GTA V is an example of an empty open world.
Good game, waiting for a sequel.
>buying dead hardware for two games
>two games
Why do we allow Sex Genie to post?
My thoughts are that that's a bolter and she needs to give it back to the adeptus astartes.
Probably my GotY of 2015, I really enjoyed it.
They nailed exploration really well, especially with how you could break it with jumps and turn it into a semi-stealth game with all those high level enemies.
You really should try to try some of them. Here is a list of the Wii U games I have
The Wonderful 101
Bayo 2
Tropical Freeze
Zombi U
XCX
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Wind Waker HD
Twilight Princess HD
Pikmin 3
Tokyo Mirage Sessions (uncensored patch is out if that's important to you)
That's completely ignoring the multipayer games like Smash, Splatoon, Mario Kart 8 and Mario Maker. None of which I play because I'm just not into multiplayer games
>Bigger when you get skell
>Bigger
What do you smoke user?
>Granted, once you accomplish it, there's little reason to go back, but that applies to about any game.
I like how they stratified content by level on every continent, so there actually continued to be reasons to return to the starter area all the way till you were completely done with the game.
And how there was also low level content on the final continent for you to tackle if you chose to go there first, which is entirely an option.
Design decisions like that really made the world feel more organic.
Now if only there was more permanent interactivity with the continents beyond building the water treatment plant.
I honestly completely forgot about all the hidden field things and tyrants. I was thinking solely about the survey rate. So there actually are reasons to explore areas you've finished then
user, be sure to up your reading comprehension field skill next time your BLADE level increases
He means that Skell speed should be the default, but since you're stuck going slower than that for so long, the game feel bigger until you get them.
It's mind boggling. I also can't figure out why they didn't add the option to not fly in the skell once you gain the ability to.
Not perfect by any means, even when compared to original.
The party members didn't feel as flesh out, even with the affinity mission and heart-to-hearts.
The soundtrack, while I personally enjoyed it, had many just bad songs, and almost none of them reached the greatness of the original's music.
Despite the flaws, the combat, or at least the grounded combat, feels so much better and the world is just beautiful.
>tfw sylvalum theme gets interrupted with NOT TO SOUND CLICHE, BUT THIS WORLD SUCKS
I liked X's music a lot more than the original's. It stands out way more and has more good songs to me, the original is very standard and by the books, lots of Bionis music ends up feeling really similar to one another.
It was a solid game, and I enjoy it. That said, the plot left WAY too many questions open. My guess is that they want to answer it in some sort of sequel, but considering its coming out on the NX, I'm pry not gonna play it.
God, why did some of the battle themes just fucking suck?
XC had every battle theme at least be decent if not outright amazing.
Sawano need to work on putting less lyrics in his music, because I swear half the time he barely understands what he writing.
Not him, but:
>No interest
>Moderate interest
>No interest
>loved
>moderate interest
>no interest (have it and a working GC)
>no interest (have it and a working GC)
>No interest
>Never heard of it.
The Wonderful 101 is excellent. It's directed by Kimiya and plays similar to Devil May Cry than Bayo. It has Bayos dodge, but less complex combat. I enjoyed it a hell of a lot more than I thought I was going to.
TMS is an Atlus RPG to the core, so if you like those, it's worth picking up
Honestly, if you have a way to try games you aren't interested in without buying them, you should. I've liked a lot of games that I didn't think I'd like
I actually like Uncontrollable, but I would probably like it less if the lyrics were more clear on account of them not fitting the situation.
If you never see them written out though, you'll probably never decipher what they're saying. It's really more like Incomprehensible.
Now Black Tar, that's pretty bad and it's a shame it plays so often.
Actually whoever did the sound design seems to play the shittier tracks all over the place and then only play good ones in very rare instances, with the exceptions of all the continent themes which are great and played often.
Exploration and gameplay over Story. Like every fucking game should be.
He doesn't write the lyrics
>no interest in W101, Dong Freeze, or Pikmin 3
Do you hate fun?
>No interest
If you're not the guy who he was responding then why do we care?
>no interest in W101, Tropical Dong, or Pikmin 3
This says more about your taste then the Wii U library.
Yeah, no. Not gonna pick it up. Literally no interest, and nothing anyone says is gonna make me want it. Not trying to troll, just being honest. Don't waste your time trying to convince me to pick up anything I say I have no interest in.
W101 doesn't interest me. Frozen Dong just makes me want to play DKC 2. I've never had an interest in Pikmin, although once someone convinced me to give it a try. I found it boring.
I really enjoyed it and will probably play it again from the ground, but there are a lot of issues:
-I love the OST, but some songs are just that shitty, and they're all combat theme
-human only cast (no, blue human and alien human are still humans)
-leveling didn't bring a real satisfaction
-limited amount of outfit, almost all of them are recolors, even if it's blanced by the amount of pieces and they managed to limit the clash when you mix them
-no end game content
-very bad twist and end game, giving a textbook instruction felt lazy "oh they're evil because this"
-no questions solved, you still don't know what's going on, the duo who attacked NLA are somewhere
-fucking tiny ass text and cluttered UI, that's unforgivable and easy to fix
-the world map is disgusting and make no sense
-a single city
-the factions are useless
I love it, but hell
To be fair, the factions have a use: to get you salvage tickets in case you fuck up.
>Don't waste your time trying to convince me to pick up anything I say I have no interest in.
This is the most retarded thing I have seen on Sup Forums in years. Are you aware you have to be 18 years and older to post here?
>-the world map is disgusting and make no sense
I think there's a reason for why the areas are so drastically different, if that's what you're talking about. I don't remember anything about that in the game and so much was left unanswered
>I buy a console for one or two gmes so I can complain on Sup Forums and call you all stupid
You are the stupid one here. Learn to inform yourself before wasting money, fucking retard.
I unironically like Black Tar though, if anything's to be criticized it'd probably be the Prone battle theme. Worst battle theme of the series though is probably:
>tfw Melancholia plays over an End of Affinity Mission exposition dump
>not only that but its louder than the VAs
Shit is absurd, whoever was in charge of sound design honestly needs to be kicked in the dick. Great song but it never played anywhere even remotely fitting.
>limited amount of outfit
>light, medium, heavy sets for 6 different manufactures
>skell wear by 2 manufactures and blade wear by one
>2 types of swimwear
>work wear
>~3 types of casual wear
>2 formal wear
>5 crafting only sets
>33 different looks before color swaps
>leveling didn't bring a real satisfaction
Class level ups sure did, the added arts, skills and eventual ability to mix and match weapon types on classes that don't normally have them really felt like characters were progressing
>the duo who attacked NLA are somewhere
They're dead Jim
They die when you blow up the Zu Pharg.
>the world map is disgusting and make no sense
This is just plain wrong, the map is just a straight up bird's eye view of the continents, you can toggle off the hex shit.
I don't understand
Dude, I've got no interest in it. I've watched trailers. i've watched videos. I've seen what the game is, and no amount of text is going to change my opinion on what I've seen.
You can take issue with that if you want.
Time to Fight may be one of the most generic jrpg battle themes but even it still has a leg up on fucking Black Tar. Or at least the ground version of it, I dont mind the Skell variation nearly as much. The Prone theme is alroght too
>Dude, I've got no interest in it
>My narrow, ignorant view point doesn't need to be challenged
Why don't you try a safe space like NeoGAF then?
Where the fuck is the Elma porn
>If you don't listen to my opinion on games, and let them override everything you've investigated on the subject, then you live in an echo chamber.
Whatever you say, man. Sorry you don't get that little mood boost that some anonymous internet stranger doesn't give a fuck about your opinions about a game he's already decided he doesn't want to invest in.
>and let them override
Nobody said that faggot. Grow the fuck up.
th reason was
"oh god so alien!"
and it's pretty weak,I love the areas, but there's no transitions at all, the endless sea is also weak, but that's personal preferences
I totally forgot to think about all the casual wear, which add a lot of content, my bad, I was just stupid
I think the problem with leveling was: you make sick moves from the go
>"but you're fighting them in the only giant battle in the game user"
let it go, I just forgot and went retarded on my own
also for the map I was talking about the "you're in plains, now walk that tight corridor, you're in an endless desert" the pad map was fantastic
Except that's exactly what you implied I should do.
>Except that's exactly what you implied I should do.
Are you actually 12 years old?
Not at all, although I'm beginning to question your age.
>Not at all
No? I'm not convinced
>N-no u
Hmm.
my 2015 GOTY alongside Bloodborne
can't wait for the next xeno on NX
>good sidequests
>improved menus from xenoblade (to the point that i can navigate them in moonspeak pretty flawlessley)
>combat is better too, no healer class that clearly didn't work in the original anymore
>exploring mira in a doll is my game moment of the year fot last year
>exploring in a doll was neat until you realized the world drastically shrank
>as someone who has enjoyed Sawano's previous work, i can't help but notice obvious comparisons to his stuff from aldnoah and KLK, also the use of it was just straight bad
>some of the worst god damn design choices ever
>really hard to get into the characters
>no sense of urgency for anything despite the fact that there's a bit of a fucking mess of a situation on their hands
>"oh lol hey you should try get your doll license, i thought you'd have had it by now"
>doll combat is incredibly shallow
>incredibly generic plot
The fact that I have the games I have on GC should be enough proof. The fact that I have DKC2 on the SNES should also lend credence to that.
The reason I'm questioning your age is because I'm wondering if you are projecting your insecurities onto me, as it seems to be such a focus for you.
>but there's no transitions at all
The La Mancha section of Primordia is kinda transitional imo, it looks like the kind of high desert that you see between the Rockies and the Cascades, it is a pretty small section in game though.
When you get the ability to fly however, yeah you get to see that the transition between Noctilum and Primordia is completely nonexistent.
>claim to own something
>proof
???
>previous works
>aldnoah and KLK
Sawano composed the OST in 2012
Can't prove it. I'm at work. Sorry.
>Can't prove
I know.
DESU XCX was my favorite work from sawano aside from gundam UC
the songs were just used poorly, the best stuff played like once or twice and the dumb shit like the way was everywhere
I wish the skell theme didn't interrupt the area theme every single time you flew, and that the theme itself didn't take as long to get going, but I actually like the song. Flying way above everything while it plays was pretty great
well whoops.
guess us filthy westerners get fucked over by the fact that we only got this properly at the end of last year.
Shit characters
Shit story
Shit combat
Shit music
Shit game
Worse than XBC but still great
Dolls > Skells
Here's a pic of work, unless you think I keep this kind of shit at home.
It was only a 6 month-ish buffer between us and the nips. Was a painful 6 months but still
>Here's a pic of work
>work
Best girl didn't have enough screentime
Have a second. Doesn't take me but a second to take the pic.
I never played XBC because of its price. I don't know if you can emulate it, but I don't mess with that because my computer is complete ass. Is the combat hard to get into after playing XCX first? Been thinking of picking it up for the Wii since its price has dropped
Nice selfie.
my point is you still wind up getting the OST after the previously mentioned 2 anime titles have been and gone.
If I cared, I wouldn't have posted it.
its fine
Yo man, what do you do?
imagine if the combat of XCX was all in the robot, without the separate limb targeting, overdrive, robot limb destruction, or switching between ranged/melee. Now slap on a time stop team attack that's even more broken than overdrive.
That's XC's combat
Power Plant Operator. 3rd Shift. Work 10 days, get 4 off.
She was a qt. I like to think that she ends up with the prince
It was good.
But
endgame sucked ass because it was 100% grinding, ended up giving up a couple of hours after beating the game since you had to grind out relationships with characters you didn't play with. lost interest pretty quickly
Have you considered cutting off the power for the lulz?
Do they train you in everything or are you expected to know stuff before hand. Any type of degree required? probably a stupid question but I know jack shit about it. 3rd shift is right up my alley and I'm looking for a job
The overall plot doesn't fit the game design at all. When you can stumble across the lifehold modules way early and nobody bats an eye, that's a major design fault. They should have dropped the entire robot bodies part, would make deaths in the story matter more and put ephasis on the survival aspect. I cannot stress how annoyed I was over the mims, I feel they only serve to detract from the game. Some of the side quests are decent though, and I like that there's some branching here and there.
It has many small flaws like removing jump when you get flight module, no volume control, no audio through headset when you have map etc. etc. There's quite a list.
That said, the world design is great (although some things are lacking like wildlife interactions), I especially like how so many monsters can ambush you in a myriad of ways, overall designs (monsters, mechs, armors) are pleasing and looks just as sci-fi as you want. The soundtrack has ups and downs, but I honestly think the standard battle theme does a very good job at making you want to fight, compared to a lot of other games where you get tired of it very quickly. The combat is fairly fun and gives you a very good feeling of satisfaction when you take down something you didn't think you'd be able to do. The world is open, but not open at the same time (just look at the way the continents are made with a solid wall of rock around virtually everything), and I feel this works well. I would like some more access points for ground exploration, especially in Cauldros.
I liked the game a lot, it's just that you really have to scrap every part of the main story. Not only is it pretty dull and uninspired, but it simply doesn't work well with the gameplay mechanics and overall game design, which is a big no.
Sounds like it would take a bit of getting used to, but not bad. I'm gonna pick it up
Yes, but to do so would cause a LOT of problems. It isn't just like turning a light on and off.
They train beforehand. No degree. First job paid 15/hr. Now I'm making 42.50/hr.
Killer soundtrack.

Flying, which of course I was looking forward to, felt like shit for two main reasons:
>press "button" to go up and "button" to go down.
and
>listening to some killer tunes,
>want to jump up to high place,
>start flying- MUSIC STOPS AND A DIFFERENT SONG COMES ON
>the same fucking song every time you fly.
>song always goes back to the start every fucking time.
Fucking hell that was disappointing.
9/10 game though. Sidequests were out the wazoo, and the massive world was so pretty.
Really only a few design choices that let the game down for me.
Sign me up. I know what I am going to be looking into later today. Thanks
Good game with shit story
one of the best open world games I've played
The reasoning was sound but poor in execution. I assumed it was to give a vibe that the characters were off doing things when they weren't tagging along with you which of course is completely pointless as all of them had static locations anyway.
Be willing to do maintenance, too. Most have cross-over training in case they need you. Be prepared to work first while they train you.
in a nutshell
Story seemed like the groundings for a proper sequel anyway. The whole story of XBX felt like one giant prologue to me.
