I dunno, the animal he befriends at one point have the same tail and arm fins (?) that some other I saw on another planet. Same kinda snake-like plant too. However the rest looked pretty original and he did say he visited a dozen more planet who all looked pretty varied.

Suprised that there was actually a ton of variations in the planets, flora, and fauna.

This game is just Spore once you reached the space stage all over again.

I might give it a go, if it's entertaining I might even pay for it. Who cares about hype etc.

This might be the first game of the year to actually deliver on the hype.

Freelancer is probably one of my most favourite games ever.

What I liked the most about it was just floating into space, discovering worlds, and just listening to the ambient soundtrack while I was just warping through space.

I think this game will do nice for me.

I love how the guy playing it is so god damn inept at the game, he can't even read the text on the screen.
The fucking game tells him to just press triangle to send items from inventory to ship and he doesn't understand it, whines about his inventory being full and then does it accidentally because he thinks he is "discarding" items.

He also can't even look around properly and hitting stationary huge boulders is one of the hardest activities for him.

Oh and he spent 1300$ on this game.

The whole way their "MP" works is by calling everything you discover a meme-name which is then pushed to the NMS server and synched with other players if they happen to discover the same generated content.

I hopped around that video and watched about 1 minute of gameplay.

In that minute I saw:

It's single player with some community based features such as leaving messages or naming stuff that other people will see.

But nonetheless, to have the remote possibility of meeting another player I world think you'd need an online account. Your name is saved to the planets you discover, so I'm assuming your save game would be on their servers.

Can't explore caves, land and different planets but in terms of gameplay, I can see a lot similarities.

the problems with games like this at least for me is that you realize there is no point in doing anything. In normal games the story is what drives me if the gameplay doesnt but this has nothing.
