Back when I was alive i loved the 2D Mario games. Do you think a Super Mario Bros. 4 would work? I know Mario Maker is a thing but most levels people make suck. Thoughts?

Given they recently said they'll be taking a departure from the NSMB series, along with the quality 2D design format of 3D World, I have hopes the next 2D Mario will be great.

user it is better if your soul were to just rest in peace rather then worry yourself of such trivial things

walk into the light my friend

Super Mario World is Super Mario Bros 4. Nintendo localization teams removed the subtitle.

Do we get to fuck lolis in the afterlife?

yes but the catch is you are reborn as a loli and everyone else gets to fuck you

This. Why in the hell did they do that anyways?

I hope so.

...

Op here.

Sorry i meant back when I was a kid. Stupid autocorrect.

i'm ok with this

I don't believe you skeleton.

Seriously don't ruin my thread mortal.

they were thinking ahead
the GBA remake would've been
Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario Bros. 4: Super Mario World

I think Super Mario World worked out great. It's the best one tied with SMB3.

Okay, so what's the catch?

I don't believe there will be a "SMB4" like this. The first 3 were quite different so it's not like the Megaman classic series where most of them are basically the same game with different levels and a few additions each title up until 6.

Same with Sonic, if you notice it looks sort of like a remix between Sonic 1 to Knuckles and knuckles the knuckles and Sonic CD because those games had pretty much the same mechanics, one would say the same engine updated over and over.

SMB however, only the japanese version of SMB2 was like SMB1 so in that sense it "could" work, but both USA and 3 are pretty different so it's really hard to say what a 4 would be (aside from the existing SMW anyways, which is also pretty different).

However I do seriously believe that their next 2D mario is going to be fully rendered in 2D graphics. It might be something new. Who knows. But I don't believe it will be pseudo 3D. Seems companies want to capture more things about classic titles than the core gameplay aspects.

Also it may seem that they're putting out this NES as an attempt to see the general reaction to these titles so they can basically know what "tickles" newer customers. They know that many industry veterans won't really consider buying a non-purist version of a console with plain ROMs if they didn't already buy the virtual console titles, but they still want to popularize a bit more these classic titles. So they'll know if people really don't want another Ninja Gaiden or if somehow they gotta have to pour some more and more kirby again and again.

fixed

wouldn't the Lion Suit be Lucky Cat Suit x Tanooki Leaf?

I'll fuck you up virtually, Super Mario World is dope as hell.

>you will never come back from the dead to shitpost on Sup Forums

Imagine SMA3.

>Super Mario Advance 3: Super Mario Brothers 5: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

Is there another title that goes deeper than this?

Wouldn't mind for old power ups coming back and not being used as a timed challenges.

>3DS GBA collection: Super Mario Advance 3: Super Mario Brothers 5: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

Post what do you want in next Mario 2D game, besides not part of New's series.

>new power-ups, with one classic power-up coming back
>multiplayer expanded to 8, also is online
>new techniques for Mario moveset
>All-in-one map like NSMBU's map

Great! I can't wait to die.

>Nintendo Classics: 3DS GBA collection: Super Mario Advance 3: Super Mario Brothers 5: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

Rope mechanic.

bring back sprites or use the vector art for the next game

I don't know what they could do really, I just want similar level design to Super Mario World & a interesting world map with multiple exits (and I mean more than just a damn flag pole, the key holes helped make things interesting).

It would be great to see them do this. While NSMB didn't look bad pixel-art would look so great again.
