Is the 3DS still worth it? I left Vidya 5 years ago but want to come back. So i was wondering if it was a godd idea to buy the 3DS now. I'm doing it mainly because i want to play Super Smash Bros 3D Edition and Pokemon Sun

Just buy a Wii u. DS libraries have always been either shovelware, a dumbed down version of a console title, or niche shit like Air Traffic Controller.
The catalog is big enough and for the best part the big titles are out.
Is a good moment if you want to buy it.
depends, if you're into weebshit. Get the Vita, if you like anything else get the 3DS.
>Is the 3DS still worth it?
What do you mean "still worth it"? Unless the next generation includes backwards compatibility, consoles can only improve with age as their library expands and the price drops. It'd be more accurate to ask "is it finally worth it?" which is yes, if you hack it.
Fuck yes, just hacked mine and it's become the only thing I play vidya on. Working through SMT IV right now, 3DS library is strong as fuck.
I dunno. I'm planning on buying one soon and hacking it, but looking at the library, it is pretty underwhelming compared to the DS's.
Nah. After Pokemon SM are released the console will get forgotten. 3DS games are already getting ported to mobile. You should just buy a powerful Phone
My 3ds is a Megaten/MH/Miku machine. Yes, it's worth it.
>Is the 3DS still worth it?
Get a old bundle, something like the Happy Home Designer one if you want a new 3ds not XL, or one of the first New XL bundle ones.
Homebrew the shit of it, ARM9 Loader HAx and all the jazz, instal freeshop and ciangel and you can install games and dlc from the handheld itself, you can even stream this shit to your computer with a homebrew app and play on your monitor and record movies or stream it whiteout open the console.
Recon this is the best time to get one actually.
Full library at your disposal and you can play online with custom firmware, i wasn't that interested with other games than Monster Hunter, but damn i played a shit ton of good games.
As a anecdotal evidence for example the 3DS has the best version of the original Kid Icarus with MUCH better controls than the NES, i always wanted to finish it but i never liked the slippery controls of the original and you also get the new one Uprising, yes the controls are cramping inducing but if you can endure it and get used to it is one of the best games i ever played.
Pokemon should be fun, but Smash is best on Wii U
Yes, get a New 3DS XL, SE's are somewhat common and the N3DS is faster.
Good titles
>SMT: Devil Survivor
Play Overclocked before Record Breaker because RB vastly improves the gameplay and interface compared to the first one.
>Etrian Odyssey
Play it in the order of 4, U1, U2.
>SMTIV and SMTIV Apocalypse
Both standalone titles but the second is a sequel coming out in september.
Other games include MH (pretty popular), Miku Project Mirai, and 7th Dragon 3.
tutorials? i only started homebrewing when it first came out and i feel out of the loop
/hbg/ on /vg/
They have everything on pastebin right there on the opening post, and you can ask anything you need.
The miku games on 3ds are too easy
The DS has literally one of the largest and best handheld libraries ever, of course a lot of consoles are gonna look underwhelming compared to the best, user.
Okay, but the GBA had a better library too, and arguably so did the original GB+GBC.
It's just kinda meh and short.
I was expecting it to have more games in general considering it's the most popular handheld this gen.
I mean, I've personally played both Devil Survivors, SMT IV, PSMD, Super Mario 3D Land, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, MH3U, MH4U and I'm looking forward to other games I have in mind. The library is pretty fucking solid for a 200 dollar or less console, if you ask me.
You can play the DS library on 3DS.
I already exhausted the DS's library on a DS, so that's not super appealing.
I mean, I'm still buying the thing since there are games on it I want to play, I just wish there were more.
The 2 Kirby entries are some of the best in the franchise
I liked the 3DS Pokemon games. The Poke Bank is a nice feature if you played the GBA/DS Pokemon games and want to bring them forward.
How many games does a console need? I have about 50 games for my 3DS and that feels worth it by miles
Over 80.
>a console needs over eighty fucking good games for it to be worth purchasing
>said console is just two hundred Ameridollars
What the fuck
So you own no consoles then and just game on PC?
