Hazy Maze Cave had such a cool atmosphere.
The fucking ghost mansion.
Yup
Tick tock clock without a doubt with Tall Tall Mountain a close second, also check out my imported limited edition dubs
I dunno but Shifting Sand and Lethal Lava are definitely my favorites.
Shifting Sand Land is the worst after Tiny Huge Island
I always enjoyed going on that snow level and going "mountain surfing" with the shell, because you could ride those mountains easily if you got the trick down. Fun as fuck.
Come to think of it the worlds in sm64 were pretty small. Somebody should make a new 3d mario game like 64, but with bigger worlds.
And no, not like Sunshine with a gimmick or galaxy with 30 different worlds with like 2 things to do in each.
shifting sand land, objectively
WDW gets special props for the hidden city
figuring out how to get into snowman's land made me like that one a lot.
Or tiny/huge island, that one doesn't get mentioned much
If Rainbow Ride had been finished in time and perhaps twice as large, it would have easily been the best level.
You know it to be true.
>and perhaps twice as large
no
Dorrys Cave and big boo mansion
Twice as dense as well, like make it an actual war in the sky or something?
And have the last Bowser level be a continuation at night?
I thought that was what they were initially going for.
Fuck those hat stealing niggers.
...
while sm64 is a retro game, it is stell relevent today becuase it is the best 3d platformer, fuck off
I've been out of the Nintendosphere for a while, but if Breath of the Wild was followed up by a stripped-down Mario collectathon platformer (no equipment or physics gimmicks, though nice powerup variety is still cool) I'd consider jumping back in. Mario games have only ever been great because of high-quality level design, but Nintendo seems to be all about glitz and gimmicks now.
>tfw im the only one who never cared about learning the level names.
Your memory is a hazy maze
I had kept away from 3d world until I decided to drop the 20 for it and try it. It felt like if you made a 2d mario game 3d. It felt weak, but it wasn't so bad I didn't play it. It was okay.
Sunshine was good, and the last mario 64 like platformer, and galaxy1/2 were good, but the fact every world was a level with like 2 or 3 easy objectives made the game feel really shallow.
3d mario is dead thanks to neo-nintendo.
I'm waiting for yooka laylee and if it sucks I'm done.
I learned them from playing the game so much but people are probably going to understand what you mean anyways if you mention the desert land or the lava land or the maze.
I loved the pyramids level since I am african american
Because when ever I see pyramids I remember my black ancestors ruling egypt
It's not like we had to put effort into learning them. They are shown at the beginning of each level. You must have been a stupid kid, probably still are
WE
ARE THE CRYSTAL GEMS
The beginning of each level for me is the painting itself, the only worthwhile thing you ever had to read in the star selection is the clues to finding the star, sounds like you are only finding excuses to insult people at random.
N' SHIET
I always thought that Tick Tock Clock was a cool level and was amazed when I stopped time for the first time.
You have 10 seconds to explain why Bob-Omb Battlefield isn't the best level.
>Pro-tip: you can't.
this desu
Too plain, no advanced jumps needed.
because its pretty mediocre compared to everything else.
God they're all so good.
Bob-omb Battlefield and Whomp's Fortress (the first two) are fantastic. I really enjoyed Tall Tall Mountain too.
Nigger. They couldn't even make bobomb battlefield a battlefield.
>liking tutorial levels
Whomp's Fortress or Cool, Cool Mountain, but I say this because I speedrun the game
Anyway, at least we can all agree that Wet Dry World and Rainbow Ride are the worst stages in the game
all the ones that take place in a parallel universe
So are the levels merely universes withing the paintings or do the paintings take you to actual locations in the Mario world?
First one. Why else do all the levels not have an exit?
Well they kinda float in an endless abstract void, so...
Visiting the city in the skybox of Wet Dry World would be interesting though.
>I speedrun the game
what times you got senpai?
What the fuck am I looking at.
Hi,
Please stop posting these without my permission, thanks.
we need to talk about Parallel Universes
tall tall mountain or cool cool mountain
...
>He doesn't know how to cross QPU's
Doesn't have all the caps, good for just generally running around though
Well I guess you can visit it since it's a picture of a real Spanish town
So it's just a Bayeux-esque parallel universe joke?
>wing cap is the most iconic powerup from 64
>metal cap got turned into its own character
>no one gives a shit about the invisible cap
BUT FIRST
How was I supposed to know you were meant to jump into the painting?
Invisible cap is garbage and never added fulfilling challenge, get fuckd.
>Vanish Cap
>Enemies can still see you but you can now walk through certain walls
Should've called it the Intangibility Cap
It will always have a special place in my heart, as it was my childish introduction to the three dimensions in vidya.
Very little in life has lived up to the absolute wonder of that moment.
For the fitieth time, when you walk into it, the painting ripples; as your available actions are walking, punching, and jumping, the player will eventually discover the correct action to use on the painting.
2/10, I replied.
A half A press is an A press. You can't say it's not
The Toad tells you to.
old alchemy books, but yeah
Tall Tall Mountain
>invisible cap
>you can still see Mario
>so can enemies
>Mario can only walk through specific walls
>he doesn't fall through the floor
So is it "King Bob-omb" or "Big Bob-omb"?
cuck
Big Bob-omb, but they recently retconned that character's name to King Bob-omb.
>be little brother
>fucking around in mario 64
>jumping and shit in mirror room because it's the neatest room in the game
>accidently discover snow level
>older brothers never knew about it
>amazed that I discovered a secret level before my brothers did
best feeling
kek
Gameplay wise: Tick Tock Cock and Rainbow ride/cruise/whatever it was called
I can't decide whether to grab SM64 from My Nintendo using 140 of my Gold Coins or wait and see what replaces it when it's taken down tomorrow.
I wouldn't mind replaying it on my Wii U but I can't be bothered actually buying it.
Universes within paintings
How were we even supposed to know?
Wow a whole hour and no barney fag nice
In the mirror there's a snowman painting where the blank wall is in the real world
Look in the reflection, there's a snowman painting in the mirror on the wall you're supposed to jump through. That's how I figured it out as a kid.
Toronto transit commission isn't in Mario it's in Scott pilgrim
The one with the dino and boo's mansion
Snowman's Land
Yes I know it's a clone of Cool Cool Mountain, fuck you.
>YOU MUST FIGHT WITH HONOR
Fuck you. If you made it look like throwing you hurt at all, I wouldn't have tried that.
