I want to get into these games. PSN has Darkstalkers Chronicles and Darkstalkers 3. Which one should I get?
PSN also has the first one. Now I'm confused.
most that will ever happen is morrigan as a sfv guest character if they run out of waifus to bring back
Get Resurrection.
>What went right?
A lot. It took everything that was great about SF2 and improved on it. It upped the bar for animation in video games. It provided a fresh new cast of zany, shapeshifitng monsters at a time when the martial arts theme was getting incredibly formulaic. It invented several mechanics that became staples of the genre. It sold well (n before people try to say otherwise) and many famous fighting game players, including Daigo himself, had their roots in it.
>Why won't Capcom ever reach this greatness again?
Because the game industry has gotten too big for its own good and everything is concentrated into fewer and fewer "AAA" IPs. It mirrors the overall concentration of wealth into fewer and fewer hands we see in society in general.
Reminder:
youtube.com
What hurts the most is that that is such a well done trailer.
What boggles my mind is how Capcom refuses to see just how easily this would sell.
It is nice, even if we were to never get another game I'd at least like to see a direct upload of the trailer.
Never, capcom would have to do some actual, real work and not just marketing campaigns to make it sell.
Sony said they would like to work with Capcom on a new Darkstalkers game.
>we'll never get a new sprite game with Amingo, Ruby Heart and SonSon
Did they? I know Capcom said not long ago that they would like to do another MvC, but last I heard of Darkstalkers was that Resurrection's sales torpedoed any chance the series had.
The Resurrection argument was always a stupid one cause re-releases almost never sell as well as any new game does.
True, but SF2 Hyper Fighting on XBLA happened to come out at just the right time so it sold decently. So they had skewed expectations. They themselves noted that each one of those online edition releases last gen sold less than the last.
The combos in this game are hard.
Few characters even use links for anything most of the time since chains are universal
Hsien-ko
Yes.
...
...
Is it like Karnov's or something where reversal game is key?
Felicia
...
Do you really think they don't know that? They probably expected numbers similar to other remakes but it ended up selling less.
...
agreed.
...
>They probably expected numbers similar to other remakes but it ended up selling less.
None of those other remakes were selling well either. After SF2 it was all downhill.
...
...
>Morrigan
SLUT
Now that's a bit too much for my dick man.
I want Lilith to sit on my face
...
I see,
I want Huitzil to drive me to work.
...
Why are Robot's in tune with nature the best?
...
The juxtaposition is fun. You unleash gatlings, missiles lasers and drills on an enemy, then turn around and frolic with birds, squirrels and kids.
Choose wisely.
...
Middle. sexiness in moderation.
>tfw you realize that Lilith is literally Rei Ayanami with a different outfit
Lilith > Morrigan > Felicia > Hsien Ko
I'm not saying the Mayans were given robots by aliens... but the Mayans were given robots by aliens.
Morrigan and its not close.
Just play on fightcade or emulate dumbass
Sure I'd buy it.
Morrigan, always. Post more morrigan.
I choose Bulleta.
...
Anyone know if there are scans of Darkstalkers Official Complete Works yet? I actually bought a copy, but it would be convenient to have scans on the computer for easy reference.
>game has zombies and vampires
>doesn't come back from the dead
Explain
late capitalism
>god-tier design
>god-tier personality
>god-tier moveset
>is a charge character
It hurts to live.
Because once a vampire or zombie die, they're gone for good.
Just ignore Castlevania's Dracula.
You should try to get better with her user.
>can't into charge
Sounds like someone needs to acquire proficiency,
Is the Darkstalkers OVA worth a watch?
It's worth at least one watch. Story-wise it's pretty bad, and they decided to fill a lot of time with irrelevant stuff, but the fight scenes are full of visuals straight from the games. You'll recognize tons of moves. And regardless of the story, the characters themselves are handled quite well.
Why even live?
Of course.
I really need to check it out. All I've ever seen is the US cartoon. :/
Yes. Don't watch the western cartoon tho, you have been warned.
>Darkstalkers US cartoon
Yes, it has some cool scenes and nice 90s OVA animation.
the western cartoon is kind of "so bad it's good" and also a reaction image goldmine.
Just go in knowing that it gets worse as it goes on. It starts out half-decent, but then it just wanders around, and the ending is incredibly anticlimactic.
I didnt say I enjoyed it.
I only ever liked watching it on birdhouse.
I've tried, but these characters are just not my style. At most I can only play and enjoy Guile and Ralf who is a semi-charge, but I can't tolerate any other charge character.
Maybe I could try harder, but Huitzil and Demitri are already good enough for me.
DELETE THIS.
>You will never be a bat summoned to simply be a chair for Morrigan
I remember it a bit.
>Morrigan is a villain with a Russian accent, despite being Scottish
I love her so.
Ever played 3rd strike? Urien is a good stepping stone to get into Bulleta's charge rushdown mindset.
Also remember her missiles are far less important a tool than her command throw.
My choice is the same as it always has been.
Favorite fact about Morrigan: She is basically the demonic equivalent of a teenager going through a phase.
Project X Zone Morrigan is best Morrigan.
That self of her is good I suppose.
Speaking of the ending, (I'll leave it in spoilers since some people are talking about watching it for the first time)
Wouldn't it have made more sense for Donovan to finish off Pyron with Change Immortal than Press of Death? I mean the whole flashback scene that triggers his "epiphany" or whatever was about loving himself for who he is rather than constantly hating himself. And Change Immortal is the move that directly taps into his demonic side.
>implying Darkstalkers 1 Morrigan is't the best
I have only played it very casually with Makoto, but that sounds like great advice.
Based Bengus.
user, that Bengus is long dead.
u aint lyin
I don't even wanna know.
Mis negros.
His SF5 story art really is terrible, but I'm willing to bet it was rushed as hell.
Still hurts. Love this series to death. Even bought Ressurection twice (PS360) to show support. :-(
Never again.
always was a felicia guy.
Night Warriors or Vampire Savior?
Damn, for me its a tie between both Morrigan and Felicia. Its hard to choose.
>Why won't Capcom ever reach this greatness again
capcom hates money and you now couldn't you tell
>What went right?
They created the foundation for Guilty Gear and other anime fighting games. This might also be the thing that went wrong depending on personal preferences.
>Why won't Capcom ever reach this greatness again?
While Street Fighter has always focused on being simple and streamlined, Darkstalkers was always about experimenting with new ideas. The problem is, other developers have progressed so much that Capcom would have to work a lot in order to make a new Darkstalkers stand out from the competition.
Also the gap between the western taste and the japanese taste has grown to a point where it's difficult to make characters appeal to both. Should the next game have darker designs that seem to be very popular in the west or would adding a bunch of new moe characters guarantee financial success in domestic market?
I can't really decide, I like both. Overall Savor is probably the better polished game, but there's so much that's just different between the two, and some particular things that I think Night Warriiors end up being better about that I can't say I really prefer one over the other. There's a reason they included both in Resurrection, they're both great games in their own rights.
...
In a way it created the foundation for everything that isn't a straight up SF2 clone. I mean, SF Alpha, SF3, and SF5 ll borrow form it.
Might have to check em both out, then. Was looking for the better one to emulate on my 3ds, but thanks for answering.
I thought she was a Darkstalker. She would legit fit in the series.
