Aside from the animation on Mother Brain I honestly thought Zero mission looked shittier than Fusion somehow.
Always preferred Fusion's graphics and art style.
To be honest I like Fusion better in general, something about it clicked with me and never let go.
OP here, Fusion has more of a pastel art style where as ZM is more focused on making the foreground pop, with a lot of focus on contrast. If you look at Fusion it kind of blends together more than ZM.
Not to say this is a bad thing. But they clearly went two different directions with the games, art-wise.
Fusion annoys me actually. Those rooms the game just won't shut the fuck up break the pace of the game. I don't care about your story Fusion!
I can't look at GBA sprites without comparing them to their GOAT SNES sprites. Try comparing Zero Mission to Super if you want to see what I mean.
I'm not even sure what I would call the best looking GBA game. Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, maybe.
I think most people would agree that Super Metroid's art style is the only thing that doesn't hold up.
I mean, just look at Ridley. He doesn't look good, he doesn't animate well, his room looks terrible. I'm still a huuuuuuuuuuge Super Metroid fanboy, but come on now.
I will say that ZM has the best gameplay of the 2D Metroid.
I also prefer Fusion. It's my favorite Metroid game and one of my favorite games of all time. Beat it over a dozen times.
This is the only real issue with it and all what it needed was a way to easily skip all the text instantly.
>Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire
holy fucking shit no, the graphics were okay, but the font was especially shitty.
>He doesn't look good, he doesn't animate well, his room looks terrible. I'm still a huuuuuuuuuuge Super Metroid fanboy, but come on now.
He looks great, he animates well thanks to subtle use of mode 7, his room is beautifully lit and full of detail. In conclusion, your post is ass-backwards and you're a faggot.
>Square Geometry: The Games
>Best
What a sad little man.
All 2D Ridley's suffer from static sprite syndrome. Seriously he's always stuck in the Thinker pose.
>This is the state of delusion the average Super Metroid worshipper exists in
No wonder they think their game was the second coming of Christ
I managed to get to the endgame of Fusion easily but only picked up like 5 E tanks and now SA-X keeps destroying my anus.
Wat do Sup Forums?
Don't get hit.
Abuse it's dumb as shit AI.
They fixed it in Emerald
The Metroid games are up there, for sure.
As far as art style and animation goes, for me, it's either the Fire Emblem games

So true! I remember a loop that was pretty unbeatable you could use in the final room.
Agreed
This is neat when you consider the fact they both run on the same engine (which is itself a modified Wario 4 engine).
Abuse the screw attack between beam charges like there is no fucking tomorrow. Good luck afterwards though, no mercy will be had.
As for the fusion love, I agree. Sequence breaking is actually one big fuck you to the real villain in the game, the Federation. Also missle stacking was fun, the diffusion upgrade was insane.
As for the actual topic, yes other good looking games exist:
Golden Sun 2
Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga
The Minish Cap
Kirby and the Amazing Mirror
Aria of Sorrow
Megaman Zero (any of them after the first)
Megaman and Bass
Man was the GBA amazing.
Zero Mission Ridley's roar is still fucking terrifying.
