hmm, interesting question. it's not something that's very game-y. when i think about this show i think about like, a mix of family adventure films like the goonies, and of course the spooky stuff and the mix of stephan king / steven speilberg, john carptenter films.

its interesting because the family adventure genre doesn't really have a video game analog. there's a lot of famous disasters like the ET and Home Alone games which have struggled with this. the films are as much about human emotion as well as the thrills and spills of the adventure situation. sure you could have a Jumanji video game where you just play Jumanji and crazy shit happens, but it's kinda missing everything that makes the film so heart-warming.

the best bet would be stuff like Silent Hill and anything focusing more on the horror and slasher elements, in SH1 you are searching for your daughter in spooktown for example, similar to Joyce in ST. LiS is okay if only for the faintly Donnie Darko links, but it's not an 80's setting.

Beyond Two Souls

Haven't played it, but I'd say Earthbound bc the premise and setting is very similar. Altough I'm not sure about the gameplay giving you a similar experience.

The show is good. But it has many flaws that speak of a bad direction or bad screenwriting. Nancy is my new waifu.
