Kid me liked it

>imagine being a kid in the early 90's
More like remember.

Holy shit I want neo-Sup Forums to leave
been there, done that.
>Be 5 year old me
>Watch Mario movie
>Play Super Mario Bros 3
>Watch Mario movie again
>Play Super Mario World
>Rinse and Repeat
It was bliss
>Imagine
You need to leave kiddo
same, watched the shit outta this movie as well as don bluth movies and robocop and teenage mutant ninja turles.
I'm sure it was originally some sci-fi (dystopian) movie completely unrelated from Super Mario Bros, but they tried to join the fad by adding minor Mario elements to it.
>imagine
fuck i'm gettin' too old fo' dis shit
Good times, this movie is essential John Leguizamo core.
it was a great movie in it own right. frankly i dont know how anyone could ever have done a live action mario bros movie, even today.
I'm pretty sure they did the best they could do with FUCKING Mario as the premise.
I mean what the fuck did anyone expect? Some Italian manlet growing giant after chomping down shrooms and shooting fire out his hand, jumping on turtles trying to save a princess?
>Imagine being a kid in the early 90's
>Imagine
This, why should I have to imagine when I can just fucking remember?
I thought Yoshi was cool in it and was very upset when he got stabbed. :'(
>Imagine being a kid in the early 90's
But I was?
How the fuck could they take sound effects from a game that didn't exist yet
I saw this shit in theaters and was blown away back in the day. Granted, I also unironically enjoyed the Zelda cartoon on DIC as well as Super Mario Brothers Super Show. Sonic Underground was fucking tight as well.
Imagine being human while watching the Super Mario Bros movie
Trust the fungus
I actually liked the movie the first time I saw it.
Am I just strange? What was so bad about it?
>watched the movie as a kid and hated it
>bought it on dvd so I could show my kid brothers the movie
>they actually got sick watching the movie and one even threw up afterwards
Will there ever be a worse videogame movie?
HIGH PLUNGER
Fun is bad.
It didn't fit the source material. A lot of people seem to agree now though that it has its charms for being so strange and it has a cult following.
Apparently the couple in charge of the project were a couple of narcissistic pricks and it was a very painful on set experience for Bob Hoskins and John Lasagna.
>tfw saw mario brothers a dozen times
>tfw mom went to see other movies after the third time because she was fucking sick of mario brothers
>Cyberpunk Mushroom Kingdom
Was actually kinda cool, in concept.
>you will never be a kid growing up in the 90's where life was easy and you never had to worry about anything else than doing your homework
I really liked the movie though as a kid in the 90's
The ratchet and clank movie
I wouldn't say this is exclusive to the 90s. Kids growing today have nothing to worry about but their homework either.
I saw it on VHS and thought it was awesome. Now I own it on DVD. It's bad, but it's pretty enjoyable. Maybe I'll watch it tomorrow.
Yes, buy we ain't kids anymore.
>that Bowser
That would have been fucking hilarious if it had the same cast.
Some people like it, I've seen a few videos of people defending the movie outright.

house of the dead
Where's the heart attack?
My dad brought it home one day on VHS. He knew I liked Super Mario Bros on the SNES, and thought I'd enjoy the movie. He didn't know anything about it, but when we watched it, he had a "What the fuck did I just buy?" look on his face. I enjoyed the hell out of the movie, but he thought I was just baring with it to not seem disappointed.
I loved this movie. It was so damn stupid but fun.
30 year old gramps here.
I was quite young when this came out and my sister and I pleaded with our parents to take us to it until they finally conceded. My dad hated videogames what, at the time, I believed to be irrationally and spent the whole movie ridiculing it. Even at the time, I didn't understand what the fuck I was watching or what it had to do with one of my favorite Nintendo mascots. I mean I understood the plot and characters, but I just felt like I was watching a vague approximation of Mario and I guess I expected something slightly closer to Super Mario Brothers Super Show.
I wasn't surprised to find that both the actors from Super Mario Brothers Super Show have passed away unceremoniously.
I'm sorry mom and dad for making you go to that. You were right about videogames being gay.
Reminder that this movie opens with a shot of Peach's baby vag.

At 4:07, I agree completely. The score to the movie is by the same guy that did Back to the Future, it's really good. How did he get the isolated score for that scene in his video?
>Yfw the kid that played little Kal-El in the beginning of the Superman movie grew up knowing that millions of people saw his dick
Is this thread an elaborate trap for all the 90s kids so we can finally purge them? It's a good idea user, but there are still going to be oughties running around.
>Am I just strange?
You were a kid who loved anything Mario. Lots of us liked it.
>What was so bad about it?
Have you seen it recently? It's fucking WEIRD. The jokes are dumb, there's lots of sexual innuendo that falls flat, it feels like an 80's B movie that got greenlit after they stamped Mario on it, the dialogue is awful, the "story" is nonsensical, it barely had anything to do with the games, and it was just... weird. It'll always have a place in my heart but I completely understand most people hating it.
Sound repositorys
Reminder that there will be a sonic movie with CGI and live-action.
Honestly, as a kid, this made me want to be Luigi.
>imagine
Also the movie was alright. In fact it was probably the first dystopian future movie i ever saw and i loved it. Also it had a lot of practical effects.
And as a kid you are to stupid to give a shit about the acting anyway.
there were no funny youtube reviews and reaction bullshit back in the day, makes you think
it was pretty fucking awesome
>i dont know how anyone could ever have done a live action mario bros movie, even today
Because they shouldn't, quite frankly.
Well back in the 90's they had 2 choices
Animated drawn movie or live action.
The already was a comic tv show
lel
gonna throw this out there, as a 4 year old gaming ADDICT, i loved the movie, it was OBVIOUSLY off, i could even tell at 4 years old it was so bad it was good, but it was GOOD. and FUN overall. like nintendos gimicks i guess. .
tho i wondered, "why the FUCK is mario so old, and luigi so young?" their parents have them 20 years apart?! again....i was 4-5. 27 now
You need to be 18 and older to post here.
That at least had the Lois Lane chick from Smallville do a full frontal nude scene.
