Been thinking of getting into Dungeon Crawlers. Which game should I try out?

Wizardry 8

What platforms you own?

3DS:
Etrian Odyssey IV is a great place to start, Untold 2 is good, and EOIII is still the best in the franchise.

VIta:
Lots of varying choices, but Dungeon Traveler's 2 is great, good pre-game with a nice post-game that will last you a lot longer. Demon Gaze is good for beginners, as is Moe Crystal if you feel up to importing the English sub version.

EO is a good fuckin choice, user.

Also the Legend of Grimrock games are p fun

Etrian Odyssey would do.

I own both. I played a bit of EO1 when it came out but didn't really hold me. I'll check out 4.

As for Dungeon Traveler's 2 Is there any sexy guys? Sorry but not that into girls
Wanted to get into Legend of Grimrock but I'm not that into First Person real time combat.

>Moe Crystal
Meant Moe Chronicle, Crystal didn't get English subs ;_;

>Is there any sexy guys? Sorry but not that into girls
Nope, like MC, your party is all girls/monster girls.

>Nope, like MC, your party is all girls/monster girls.
Aw. Yeah from what I've heard Vita has tons of great dungeon crawlers but all are sexual as hell. Which is fine but I'm not into the sex they are selling.

wizardry
might and magic
dungeon master, eye of the beholder, lands of lore, grimrock
every single Japanese dungeon crawler is a wizardry clone so you may as well just play the original, i'd recommend the lylgamyn saga version

Yeah, as far as I know (hadn't played them all) Vita dungeon crawlers are character driven stories that mostly involve female cast with a few males or none at all. Not a lot of the more classical party builders like EO exist.

>wizardry

If you have access to a ps2 console or emulator I recommend wizardry tales of the forsaken. It has the game play of a dungeon crawler with stuff to make the transition from regular JRPGs easier like named party members who react to story stuff (if you want).

Shame. Oh well guess at least I can try out EO4 like you recommend. Any advice on classes and skills? I played a bit of 1 but didn't get that far.

Pic related and SMT Strange Journey

Nah, experiment and know that abilities work on all types of enemies and FOEs you encounter. Even if it's a boss, you can bind it's arms, legs, etc to prevent it from using it's strongest attacks on you.

Check out the demo to it (DT2 has a demo on the Vita as well, if you wanted to give it a try).

Have faith in this wise user.

The Dark Spire

The best modern "old school" dungeon crawler is easily Dark Spire for the DS. Emulate it if you have to.

This user has the right idea.

>Emulate it if you have to.
Which you pretty much have to at this point. Unless you feel like shelling out ~100$. So glad I bought it at release.

>getting into Dungeon Crawlers.

Pic related is the best by far.

If you've no experience at all though, then probably start out with one of the Etrian Odyssey's.

Then go for pic related.

>You can change the difficulty to easy if things get to scary
Dropped

If you're just starting, go with Etrian Odyssey if you're on Nintendo, or Dungeon Travelers 2 if you're on Sony.
If you like those games but want a REAL dungeon crawler, The Dark Spire is pretty much the only "recent" option.

yep it's an old game even the NES version has textured walls and stuff though
lylgamyn saga has all the bells and whistles and includes the first 3 gameselminage series is ok too, probably the closest thing to the old wizardry

Wizardry 5/6/7
