Japanese are always horrible over-actors. If the English isn't good, I just turn the volume off.
He's right.
Play Sonic Adventure 2 with the Japanese dubbed voices. Enough said
>he actually likes japanese voices
>UGH, THEY'RE NOT PROVIDING DUAL AUDIO
>I'LL HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE UNDUB WITH ENGLISH SUBTITLES BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH I WANT JAPANESE AUDIO I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY'RE SAYING
The only exceptions to dubs being better than the originals are the first xenoblade and space dandy.
I like to hear things in the original language.
Why do you have so little respect for your native language?
>What is Cowboy Bebop?
>What is DBZ?
>What is Evangelion?
>What is Big O?
I prefer that over the shitty dubs americans shit.
Dragon Ball Z's Japanese castings have their own problems but the original Funimation and Ocean dubs are fucking terrible.
Their Kai dubs and the recent content are great though.
i dont feel like japanese has enough variation in voices, they legitimately all sound the same and have the same attitudes and sentence structure. i could categorize every expression of both genders in 4 categories
>boy
respectful
creepy
>girl
polite
bitch
these include tone, any in a category sound exactly the same. so 4 voices in a game with maybe 10 voiced characters
>Try to play with JP audio
>Have to read subs
Fuck that. You end up missing out on the visuals because you're eyes are stuck on the bottom of the fucking screen. And it's worst when it's happening during gameplay.
>I can it's better
I see that you are not a native English speaker.
Musou games
it makes just as little sense for Chinese people to speaking Japanese as it does for them to be speaking English
They do emote better than English dubs and pronounce honorifics correctly.
English is an ugly language
>being this wrong
>talking about ancient evils and mystical powers in fucking english
>ARE YOU READY TO FIGHT YET (CHARACTER)
>NOT YET! I NEED TO WAIT A FEW MORE MINUTES FOR MY SPECIAL ENERGY OF EDGY FRIENDSHIP AND LOVE TO CHARGE UP!
sounds way too cringe and retarded, japanese or bust
There is no reason to have ecuadorian footsie games with British audio enabled. That goes for all fightin' games. These people are professional voice-actors.
The only two games I ever played in a different language were Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light. Russian with English subtitles is the only way to play those games. There's no other reason to do that with anyother game though.
Why does the dub have so little respect for my language? I can tell when voice acting is shit, no matter what language it's in and the english dub is shit 99% of the time.
>can tell if groans and animal noises are badly acted
>somebody starts speaking in a different language
>HOLY FUCK I DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE SAYING HOW CAN WEEABOOS POSSIBLY KNOW IF THIS SOUNDS GOOD!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!
Fuck off, retard.
Even if they're both bad, the Japanese is better by virtue of the fact that you can't tell that it's bad.
Checkmate, atheists.
All dubs are cancer. This has been true since the beginning of cinema. You're the hugest of coddled braindead faggots.
>White lady voices a black character in Uncharted
>WARRR!!!!! RAGE!!!!
>White/Black/etc Americans voice Asian characters in 100+ Japanese games
>IT'S 100% FINE!
>"Well, no, but I can it's better from the emotion in their voices."
While this is utter horseshit for anyone that isn't a native speaker of Japanese, there is still good reason to prefer Japanese audio even if you aren't: English dubs are usually terrible. and in that case it is better to have the dialogue spoken in a language that you are not familiar with, so at least you won't want to kill yourself.
>japanese VAs overact because it's really competitive and everyone just tries to out dick-wag each other
>western VAs underact because they're underpaid and companies just go for the cheapest VAs they can get anyways
Why is the VA industry so shitty?
I honestly don't even mind playing RPGs on my 3DS anymore just because it usually lacks cringe inducing voice acting.
Why said hia first native language is english?
You could try reading faster than a first grader.
Just cull yourself from the gene pool.
>getting this pissed off that someone doesn't agree with you
>I can totally tell the VA is better even though I can't tell where they're putting inflections or if they're just straight up putting on a goofy accent
Shut up you delusional weeb, you pnly put Japanese dubs on because it makes you feel haughty.
>he doesn't experience media in as close to the original form as possible
Pleb.
Ah, hello there Sup Forums.
Please explain us how bad it is for someone to portray the looks of a character and another fella to dub it?
Some actors are great but their voice is not fitting for the character or their voice is spot on but their looks doesn't allow them to have credibility on the great screen.
Stop acting as a contrarian elitist, you are making a fool of yourself. Cheers.
why the fuck would you want to play sonic adventure 2?
I always give the dub a try, and for vidya 1/4 times I'll actually prefer the dub if it's bearable.
People who automatically disregard the dub because it's baka gaijin are fucking autists.
English > Crapanese
prove me wrong
I would rather listen to unintelligible moonspeak than "GASP JOONPAY KOON!"
>german
>play english games in english, watch english movies in english
>no one bats an eye
>watch french movies in french, indian movies in indian, etc etc
>"that's the only way to watch these movies!"
>play japanese games in japa-
>"HOLY SHIT FUCKING WEABOO GET OUT YOU LOSER"
???
>same attitudes and sentence structure
This actually triggered me
>underact
Just because they're not screaming AM I KAWAIIIII UGUUUU, doesn't mean they're underacting.
who is your post making fun of? as if anyone watches without subtitles if listening to the original audio. you know what subtitles are, right?
I unapologetically enjoy English dubs and whenever possible I prefer them.
>both the English audio and Japanese Audio sucks
I'm gay too, user.
>"Hello my friend how are you?"
>"Buenos días, cómo estás, amigo mío?"
>"Guttentag mein freund wie geht es dir?"
>"Sumimasen kawaiii satoshi-kun desu baka onorre yamero?"
One of those is not like the others.
That's actually a very legit reason not to watch or play japanese stuff in english, you don't have to listen to the cringy dialog out loud
Underrated argument.
While this IS true for actual movies, animations/games don't suffer from this problem at all.
>Dragon Ball Z's Japanese castings have their own problems but the original Funimation and Ocean dubs are fucking terrible.
This. I remember really hating Vegeta's original voice in the early Funimation dub and Freeza's voice never quite suited the character for me.
All japs sound the same
>I am made of straw
>>What is DBZ?
YES YES YES YES
I CAN WIN
I FEEL GREAT
I
CAN
DO
THIS
UGH
This thread again.
Might as well say it here. I'm going to kill myself tonight.
Yeah, the 2nd has faggy looking Os and As
ALWAYS, the original audio, whatever it is. The golden rule, with very few exceptions.
Yup. Things usually sound better in their original language. I wonder if stuff like the Lion King and Batman TAS sound better in Japanese.
unrelated but
>foreign adaptation of an american film or franchise
>all the actors are foreigners, literally no one cares
>american adaptation of foreign film or franchise
>"WHY IS A WHITE PERSON PLAYING AN ASIAN CHARACTER REEEEEEE"
No, German is an ugly language. English is far superior to JapaNEETS
I just usually use whatever voice is default. So in anime a lot of times it is Japanese because there are a lot that just never get dubbed. But I'm not some autist who switches the Witcher's dub to polish because "oh, well it's a polish game so I should play it in polish". Same with MGS and such.
Also people only think jap voices sound better than english voices because if you can't speak the language you can't tell if it's good or bad acting.
>"I like men to speak like eunuchs and women like 5 year old girls with daddy issues"
Good luck my friend.
This,I've honestly never had a dub so bad I had to switch to Japanese.
I mean there's Xenogears but there's a total of 4 spoken lines in some sparsely placed animated cutscenes so yo udon't notice it but christ that dub is laughable, I started cracking up when I heard the villains voice in the ending.
youtube.com
>honorifics in English
This stuff is horrible, if they're gonna dub it they need to localize stuff too, rather than focusing on the irrelevant areas of the game.
I don't really mind English unless the dub is completely fucking atrocious.
>Always using the weeb card
I prefer any media in its original language. Be it Russian, Chinese, etc. The natives have the best idea of what kind of vocal range they want that character to have. How is that hard to understand?
Im Spanish and german is beautiful.
English is a great language aswell, perfect for poetry and music, kinda like french but without so much saliva in your mouth.
rip in piece
Evangelion's dub is shit.
I don't care either way for games. If I have the option, I turn off Voice Acting completely. It's very rare that the Voice Acting adds anything for me. The only exception might be based Sugita.
Spoiler. They don't. I prefer Japanese audio and a few times I've heard Japanese dubs of western media. It suffers from the same problems all dubbing does.
That's a script problem not a dub one you moron
>"AMERICA FREEDOM FREEDOM GUUUUUUNS"
>"AYAYAY DIOS MIO MUY AMIGO JAJAJAJAJA TEQUILA"
>"MINE NAMEN IST FRIEDRICH VAN DEUTSCHSCHMIDT HEIL HEIL HITLER GESUNDHEIT SCHEISE"
Your point?
>Also people only think jap voices sound better than english voices because if you can't speak the language you can't tell if it's good or bad acting.
Right, so by this logic if somebody makes non-verbal sounds you can't tell if they're good or bad voice acting? What about animal sounds, would you not be able to tell the difference in quality between a bored man saying "bok bok" and an actual recording of a dog barking because it's not in English?
there are few series where the nip voices are unanimously worse than the english ones
Sonic has been one of them.
Which is appalling, since Sonic has had some pretty bad dub voices (Tails in Heroes).
as a side note, the Redline english dub is a decent bit better than hearing it in nip, if not by quite that much -- but that's because both sets are pretty great
also, Eva sure as fuck doesn't have a better english dub than in nip
Theres some scenarios where the original voices are just flat out worse for the character's archetype, body, and general personality. Like DBZ.
I'm not. I'm heterosexual. And enjoy dubs. I'm still not going to apologize for either.
same user. see you there
>Some actors are great but their voice is not fitting for the character or their voice is spot on but their looks doesn't allow them to have credibility on the great screen.
Oh well, the director will have to take the criticism for bad casting. The only dubs that are acceptable are the ones approved by the director, such as Schwarzenegger's in that Atlas movie, or the terrible dubbing in Kung Pao! which is obviously a joke.
Listen man, JRPGs, as well as animes, say some of the cringest shit known to mankind. When it's in a language I don't understand and in written form, it doesn't sound nearly as bad. You can still understand the tone of things from the voices.
Such as?
>Japanese dub of MGSV
>Snake's actor is the same guy from the previous games.
>English dub of MGSV
>Snake's actor is replaced by the guy from 24.
It's okay, you can come out in your own time. There's no rush.
If I play games in Japanese I don't have to hear Yuri Lowenthal's screechy voice ever.
That's a pretty big bonus. Enjoy your ear rape, you self hating weebs in denial.
At least German is a real Germanic language unlike English which is 56% derrived from French and Latin.
Why do Ameriscum feel the need to ruin every anime or games they dub by altering the original dialogue by adding witty jokes and downgrading the seriousness?
>you can't understand it, how do you know it sounds good?
youtube.com
Does this sound good?
No, it doesn't.
Because my native language has no respect for the voice acting industry. And so shitty voice actors use it as nothing more than a stepping stone. Whereas in Japan it's a respected profession that people actually put effort into.
Hell there are multiple examples of English VAs saying they were given zero direction and just had to wing it.
So you're taking a game that was overseen by a director and made in a specific language and then translated over, which is never completely accurate, and then not only lacks the directors vision and intent but has nobody actually directing the people now dubbing it in a different language.
Also if you can't pick up on intonation and emotion you're literally autistic. I still appreciate Andrea Bocelli and recognize him as a beautiful singer even if I don't speak Italian.
>german is beautiful.
literally only foreigners think that
The japanese culture is praised because it appeals to manchildren and if the first anime was made by a swedish guy we wouldn't be having this converstation. That's my point.
Holy shit.
You're shit.
I would never refer to a germanic language as "beautiful" especially not german. Speaking german sounds like a ten foot tall ogre making grunting sounds.
I'm with this user.
I really cannot stand Japanese voices. They just sound terrible to me. English always has more variation in voices.
Hhave you ever considered that your discomfort with foreign languages lies solely in your inadequacies?
>Japanese voice actor for Metal Gear
>not a fag, wasn't replaced
>English voice actor for metal gear
>a fag, was replaced
What game did you play?
Venom didn't even have lines in MGSV
This cant be official.
>"CHING CHONG CHING CHANCHONG WONCHING CHANG"
There, since you left out Japanese.
>The only exceptions to dubs being better than the originals are the first xenoblade and space dandy.
>imblying
A good narrator can make any language enjoyable though.
Patrick Stewart could read me a jap visual novel and I would fall asleep listening to him
