YOOKA LAYLEE MIGHT BE

Yooka-Laylee will be the best one, Bloodstained looks a bit cheap.

Yooka Laylee i don't give a fuck since I think 3d platformers are shitty...but it looks pretty cute and the people involved clearly show some love for the game

Shantae is made by a company that already exists for years, I think its pretty obvious how the game will be

Bloodstained is made by a nip just because of the Inafune success and the E3 gameplay showed a game as bland as MN9...If it was a bet for shittiest of the bunch I would put all my money on this one

Shantae is going to be amazing. No doubt. I haven't been this excited for a game in years.

I've got a lot of faith in YL, considering who's behind it.

Bloodstained looks cool, but I don't know much about it admittedly.

Yooka Laylee will the best of the three. No doubt.

Day one pirate

Yooka - Unknown, might turn out okay.
Shantae - established series, we know what we are getting.
Bloodstained - by all accounts the game looks great and provided a demo, unlike MN9.

Finally a well thought out and respectable opinion on Sup Forums, even if I dont agree with some of it. Never thought id see the day

This is the reason why she still has to be crowdfunded even though there are 3 brilliant games out there

It's $30. Come on bro.

I hope that Yooka Laylee is both great and really popular. I'd love to see a return of 3D platformers that aren't Mario.

I'm also hyped for Bloodstained.

I should probably get around to playing Shantae.

At worst, they'll just be okay.
All three show more promise than MN9 ever did, even in their early demos.

Bloodstained being 2.5D is the only thing that worries me about it.

The people working on Yooka are also many of the same who worked on Banjo Kazooie.

They should be fine. So far none of the devs for these games have exposed themselves as con artists.

>I should probably get around to playing Shantae.

Do it. They're wonderful

No, backers getting exclusive shit = I pirate your game.

They've put out playable demos for two, and they both play exactly like they should

Can't be too bad after that.

well then why the hell didn't you back it?

I'm worried about Yooka-Laylee. It looks promising, but I kind of get the feeling it might just kind of go to show the reason why its genre (not just 3D platforming, the collectathon subgenre specifically) died out long ago.

Considering how well they handled DK Tropical Freeze though, I'm pretty hopeful. If nothing else, as long as the writing and atmosphere are their usual quality I can't see it going too wrong.

As for the other two, they're probably gonna flop. Even Shantae.

Tropical Freeze was developed by Retro.

Cause I missed it.

I have pirates curse from a humble bundle, overrated series imo.

>they handled DK Tropical Freeze
wasn't that made by that one Nintendo dev group in Austin, not people from Rare?

>They've put out playable demos for two
They all have playable demos.

?

I haven't been following Shantae too closely, but Bloodstained has a decent amount of hype around it. Metroidvania fans miss Metroidvania.

All 3 will be fine.

MN9's biggest problem was its shitacular PR between Dina, Judd, and Deep Silver's retarded trailers. The game itself was just aggressively mediocre, with little to no memorable anything.

>all three have the developers actually communicating with the backers and fans
>all three have some sort of early version demo
>all three have footage that looks okay
They'll be fine.

Shantae'll be alright. Hopefully it's not as derivative as the other sequels games.

Yooka-Laylee could be amazing, but it's also the most risky and ambitious so there's a lot that could go wrong. Regardless, I'm excited.

Bloodstained looks like a typical modern Castlevania. Not bad, but not exciting, Modern Castlevania is a series that's good for dependable entertainment, but not really anything special.

Modern Castlevania is mediocre 3D action games. Metroid-like Castlevania is dead.

That's a large part of why people are excited for Bloodstained.

You act like being under the thumb of a publisher is something an indie company like Way Forward would want when they can just look at their kikestarters and see how successful they are with no reason to change.

Retro did tropical dong. David Wise did do the music though, that's why it felt like old Rare DK.

Lords of Shadow is it's own thing. When I say Modern Castlevania, I just mean non-Classicvania. All the Metroidvanias are alright, but they're numerous and samey, it's not really exciting to see another one.

Don't know what to tell you, if you didn't care for PC you probably won't care for this one

I'm telling the guy to buy the fucking game so it does well commercially, gets Shantae more popularity and WayForward more money

I didn't say anything about publishers, cuck.

Whoops. Alright, revert to worried mode. At least if Wise/Kirkhope are on this we'll get good music out of it at a bare minimum.

>Inafune success

>E3 Gameplay showed a game as bland as MN9
First level of the game. Plenty of CV games were great, but the initial "get a feel for it" level was rarely that. Heck, Catacombs area for CotM was downright chill: youtube.com/watch?v=hhDvw7FmGo0

>David Wise
Ah, didn't realize he worked with Retro there.
That's really neat to know.

I'm looking forward to Yooka-Laylee the most.
A successful Kickstarter that doesn't produce another sidescrolling action platformer would be nice.

>worried mode
>literally the Banjo-Kazooie team who abandoned ship early before official Rare went full retard
>toybox, the alpha, shows promise

>didn't realize he worked with Retro there

YL is being made by a ton of ex-rare guys that lest Rare/Microsoft to make their own game studio. The guys behind YL are the same that were behind Banjo, Donkey kong, and a lot of the other Rare greats.

I honestly can't wait for the soundtrack. Wise and Kirkhope have the opportunity to make the most based ost ever. If only we could get Robin Beanland too.

shanntae and bloodstained look great

i want to believe in yooka layleee but there's not too much info

> I kind of get the feeling it might just kind of go to show the reason why its genre (not just 3D platforming, the collectathon subgenre specifically) died out long ago.

Because Rare left for Microsoft and started making games that nobody wanted, Spyro took a dip in quality, and nothing else ever approached their popularity apart from Mario, which is basically the only 3D collectathon platformer left?

Just because you don't like the genre doesn't mean that it died because people stopped caring about it.

Didn't play that one. I've never really been one for the 2D DK games, sadly. Mostly because they trashed my shit when I was a child.

Gotta give mad props to David Wise though, he's got some amazing talent, and has shown it off for the past 30 years.

Shantae has a good track record and they've already released a demo. You might not like the series, but it's going to be another solid entry from what I can see.

I didn't back the YL kickstarter and haven't seen the demo, so you'll have to ask someone else how that looks so far.

Bloodstained seems fine thus far. The art isn't a mess like our first look at MNo9 was. I don't recall seeing anything more than that, but it's still early in the cycle for that one.

I'm surprised you aren't putting Indivisible on there, now that the thread isn't strictly about Kickstarter.

Hell even his song Jungle Challenge sounds like it's from TF.

Yooka needs to put on a damn shirt.

That Rextro reminds me of the green things that ate the christmas light at freezeezy peak.

It's assumed that the project either has a publisher or else it's on kikestarter, and my point was that they don't need to have a publisher because kikestarter works just fine for them, meaning the game is not by any means forced to be on kikestarter because of piracy.

the twinkly munchers

Why do I keep seeing Half Genie Hero lumped in with these games and compared to Mighty No 9? I see how the other two work as a comparison to Mighty No 9 since it's the creators coming back to make a game, but Shantae is already established.

Yes
Yes
What
No

Because of kikstarter I guess

Bloodstained already has a demo out and it's pretty good. Development has been progressing fairly quickly and they've been very transparent. It'll likely be good.

Shantae also had demos, and while they weren't quite as good they're still solid. Considering the developer and series track records I think it's safe to say it'll be decent at the very least.

I haven't followed Yooka much but the little I've seen looks solid. Not a fan of the genre buy considering the talent behind it I think it's likely people who are fans will be happy with it.

None of them have any chance of being as bad as MN9.

Inafune was a scam artist. He was producer for a bunch of games, so he took credit for them being good. People thought he was the creator of Mega Man and he didn't challenge them on that.

Nigga please, I liked the genre as much as anybody else did. It's just a game's different when you're a kid and it's your first time playing it compared to when you're an adult and your standards are a little higher. I know a lot of people on here say the whole "it's dead because I don't like it personally" bullshit but that's not at all what I meant.

...

There is literally a 0% chance of Yooka-Laylee fucking up. When the sandbox released, people on Sup Forums were going insane about it, and that was just a taste.

My only question is which system to get it for, Xbone or PC.

>Yooka-Laylee
I actually have no clue, that ones completely up in the air imo

>Shawnty
will be a 7/10 game likely, cute and decent fun

>Bloodstained
My hope is that it's on the same level of Aria or Symphony, it will probably turn out to be as good as Portrait of Ruin, which is pretty fun actually, just nothing to write home about.

I liked the old Yooka-Laylee logo better.

I have no faith in Shantae to be anything more than decent.
They've been around for like 20 years and none of their games ever really had that extra bit of something that pushes a game from good to great.

>My hope is that it's on the same level of Aria or Symphony,

I doubt it. From the feel of the demo, it feels like an average NDS Castlevania. Kinda good, but not surpassing the best in the series. Which is okay. I suspect he's going to make a trilogy of similar games, and the next two will likely be better.

>"I Never played Pirate's Curse" The Post

honestly pirate's curse was fun but it wasn't great. it was worth about $10. the characters, art and dialogue were cute as fuck though.

Are you just going to immediately jump on the defensive anytime anyone says shit about Shantae?

its amazing how shit taste this place has, years of just shit

I really liked the first one. It was really impressive for a GBC game, and the tone, gameplay, and designs felt really fun and fresh. Pirate's Curse would probably be my favorite if I had played it first, but I hate how they keep recycling the exact same level and enemy designs over and over. It makes the first one stand out as being the only original one in the series.

How do you mean?

>3 brilliant games
1 is eh 2 is okay and 3 is incredible.

I wonder if those tumblr artists who draw white characters as big nosed brown people draw Shantae as a white person?

The real question, OP, is which game has the most fappable characters?

Healthy at every size.

Miriam a cute but Shantae is THE cute.

That would require somebody actually drawing Shantae first.

no but they get triggered whenever an article uses the old KS promo art where she's whiter than Vanilla Ice

Shantae has had several quality games without the assistance of Kikestarter, so I have no doubt 1/2 Genie Hero will also be a great game. Bloodstained's fucking 15 minute demo gave me more gratifying gameplay than I ever felt in the 45 minutes I played MN9, so IGA and his team would have to seriously fucking try to fuck that up.

I have no attachment to Banjo Kazooie or Rare platformers, so I'm not a good preemptive judge of Yooka Laylee

Yooka Laylee and Bloodstained both have demos, so you can just try them out. Response to the demos have been positive.

Way Forward never really stopped making games and they've been making games since the NES and the game is already part of a series. Like I think that's pretty proven.

>Yooka-Laylee
Looks as though something would have to go pretty badly wrong for this to turn out bad. It looks like the game will be solid, but whether or not it sells well is a different question.

>Shantae
Have no idea what this is.

>Bloodstained
I was unbelievably hype at the announcement of this, but what I've seen so far doesn't look that great. Can't put my finger on why. Waiting for the final product to decide.

I get triggered too. How could they have been so oblivious to the fact that they made the character pale ass fucking white?
