You realize that pokemon "evolve" in the same way that real animals do also, right? All living pokemon aside from the deities descended from Mew through gradual evolution. In real evolution, if you take a group of one species, separate it from its natural habitat, and leave the rest where they were originally, the groups will evolve separately until eventually you have two unique species where originally you had one. It does make sense, and it does make sense in the pokemon universe, you just aren't particularly well informed.
