Warframe: The Current State Of The Game + Forum Censorship

Can we get a discussion going on the way the game is headed (downhill in my opinion), and the state of the everpresent problem of censorship on the forum, including of course, jobsworth moderators who I'm pretty sure just moderate random stuff for random reasons to make it seem like they're doing their job.

Well it is a massively played free game. To not expect damage control on the official forums would be foolish.

I just enjoy sitting and grinding while talking to my mates. No amount of crap on the forums will change that.

I don't browse the official forums because they're garbage, but today I saw one of those Guide of the Lotus people say in region chat "Do not blatantly offend the new Nova Asuri skin or you will be kicked." From what I hear, the forum moderators have the same sort of "you can't say anything negative whatsoever" mentality. I don't like the idea of the Warframe community turning into a hugbox.

The only good part of this game once you got past the initial grindan is the porn

Yeah as of today I'm avoiding them completely. I mean for starters it's toxic as fuck because it doesn't matter what you say, how accurate you are in your points, the majority of players will contradict you purely for the sake of contradicting you. And if you get even slightly annoyed with it and point it out, the mods lock the thread and underhandedly say it's because of you and don't even mention the part the others have had to play. Mods tend to side with the majority rather than who's right from what I've seen. It's unfair. Pure damage control.

I got three warning points in the space of 24 hours for #1 posting something in general discussion when a mod thought it should've been in conclave feedback, for #2 posting profanity when technically I didn't because I said f***ing, etc, the mod actually changed those instances to "fudging" or "fudge." Quite pathetic really. It's a fucking word, changing it ain't gonna do shit because it has the same meaning and it's in the same context. I also said "crappy" a few times and they didn't touch that. Proper jobsworths I swear. Anyway, warning point #3 was because I posted a thread about aimbotting in Warframe, whether it was an issue or not, majority of people said no, people don't aimbot in Warframe. So I posted a video that was over year or so old, of a guy aimbotting. Thread was locked. Link was deleted and I got a warning for posting a link to cheat software LOL. It was a YouTube video.

The thing is though, I've had three accounts over the last few years (I have a thing for starting fresh once I get to a certain point). And I've always been an avid forum browser / poster and I've always been the same, pretty brutal in my criticisms, posting supposed profanity saying "f***ing" etc etc etc but blanking it out as shown. I've never once gotten a warning point until now though so I get the feeling that I was talking about some issues that well, basically, the moderators didn't want me to talk about?

The profanity thing reminds me of when I used to go to my local youth centre as a kid.

We were on a trip one day and we had a youth centre competition thing going on. One of the guys that worked at our youth centre was havin a laugh with me saying another youth centre's banner was rubbish. I was laughing, agreeing, saying it's crap. We were proper laughin about it, and I was like honestly I can't believe how shit it is. He went red in the face, told me to go away and then told the other workers and they all told my grandmother when she picked me up later on hahahaha!

I think over time the moderators have gotten more and more thin-skinned, so that's why you're suddenly getting warning points now. The funny thing is that I don't think the devs themselves mind criticism, it's just the mods trying to suck DE's dick and turn the forums into a utopia. Luckily, there are other websites to go to if you want to discuss this game that have more tolerable communities, and the devs still listen to these other sites for feedback.

Also, I think it's stupid that profanity isn't allowed on the forums, and is censored by default in game. The game has a mature rating, and you frequently see people being ripped to pieces, skin melted off by acid, etc. when you play it, so I don't understand why they're worried at all about profanity.

To be honest over the years, both the game and the forum have been getting more of a "loony left" feel to them in my opinion.

Freedom of speech and the freedom to criticise has been going down the drain and even the slightest inkling of anything negative is deemed hate speech / dev bashing.

It's counterproductive as fuck though and will only harm DE in the long run. Because the more they censor the players, the more negative feelings will be harboured against them. If they didn't censor and they allowed even the toxic players to run amuck a certain amount. In the long run things would smooth themselves out (as long as genuinely toxic players trying to be a nuisance were punished for their behaviour).

Y'know, let the community moderate itself.

Who gives a fuck what's being said as long as people are playing the damn game.

Excessive moderation might reduce one form of toxic behaviour, but it replaces it with another, one that's more underhanded.

Limbo is very much slim as fuck and not exactly manly user, mostly androgynous, Loki however is clearly built like a guy.

Like it all ya want, but I'm more of a cudles guy anyhow, and a 63 limbo would be neat, spooning on a different plane of existence.

Generally you need someone to play with at this point, someone who is willing to give you a few freebies. Once you get to a comfortable point the game gets pretty fun, but without help, getting there is terrible.

I duo it with a friend of mine who has hundreds of hours in it, and its fun as fuck. But if he hadnt give me a few choice mods, it would suuuuuck.

Game died when it became canon that warframe are just robots controlled by children lightyears away in space-cocoons.

I dont even think they're exactly "controlled" but more so "powered" by the kids. The frames still apparently have sorts of personalities of their own, like Valkyr's insanity. And of course you can just turn off the kid talking in the options menu and ignore it was ever a thing like most people.

There's still an ass ton of unexplained shit. Like how the Grineer were part of the Orokin empire, or where the spectre tenno are coming from.

The worst part is that it's clearly another cashgrab to get people to spend plat on their space potato. Can't trade customization options on the free market.
Focus is the worst thing ever too. Slowest thing in the whole damn world to collect, you only gain exp when the single gun/frame you have it on kills an enemy, and most of the powers are awful.

It was essentially a hamfisted retcon, Tenno being distantly controlled by children. Valkre was released prior to this, back when each Tenno was a unique individual and not a mass produced easily replaceable shell. It made sense that she was furious; now it doesn't make sense at all because Tenno child could've just jacked out and hopped into a new Sayrn suit to have more ERP.

It was established early on that there are many warframes out there, and that you were switching around bodies.

Valkyr was always a bit of a head scratcher since by the time she came it was established that there are say, multiple Embers.

Warframes essentially work thus:
Warframes are based on original warriors. Valkyr was a powerful Tenno who was then experimented on, and then the future Valkyr warframes were based on her insane form. Making Valkyr one of the youngest warframes.

Nothing at all has been retconned in warframe. Things were just left vague and as with all things vague, when it was explained people didnt like it.

That said, we knew about the kid thing way back when Ember prime was released back in 2013.

Nothing happened other than a progress system was made based on using already max rank weapons and frames.

And it was finally confirmed Tenno are controlled by children who were until now in comas.

No, that doesn't make sense. The current era only knows Tenno as the Warframe and that's exactly what Alad V experimented on as he knew fuck all about the the Tenno (reason for the experiment).

Put 800 hours into it. It's all gone downhill ever since the Chinese got DE . Also what they did to RevXDev was fucked up

Prior to them outright stating it, allusions were made that Tenno children were a thing but weren't directly connected to what we were led to believe were individual adults inside of Warframes, which lended to the notion that Tenno were a dying race and them constantly putting their lives in danger against their enemies while in frames.

It made things interesting. Frames being bland boilerplate mass-produced machines with zero personality ruined what little the setting, and therefore the game, had going for it.

The Orokin are canonically transhumans with upload/resleeving, I don't see why it's a suprise that the Tenno teleoperate surrogate bodies.

They're still biological, probably clone bodies. Alad mentions taking them apart, and them being basically what you'd expect but 'not quite right'. Probably refers to the neural scan.

Just doesn't make sense considering some of the storyline involving certain warframes like Valkyr being experimented on or Limbo blowing himself across the galaxy.

The void is now a location you can visit at any time on the star chart, but doesn't give prime parts as rewards anymore.

Void keys have been replaced by Relics. Each type of Relic has a few (5?) prime parts that you have a chance of finding when you open them. Some are common, some are rare.

To open a relic, you take it to a void fissure, which show up in random levels. You kill enemies that have been corrupted by the fissure to get reactant, and once enough reactant has been gathered, your Relic is opened and you get a prime part. If you're playing with other players, you can choose to have what was inside their Relics instead of yours.

You also get void traces from opening a Relic, which you can use to refine another Relic. Refining increases rare prime part drop chance.

Those are likely the originals, how hard is it to understand user. You naturally don't want alad or anyone to get tenno tech anyhow, since its already advanced as fuck and Corpus literally made mechs out of the bodies of copied warframes, they are still semi sentient beings though, not the originals but they are still alive, hence why you try and save as many as ya can user.

It's a surprise because it makes certain aspects of certain Warframes make no sense because they are explained on a personal, individual tone.

Writing prior to the reveal made sense because we were led to believe frames were individuals inside suits. Now some things aren't adding up.

How hard is it to understand that Alad V knew nothing about the Tenno at the time. He wanted to know more about them, she he cracked open a Warframe and found more questions than answers, which leads up to his involvement in second dream.

I don't think there's ever been any indication that the children control Warframes directly except for that new trailer for the War Within where Nyx's operator appears to be controlling Nyx directly.

And even that is questionable because we aren't clear on the mechanism of potato child to Warframe interface. Once you rescue your potato child it was always implied that they were riding shotgun via your mental link, but not necessarily that they were in direct control. Far from it in fact due to their warnings to the Warframes and the reverse-stand nature of using their focus abilities.

So the way I see it, Warframes still have a degree of sentience to them since the Second Dream. The children don't dream of what they are but of what they want to be. The Warframe personalities are idealizations of the children. The children live vicariously through the Warframe but more guide them than steer them. It's like how you're not always the same person in a dream but can wrest some semblance of control through lucidity. Like, the children don't need to control the Warframes because the Warframes want to do that same shit they do anyway because they are linked. Warframes are like symbiotic guardians.

People actually paid $30 for a skin that hides Nova's pudgy belly and hips? And who thought it was cool to have tennis ball encrusted armor? Why the vagina mouth? And that weapon, it has the handle of a shovel and the front end of a horse drawn plow with some kind of model boat glued to the end of it.

The problem with Warframe is the fact that most of the missions are based around "Protect This" or "Kill This", which makes a lot of warframes essentially pointless to use. Then they see if someone has a power thats too good, they just nerf the shit out of it so you move onto the next bullshit power which in turn gets nerfed.

Took forever just to convince them to give Ember that little buff. Especially with their echo chamber that's still convince Warframe is in beta.

I wish that was the only problem. If your favorite warframe is useful for farming exp/cores/whatever, even if it's only with a certain team composition they'll nerf it way into the ground even if it's kind of shitty for every other type of mission.

They changed the way the map works so if you come back you'll have to play the whole thing over again.
There are a couple new warframes but you have to really love awful RNG grinding and archwing.

How awful RNG grinding are you talking about? Nekros was the peak of awful grind when I played.

The grind has gotten so, so much worse than Nekros. You could get Nekros in a single evening even if you were kind of unlucky. Now there are things that take a week of constant effort.

I've never been more disappointed in my entire life.

Well, I quit after the last prime they released (before I quit) required 14,000 oxium (which dropped in bundles of 5-10 from enemies that are annoying as fuck to kill - as in they self destruct and if they do you get 0 oxium). It also required 20 Nitain which was a resource you could only get via alerts (one nitain per alert, once you play the alert you cannot repeat it), so if you weren't on at the right times tough shit.

They lowered the oxium requirement to 7k claiming it was an "accident" (which is bullshit), however that's still an absurd grind.

So I said fuck it, I'm done with this game, they're now blatantly trying to force people into prime access (which if it was $10-20 I'd be kind of ok with, but they want $100 fucking dollars for one frame)
