The first 45 or so are decent, but there's a huge period of shitty comics stretching from somewhere around issue 50 to issue 159. People disagree on exactly where the bad part starts.
1-50 is fine, but everything from 51 to 159 + the Knuckles series ranges from meh to awful.

86, 97, 126, and 127 are worth reading. Four issues out of the entire period from 51-159. That's literally all there is.
So what's with all the OCs in the comic anyway? Not counting the SatAM/other media imports, of course. Was it because of Sega's lack of direct involvement? Were there just not enough game characters at the time that they felt could make things work? I've always found it weird that they never really seemed to try and focus on expanding the game's stories and lore and instead made up their own and focused on literal recolors.
Maybe they'll finally drop the shitty cartoon original characters to avoid any furture copyright bollocks and use Mega Drive as their new main Sonic comic. And foxes might fly.
