in retrospect, what was the big deal?
In retrospect, what was the big deal?
it was nice looking
It was a walking simulator that had a cool environment to walk through and a neat little co-op method.
It wasnt God's cum ejaculated from on high but it was pretty good.
I liked it, but it was way too short.
>Beautiful environments
>Great soundtrack
>Lots of little secrets
>Gliding around is fun as fuck
>Amazing sand
>Fun co-op mechanics
There's no real reason to dislike it, unless you're already biased against such games.
it was a nice experience
only played through it fully once though.
tried playing it again but the impact of it all wasnt there anymore since i knew what to expect from the game.
> OMG, a game for PS3!
It's didn't do much, but it executed its concept perfectly. As far as short walking simulators go, it's probably the best.
This. It's like a cortado - doesn't take long to finish but it's fucking delicious.
It was a good walking simulator, which had an undertone of reincarnation, and higher power theme to it. I never played it twice, I mean why would I. But it was pretty fun. Got a solid 45 minutes maybe an hour out of it.
>Tfw hiding from the robot monsters
How is this a walking simulator? It has actual gameplay.
As good walking simulators do. Just because the genre is filled with shit doesnt mean they arent all bad.
Btw if you liked Journey, you will like ABZU too, it's also available for PC. Pretty much same idea and lenght.
...
...
I dont really know, but I was on benzo's when I played it and the experience was profound
>Mfw I realized those small statues throughout the game were graves
What, how are walking simulators video games? Is Sup Forums a video game?
>he hasnt figured it out yet
If you literally only move in the game, its an art show.It is only video. There is no game.Basketball is a game.Solitaire is a game.LOL IS LIFE A GAME?If you want to call it a game, whatever.
It was comfy.
It had a great soundtrack.
who /white robe/ here
I kinda want a sequel that does a little bit more world building.
Right here. In both the PS3 and PS4 versions.
Correction solitaire is not a game
It's a well made walking simulator that the online gimmick was great on release, I loved beating it with SPERMKING97. Just not much replay value and no difficulty at all. Pretty much a fun toy.
The visuals and soundtrack especially are fucking god tier.
- Stunning art and visual direction
- Evoking strong emotions of both joy and sadness through natural, non-story means
- (Possibly) experiencing those emotions with another human being and feeling connection to someone without any verbal communication
I don't mean for all that to sound like pretentious art crap, I think games should be good games first and intellectual/spiritual exercises as a bonus, but I really think the potential for emotions and insight was what made Journey special. Like others said, it was an experience more than a traditional game.
>looking at the first mural in the starting area
>everybody has a unique squigly symbol next to them
>it's their NAME
>that squigly above my head when I sing is MY name
It's a perfect example of art direction being always more important than graphical power.
You play Journey for the same reason why you look at a beautiful painting.
Titties
Honestly I think a lot of it boiled down to how cool your partner(s) was the first time you play the game. Particularly once the snow shows up and at the end. I imagine some particularly sensitive people just burst into treats at the end.
What is she about to do with that Hershey bar?
>play it a few days ago as White Robe
>all players are White Robes and very much in a hurry
Explore a bit, you faggots.
>you were a Pokemon the whole time
The face area is more attractive than those terrible tits and waist. 3/10 apply yourself.
>all players are White Robes and very much in a hurry
But why? They already 100% the game basically.
>everyone rushes now
>I still walk through all the levels unless flying is required to continue
I really like Journey, but it gets lonely with everyone rushing these days.
Man, fuck speed runners.
>give roomie PS3 titles to try out
>start with Journey since it's pretty short and easy fun
>WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS LIKE 30 FPS
>WTF IS THIS WHERE DO I GO THERE'S NO MAP
>THIS GAME HAS NO STORY LOL
>THIS CO-OP MAKES NO SENSE IT SUCKS ASS
>WHY WOULD I CO-OP IT DOESN'T EVEN BENEFIT ME OR THAT OTHER GUY
>I CAN'T EVEN TALK TO HIM
>Ok, I guess it has a story
>WAS THAT AN ANTI-POLLUTION MESSAGE OR SJW SHIT LMAO
Please end my suffering.
I dont know
I replayed it like 4 times, got the white cape, even tried being a guide for others
it was still the same boring walking simulator every time
who /NaissanceE/ here
I had the opposite experience. I got my normalfag friend to try it and he got all his hugelarge lifting fratbros to play and they all turned into weepy teenage girls. It was amazing.
lawl
That must have been a sight to see.
That's really weird. My roomie isn't even a normie, he's actually got a pretty good taste in vidya, cinema and Chinese cartoons.
Journey isn't any glorious masterpiece, sure, but I'm still baffled by how he completely disregarded and even ridiculed the co-op elements because the game didn't force you to interact with the other player/s. I thought it was amazing that you could choose to go through it together.
Gee, it's almost lke those "hugelarge lifting fratbros" are humans just like you. Stop being so uppity and judgemental.
>give roomie PS3 titles
>Journey
>WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS LIKE 30 FPS
He's right, you know. Should've given him the proper 60fps PS4 version.
I bought this not too long ago in a Flash Sale for 6 bucks.
Did I do good?
Woah fuck really?
Has any if them been translated? The symbols you sing reset every play through but you kind of get reoccurring symbols.
If you expect us to be attracted to your potato bod you got another thing coming
>owning a console from the current gen
Anything but that
Fuck yourself for jumping to conclusions
I thought I was with the same person until it ended. I even waited for him to catch up every single time and it was a magical experience that can only be had once.
>tfw the player list comes up
Man I wish they would do a full adventure/rpg game with journey artstyle, walking on that sand was amazing.
The ost was really good too.
They can't really be translated because they don't form sentences or more importantly have any context. It's just to make you think about individuality.
I had a similar experience with my artfag friend:
>why are you going there
>why is this other guy such a spaz
>can't you step on his scarf to make him hold still
>what are these squiggly symbols
>why are these tall robe guys so useless
>seriously, just try stepping on his scarf already
>do something, you useless robe fucks
>wait, that's it? he should've stayed in the desert!
It took the core element of Ico (traveling with a companion you cannot understand, but must rely on) and expanded on it into a literal journey that is ambiguous and unclear in its purpose and meaning. While the length might not satiate all, it doesn't quite overstay its welcome, and also leaves you wanting more in the good way a satisfying read does.
I didn't like it, not worth playing more than one time and in typical indie fashion you die at the end Seriously are there any indie games that are artsy where you don't? I never felt challenged by the game, either, could you even die through regular gameplay or does your scarf just get shorter until it can't anymore?
