I remember being in middle school and immediately dropping Ultimate because of those Johnny Storm races. Never played the other one.

Ultimate. I played the pc version of SM2, and despite having some fond memories of it that game was pretty garbage.

Ultimate is the GOAT Spiderman game while SM2 is the GOAT movie tie-in game.

This guy has reviews for several spidey games and I mostly agree with him. Mechanically, 2 is better than ultimate, but I wont argue against someone who prefers ultimate for its style.

Ultimate was awesome because symbiotes. I also liked the art style. Carnage was sick as hell. Actual gameplay was standard Spiderman fare. Also, why do super hero games go way overboard stuffing unrelated enemies into the mix? KInd of annoying. As for 2, its fairly overrated, but not too bad. Fun enough.

But my all time favorite Spidey games are Enter Electro on PSX and Web of Shadows on PS3. Both were awesome, had a lot of fun. I also enjoyed that beat em up one. The one where you could play as all those other characters? Was top down, kind of arcade style? Don't know the name, but that one was fun.

Web swinging was fun and you really got a good feel of Spideys aerial mobility and abilities.

SM2 on the PC had nothing to do with the console versions, it wasn't a port of the wonderful game released on PS2/GC/Xbox, it was garbage

did you try SM2 on Dolphin recently? as in, after 5.0 released? and did you try tweaking the emulator settings?

It works on pcsx2 for me. Leave it on software mode, put it on one of the higher preset settings, and maybe try enabling mtvu depending on your cpu.

If you have visual glitches like the hud being weird, play in 4:3 and disable widescreen hacks.

Hardware mode is all fucked up graphically, but gets me the best performance. I usually put it in hardware mode just to swing around for fun and see how messed up the city looks.

Spider-Man 2 easily.

This was probably the last decent spidey game
