Final Fantasy

What's the worst Final Fantasy and why do you think it's VI?

I hate opposite days on Sup Forums.

Because Kefka is a literal fucking autist

VI does have it's problems, i'll give you that.

It's one of the most bloated Final Fantasy games when it comes to parties.

It did not need FOURTEEN fucking party members.

>Terra
>Locke
>Edgar
>Sabin
>Cyan
>Gau
>Celes
>Setzer
>Relm
>Shadow
>Strago
>Mog
>Umaro
>Gogo

Like, holy shit. They could have cut it down to Terra, Locke, Celes, Setzer, Edgar and Sabin and that's all you needed.

spotted the butthurt VIIbabby

Celes wasn't even necessary in the story.
There is nothing in the story that suggests that Edgar wouldn't have been able to take figaro back on his own and then regroup everyone else.
Celes' one fucking story purpose was to dress as an "opera floozy" and that's it. The shit with
Cid was fucking meaningless.

IX

Feels like a fucking chore of a game

II is my least favorite, but I have yet to play any of the XIIIs. I just can't bring myself to actually attempt it.

Because it is.

VI will never be the worst as long as VIII and XIII exist.

But VIII is objectively the best FF.

Look it up.

I personally hate X. It destroyed my interest in the entire franchise.

That's a shame, you shouldn't let one bad game ruin a whole series.

VIII's much better in terms of story and gameplay
XIII's better for replayability

X is the best fucking FF you degenerates

And no, it wasn't my first FF

this, and
this too
why do people not like VIII?

>And no, it wasn't my first FF
The gameboy games don't count, dingus.

>XIII's better for replayability

Why the fuck would you replay XIII.

2. Dishonorable mentions: 8 and 13

You are right, but after that came a MMO that I don't give a fuck about, and 2 games that I don't care about either. X was the starting point of the downslope for me.

>empty a tiny poison bottle into a river
>the entire river somehow turns into poison, permanently
>the people of Doma drink the NEON PURPLE GLOW-IN-THE-DARK POISON ACID without questioning wheter it's good for you or not
>no only one retarded guard does this, but EVERYONE in the entire castle
Great writing all across the board.

The only thing I think I can say I really hate about 6, the other final fantasy titles often do as well. 6 Does it a lot more though, and that's the constant shifting out of party members.

I guess I could say I rather dislike how the game bounces character focus all over the place. One moment you're controlling a party over here, then the game just throws you in control of another all the way around the globe and it's too frequent to not be annoying. In my attempts at playing it it was less of a welcome transition and more of a "HEY ENJOYING WHAT YOU'RE PLAYING NOW? LOL TOO BAD YOU'RE CONTROLLING THESE OTHER GUYS NOW".

The fanbase is honestly pretty bad too, they're often the ones that start every argument in the fanbase, are easily triggered by everything that questions their nostalgia, and are the quickest to shit on anything that's not their game.

I rather think FF2 is still the worst in the series. It suffers from many of the problems of early JRPG's which is player direction, poor map design choices basically requiring a guide unless you make a good guess, a completely broken leveling system that can break the game to the point where you steamroll everything. At the same time I think FF2 is most deserving of a remake out of SHEER POTENTIAL. Oh my fucking god it has so much remake potential to make it a wonderful game that it's sickening.

I think it's all they really have left to remake properly too to be honest, especially now since they've already butchered FF7 remake.

I bet you are a woman.

X is literally FF's version of Twilight.

I don't like to be trapped in a corridor.

>why do people not like VIII?
Because it's really easy to play that game wrong.

Most people just spammed GF's and spent hours upon hours drawing magic, ofc they didn't enjoy it.

They do, but I didn't start there anyway.

Started with 4 and moved up

How can you let slide all the plotholes and the retarded story that makes no sense?

I'm not trying to be an ass I'm genuinely curious.

>objectively
there's that constant incorrect use of that word again

The fact is the game isn't that fun period, it has nothing to do with playing it wrong.

Also the characters are lame and the story is fucking stupid.

le bait meme! I LOVE MEMES!

Remind me of the plotholes again and I'll tell you

Only thing that comes to mind is Auron not saying shit to Tidus

13 for every reason compiled in the last 6 years. Any more elaboration would be beating a dead horse.

I love VIII, but it isn't surprising that people didn't get it.
Who buys a Final Fantasy game and expects to play YuGiOh all day to break the system?
I think the game would have gotten better reception if Triple Triad was presented as a main mechanic of the game, instead of a minigame.

same

I had higher hopes for XII. The intro was great, then the game began. Disgusting. Absoultely disgusting.jpg

I can't even understand how that's possible.

Every Final Fantasy game after V feels like a completely different game from each other and after X there was even more disparity.

If XI, XII, XIII, XIV and XV didn't have Final Fantasy in the name and the few obligatory elements like chocobos and shit were not present, no one would even be able to tell they are from the same series.

Reason why I hate the rabid fanboys this series have, that believe there's some kind of formula that makes it perfect or some shit

I played FF8 incredibly poorly when i first played because i was young and a dipshit and i couldnt get past the last boss because of that and struggled with everything past disc 1 but even then I loved it because of the soundtrack, atmosphere, world, lore, story and characters

>story is fucking stupid
You're stupid for not understanding it.

its clearly 13
if there was no 13, there'd be no 13-2 or 13-3

its not just about being one bad game, its 3 bad games if you think about it

That's the "Bioshock Infinite" defence.

You're a faggot.

>Cyan's face when

The fact that every game is different is why I stopped pretending that I'm a fan of a series.

I only like three FF games and that's okay.

Because X introduced Corridors-design and removed the overworld. Up to X, you could expect every Final Fantasy to at least pretend that you have a choice.
The hilariously bad writing is just the cherry on top.

Not the worst, but I think it sucks too. Especially compared to 3 and 5.

Yeah, I like a lot of things about FF6, but its writing gets very awkward very often, especially whenever Kefka is involved.

That scene with him in Thamasa fucking up dozens of Espers on his own stands out as an especially questionable moment.

...

Why do people ignore the fact that Locke kept his dead girlfriend in a basement for years?

>I only like three FF games and that's okay.

Says who?

It isn't okay.

Tactics > *

V = VII = XII/IZJS > VI = IX > I = X > IV > III = VIII >>> II = XIII > XIII-2 > LR

XI is excellent. XIV is a dog turd that has hardened over the span of four years.

Looking at the FF series now?

Oh yes it is okay.

>they do
Sure, fag.

X is just XIII with an even more female looking protagonist.

XIII, but that's too easy of an answer.

Not counting XIII, I'd say it's IX or III.

>IX

>XIII's better for replayability
hey, i liked XIII, but thats too much

Nostalgia is the only reason people could honestly enjoy IX
Sad but true

furfag please go

One of the worst parts in X are the stupid puzzles in the temples. Not because they're too hard, but because they're a fucking chore. Even if you are too stupid to solve it, bruteforcing it would give you the result in a couple of minutes. Solving them isn't satisfactory, everytime I arrived at a temple I groaned because I knew another badly designed puzzle was waiting for me, that very obviously only has the purpose to pad out playing time and nothing else.
The puzzles are especially bad because of the nonsensical limitations. Why can Tidus only pick up one Sphere in his hand? You see, if the puzzles were a 2D sokoban with a block as the player character, it wouldn't be as grating. But instead you're controlling a dude, and personally it just ripped me right out of the game because it made little sense to watch some faggot run around a temple, unable to hold 2 balls at once or use his fucking pockets in his hot topic pants.

IX > VII > VI > V > XII > IV > X > VIII > I > III > XIII > II

And for XII I'm talking about IZJS, imutual release was probably below VIII

Ahhhhh so that's what's going on. A bunch of squallposters shitting up the place

It was just really fucking boring.
Basically the core problem was that it took forever to get you to the interesting part, getting magic and summons.
You had to keep restarting the story over and over with the party split before getting everyone back to the first town.
Once you get past that point it picks up a lot but holy shit that's a hell of a crawl.

I'ts IV though. The story and characters are literal diarrhea. The only good thing is the adult Rydia porn.

The cast kind of killed it for me, I really didn't give a shit about any of them. Zidane was a really weak protagonist, even another moody edgelord would have been preferable.

Only other time that happened was XIII, but there everything about the game disgusted me.

>Not posting superior Knights of the Round

youtube.com/watch?v=5Av8flSjmMc

13-3 is actually good, though.

FF4 is definitely down there, though I'm not sure its worse than 2. I guess it depends on whether or not you give FF2 credit for helping to spawn the SaGa series.

>superior
Nah.

You remind me of the guy who got mad his character had to move in a set grid when playing a certain tabletop rpg.
It's how the game works there's no need to get assflustered over it.

It's just a shittier 13-2.

You have to be desperate for JRPGs if you find XIII-3 to be good.

...

>XIII > XIII-2 > LR

That's wrong though

I fucking hate XIV's art direction holy shit.

Gran Pulse was the only good thing out of Toriyama's fantasy, sorry. And only XIII had that.

I think it's bad design, deal with it.

Gotta appeal to them Generic shiny MMO babies.

Just for the record.

IV is bland as shit but at least it's functional. II is broken on multiple levels.

>Celes wasn't even necessary in the story.
She is the substitute mage when Terra is MIA. That's really all there is to it; they want a character who can cast magic by default available, and without her you would miss out of normal spells in half of the game.

Except that you only use celes for a short portion before finding terra AND gaining espers, both at the same time.
Again, story purpose.

>retarded story that makes no sense
Not that guy, but what about it doesn't make sense? Aside from Auron having no motivation to not tell Tidus what's happening, the story flows rather nicely.

>FF1 saved Square from bankruptcy
>1-5 were considered the definitive JRPG's that put the company on the map
>2016
>anyone rates 1-5 as the worst FF games
Why is this? I thought they were suppose to be good games?

>adult Rydia
Loli > adult

FFIV is only good because nostalgia, other than that it is quite awful.

FFIV has a worse plot than FFXIII.

Source please

If I had to pick one as the worst I suppose I'd pick the original version of II.

If you weren't such a creepy faggot who people wouldn't let their kids near unsupervised, you'd know lolis are shit tier.

>is central to the two most memorable scenes in the game
>meaningless
k

-12 is retarded because without cheating you would never find good weapons and equiptment
-13 is absolute garbage, gladly I didnt buy ps3
-8 drawsystem is fucking cancer so yo usually never use spells and gf.

It's memorable but it has no purpose or impact on anything and feels forced as fuck.

It's like Uematsu composed this nice song and they had no place to use it, so they pulled out Celes out of their ass just for the sake of creating that opera scene which just kind of happens and is never talked about again.

It's the definition of meaningless.

Those scenes are memorable because they are cringe worthy and dumb.

If FFVI ever gets remade people would realize how stupid these characters are.

>two most memorable scenes in the game
Terra going batshit in esper mode and kefka going nuclear after gaining statue power?
Yeah, totally.

>Shadow will never reveal he is Relm's father

Lost potential.

1-3 aren't liked because of archaisms, plain and simple.

There have been a lot of QoL type improvements in RPGs since the time those games were released and the average player isn't very happy when they aren't present.

I usually hear pretty resounding praise for the SNES game though so idk what you're on about.
Yeah, 4 isn't as good as 5 or 6 but it's still good.

>Celes has never sung in her life
>learns how to sing perfect belle canto in a few hours

Mary Sue anyone.

Nah lolis are so hot and tight hhhnngg

/thread

Celes is a mary sue for a shitload of reasons, including the opera house shit.

has any game had an opera scene with music, actors, set, musicians and everything at that point? it's fucking beautiful, literal kino

But the worst is 13, Everyone knows that.

what's she so mary sue about?
