Why is DaS3 HUD so fucking ugly?
Why is DaS3 HUD so fucking ugly?

It's the best one. The Dark Souls HUD was too simple, and shit like enemy health could be improved, then the Dark Souls 2 HUD had a shitload of unnecessary details and borders, and finally Dark Souls 3 managed to have a bit of both and look good.
I hate how the health bar looks when HO is drained and as I am colorblind I never clearly see how many health I lost.
because you have autism
>mental illness: the post
because it tried to be demon souls?
?????
I honestly like the DaS1 hp/stamina bar the most.
this is possibly the worst-constructed image in history
have another image that presents a selection of similar situations with varying huds for you to compare and contrast
DS2 hud is over-fanciful but it's better than 3 in that it has some appeal, rather than little, but DS1's hud has always seemed very chunky and bubbly to me regardless.
looks fine to me, faggot. did you really think this shit was threadworthy?
They stated it was a temporary WIP HUD when unveiled, but never got around to changing it
>critical battle can now be accessed
>boss already dead
I like DaS2 the most; 1 was simplistic but nice, 2 was "complicated" but beautiful, 3 is too simple I really just now found out that the borders in the item bar arent just straight lines.
Thanks a lot I did the pic related on some stupid instagram app, yours is great.
my friend, the most critical battle is the rest of the game
i was highly critical of it indeed
The most beautiful hud coming through
it's so simple and clean
I honestly don't know why they even included a durability bar for weapons on-HUD in DS3, that has to be the single most pointless and ineffectual stat in the entire game, even bar poise
The only thing it does is force you to sit at a bonfire every 10th or 20th invasion, though you're more likely to be forced to squat at a bonny for estus rather than repairs.
As a colorblind person it's legitimately problematic, the wierd tint used for depleating health is barely discernable for me, I had to chug estus like a mofo before I could mod it.
I still prefer das2, it's a bit overdesigned but it blends pretty well with the tone of the game, almost ghotic depressionism style
even i, as a dedicated pcuck, can agree to this. why can;t we have nice things?
>dark souls 1
frame rate is shit game plays like a lagfest
>dark souls 2
sweet sexy 60 fps optimized as fuck plays like a dream
>dark souls 3
a jumpy but mostly solid 30 fps tears like shit and plays terribad.
Are DaS2 fans the most autistic fanbase on this board? This is just getting pathetic.
why did they have to ruin such a beautiful game with those fucking filters? why even bother adding something taxing on the CPU like chromatic aberration when all it does is slow down the game further and provide literally nothing to image quality? why not use something more useful like texture filtering or more dynamic lighting instead? god damn it it's like they did all they could to make it look like a bunch of sand castles.
Having never played the game and probably never will, I also agree, that is really nice. Shit at the top looks so much better than the bottom.
That said, it wouldn't really work with general Dark Souls HUD because
>1 for left hand
>1 for right hand
>1 for Spell
>1 for Usable
And a big 4-box in the top left WOULD look bad.
Are you actually retarded? Chromatic Aberration isn't a fucking filter and doesn't require more CPU power, it in fact, is the complete opposite.
Well, he never said DS2 was the best, simply that DS3 was the worst. DS3's is very dissimilar to both so it's open to interpretation.
I will say that I liked DS2's HUD, though it always felt very wrong to me and I just don't know why. I think it was the very high contrast while also being in midtones, and the strange texture that a lot of menus had. Pic related.
It does feel more natural than DS1/DeS HUDs which I'd say is a huge positive. They both seem very plastic-y and synthetic, but at the same time DS2 feels overly gritty and textured. I don't think any of the games have a very good HUD to be honest.
This is a really fancy HUD, and I like that they've freed up the lower 3/4 of the screen, but I think I'd lose it in combat a lot - not that I've played bloodborne. Things also seem less obvious as to their purpose, but really in a game you have to devote yourself to anyway this isn't much of a problem, just bad glance value.
As much as I dislike exaggerated chromatic aberration, and do think they went a bit overboard with it, I also think it fits the game and the look they were going for, and it's not really that noticeable, unless you sit really close to your TV. Also, chromatic aberration is just post processing, so as the name implies, it's an extra effect added after the scene is already rendered, so it doesn't really add any extra CPU/GPU load. It's just a stylistic choice they made.
Generally I dislike it being used for anything. It feels like the artist looked at the finished piece and said "hmm, it needs SOMETHING." zap, aberrate. "that's IT."
It's fake detail and it's really, really cheap and noticeable. If you want an ethereal effect there are plenty of ways you can create it in-processing, but I suppose if you're working on a limited-performance environment and you want to keep a high framerate for general quality of life and to optimise your PVP experience, then you might want a computationally cheap option, but damn, it's just.. cheap. Blatantly present and blatantly cheap. It can work for some special effects in sci-fi, but on still images, and absolutely on an entire game, no, that's really unpleasant to me. Maybe you do notice it less when you sit at an average sofa's distance from a TV, though if it were on a PC then no, that would be nasty to have to see close-up.
CA is great when it's extremely subtle, because it simulates artifacts that happen on actual cameras, and it really helps to add a small amount of authenticity to the graphics, but it should only be noticeable if you go looking really hard for it, and in Bloodborne's case, you don't even have to put in effort on looking if there's CA because it's really strong.
Because people complained about durability in DaS2 instead of using repair powders like they should (because lolz soul memory), and they didn't want a system like DaS1 that is just so easy to forget either. There aren't even corrosive urns or soul memory in DaS3, so there is absolutely no reason to make repair powders this pointless, especially with the shitton of bonfires the game throws at you. You either make durability a threat or you remove it from the game entirely.
this, there is no reason to show the weapon and shield that you are using at all
I wonder if we can mod ds3 like we can ds1(i saw the guy that replaced all textures with a crab) If we can i could make a demon's souls hud mod for ds3, since I have the textures of demon's souls.
you forgot
>dark souls 2 looks like shit
>that image
Fuck, why did I never think about doing this? Make a character and help people fight the bosses, while having a name that shames them for calling for help.
It's really weird, Dark Souls 2 has the most "wrong" with it as a Souls game, but it's the comfiest one by far.
Especially with the DLC and SotFS.
I don't think bland and boring is comfy
Well BB also has 2 slots for right hand and two for left hand you just cant see it in the HUD. It only has 1 item that's true but I think spell and Item could be done better somehow in a similar fashion
It's barely noticeable on smaller screens. When I play on my 21" monitor, it looks great, but on my 36" TV it looks like blurry shit. I don't think they tested it on large screens.
My fucking nigga
>I know nothing about game design: The post
Chromatic abberation is usually used to put LESS strain on the CPU not more. Without it Bloodborne would probably have an even worse framerate.
>chromatic abberation
what is it? can someone post a with/without CA screenshot to see the difference? I never saw anything different/wrong with bb's images
>360p image upscaled to 1080p
>hey guys why does this look bad?
