I traded MMO's for multiplayer drop in drop out kind of games.
Warframe, Warthunder, Vindictus, some trading card game, etc..

Just pointing that I prefer those kind of games nowadays because they sell by it's gameplay. The grind is there, yeah, but the grind is just to pass the time, but the sellpoint is the gameplay.
MMO's are just selling through grind gear or grind a mount or grind whatever. All these games have grind but it's a very different approach to multiplayer, an approach which i prefer...better presentation and better gameplay.

The benefit of MMOs is a persistent realm, free roam, and an economy, not to mention roleplay and raiding.

Don't tell me what MMO are, i play this shit since 1998. And i tell you, i'm tired of MMO's nowadays. It's all the fucking same, i already saw it all already. Yeah, EVE is almost different but like i said, too much investment for too little fun, i rather keep playing "round" based games and move on. Until some actual breakthrough regarding MMO's come along, that's probably 10 years from now if we skip the hack & slash (a.k.a diablo likes) mmo's that are the horizon.

With transmogging becoming a thing in most MMOs, people are beginning to look more unique. Wildstar has one of the better transmog system out there, though the prices of mogging some of the better looking gear and dyes can get really salty. Still, I'll rather pay a bit of extra to be able to transmog anywhere as opposed to going to a transmog npc every time I want to do it, not to mention that costumes you create stay on regardless of equipment changes that might occur.

DCUO also had a great costuming system. Wildstar is actually similar to it now what with how you can unlock the look of gear instead of having to keep the gear itself for the costume piece, but it still has problems where there can be duplicates.

I've been spending most my non raid time in wildstar doing pvp, it's a lot more active now and enjoyable since I finally geared up.

Has anyone here played Aion at all recently? They have a 5.0 patch out and apparently the last few big patches (3.0/4.0 etc) have massively reduced the grind and added a lot of quests to the game.

I used to play back in the oldschool 1.0 and 2.0 days and my god the fucking grind was atrochous. I remember playing sorc and it taking me hours to get from 33-34. I just couldn't handle the fact that I had to stay in one spot for hours and do the same thing over and over and over and over again.

But I liked the PvP a lot. There was a shit ton of skills and every class except Temp and SM were balanced.

I remember when it first came out and i mistakenly bought a lifetime sub for it... At least it was fun for a month or so.

It's because all the mmos are made for normies
So anyone who sinks any real time into the game will go through all the content in like one month
