Please attempt to explain to me why this game isnt just a big ol' ball of hype and will be boring and pointless to play after a day or week of gameplay.
Please attempt to explain to me why this game isnt just a big ol' ball of hype and will be boring and pointless to play...
It doesn't take any explanation. Just a pea sized brain and a set of eyeballs.
you seem to understand the game pretty well already so theres no need to explain anything to you
/thread
I said Please.
You mean like what people have been saying since its announcement?
But it is exactly
> a big ol' ball of hype and will be boring and pointless to play after a day or week of gameplay.
There's literally nothing to explain. It's so evident that IT IS this.
This is the part where we pretend that anyone was hyped and that the majority wasn't saying it would be a boring game with predictable procedural maps.
The game isn't for everyone. Please be considerate. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Not sure what you want?
Here is the gameplay of No Man's Sky:
1. Fly to new star system, maybe blow up a couple of space pirates, scoop up the raw materials they leave behind.
2. Land on planet, get out, shoot a door or rock or maybe a randomly mashed together plant/animal, collect the raw materials they leave behind.
3. Find a blueprint that gives you +1 damage on your laser. Don't have the right materials for it. Go to the trading box, sell some carbon to get some plutonium so that you can make the +1 damage.
4. Scan some rocks.
5. Take off in your space ship, go to next star system.
That's it. There's nothing else to do in the game, and the core gameplay mechanics (shooting, flying, etc.) are like, student project game levels of complexity / fun. You're shooting a door for 20 seconds with a laser beam until it runs out of health bar, and you have to go into your inventory to reload your laser beam twice during the process. That's an actual key gameplay moment of No Man's Sky.
strictly exploration games are pretty rare. this game is space exploration with a bit of player progression, a "living" universe, and fighting dangerous elements (creatures or environments). seems good and comfy to me, but i can imagine it would get boring for a lot of others.
what do you even do in the game?
This is pretty much all I've seen happen. All the live streams I've watched people seem pretty bored just walking around some planet randomly shooting rocks..
I had a lot of fun with GTA5 for the first 30 hours or so, driving around, causing chaos, doing missions, the usual.
I booted it up one time on acid, played for 5 minutes, and realized that everything I could do with it was basically a predetermined loop.
>be on foot
>find car
>drive until bored
>cause chaos and gets cop on tail
>continue until dead
>repeat
Ruined the game, couldn't stand to mess with it ever again.
Had the exact same moment with NMS just by hearing the developers describe it. For all the "endless combinations" of palm trees with pineapples instead of coconuts and snakes with cow heads, there doesn't seem to be any room for actual adventure.
It's just a typical open world survival game with procedural generation but nicer graphics than the usual.
I don't think it'll be bad but it certainly won't live up to the hype or expectations and won't change gaming as we know it.
ummm you missed the ATLAS stations...? they're the key point to the whole narrative and main quest in the game
6. Fly to an atlas station, learn some new alien words and pick up some more upgrades.
7. NOW you fly to the next galaxy.
Really fleshes out the game and makes you think about the universe and shit
>how could you forget the best part of all: visiting hubs
Goty then
scan rocks and creatures and then move on.
thats it.
don't worry user, this sub will be full of peoples opinions on it soon, none of them will have played it mind.
>sub
damn, you got me, was shitposting on /r/ukpolitics.
i'll kill myself later.
This game is a prime example of how advertising is overpowered. It can sell a turd for £50
OP here guys.
I just heard about this game today desu so i missed the hype train. If there even was one. This is a pretty looking survival crafting game but seriously it looks boring as fuck.
