Mario Kart could use the Paper Mario parters rendered in 3D. Then you've got a goomba, koopa, a boo, a bob-omb, a cheep-cheep, a lil' sparky, a lakitu, but they're also they're own characters who look unique, while still sticking with the simple design style of the series. Only Lakitu should be replaced, Koopa Troopa and King Boo need to come back, but King Boo should use the Luigi's Mansion design.
But hey if you hate that idea, we could always have Baby Wario, Baby Waluigi, Baby Bowser, Tanooki Luigi, Fire Peach, or Platinum Yoshi

Fuck off the classic designs are great. There's only one playable Koopa Troopa and Lakitu so why the hell would they need to be "own characters who look unique"?
I kinda wish they gave you the options for different-colored koopa troopers (at least the basic red and green shells), like they did for Yoshis and Shy Guys.

Instead of retro tracks the next game has 16 New Mario Tracks and 16 Tracks based on other Nintendo Properties like the DLC
But the roster is purely aesthetic, it doesn't impact the game.
We don't need graphics, sound effects, course variety, or music then do we? Just use the hitboxes. Of course it impacts the game. People like playing as good, new characters as much as they like going to fresh, new locations.

Other than maybe the overworld, these ideas are pretty terrible. Don't turn Mariokart into something it's not.

I'd say bring back Mario Kart 7's drifting or item balance
200 cc mode is a failure, but I don't mind it being an optional class. It's fundamentally breaks every track design and makes it not fun to drive, but hey, like i said as optional shit...

make stats flexible and not tied to a kart or a driver, at least most of them. a roster doesn't mean anthing if everyone is only using one character with one kart/tire combo.

MK8's item balance is better; I didn't notice much difference in drifting.

They kind of are in MK8 since you pick the parts, and each part has different stats that can be mixed 'n' matched.

I like the coins on the tracks, gives you something to collect whilst giving you a minor boost - coins shouldn't show up as commonly as they do in MK8's item rotation, though (at least give them another use to compensate).
