I find it hard to believe that both Snakes were ignorant of a third clone who literally became THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. Sure, he looked older, but that should have just made Snake curious why he looked like Big Boss.

His inclusion made no real sense and he had almost no relevence after his death. Liquid showed up in one game yet is still one of the series main characters while Solidus is lucky to get mentioned once every couple of games by Raiden

They should have just brought Liquid back in 2 and made him the antagonist again

Because MGS2 was meta as fuck. How do you address the fact that characters know they're in a Video Game in a sequel? Giving him more screen time would have muddled MGS2s meaning even further.

I'd say Big Boss and Liquid are as fleshed out as Solidus, though Liquid borrows a lot from Big Boss.

Solidus has his roots as a character in MGS1. You're complaining about shit MGS1 introduced, not MGS2.

Solid us being the president is a metaphore for how Kojima can say whatever the fu K he wants about the characters in the series and you're required to eat that shit up because he has utter control over reality (ie KojiPro are the Patriots)

What drives solidus is "memes" he wants to leave something to the world like everyone else.
But he can't have children, so what he decides to do is change the world forever. Take down the patriots, he may be doing it out of selfishness but he is also driven by patriotism, love for his county and it's people.

He might have been fine as a character. The issue is, he has no narrative reason to exist. With Liquid, Revolver and Solid Snake all existing and being possible antagonists, and the lack of relevance for Solidus as a character make him seem out of place. Dead Cell seems to be in game to add boss battles. Solidus? He's not even the real villain.

Basically the least of all evils with enough power to change the outcome of history.

All of that shit, the Patriots, Solidus, is just a metaphore for Kojima literally just making up shit in order to give the player a reason to be doing the shit they do, which is why the game continually pulls the most obviously retarded shit out of its ass, why it feels like the exposition Campbell keeps giving you is a lie, etc etc. MGS2's entire moral is "I could've made a much more interesting game if it weren't for the fact that it had to be metal gear, for the 4th time in a row, fuck you to death until you die play as this boipussy."
