Sup Forums likes to shit on DS3 but I have to ask, is it at least fun?
I'm thinking of getting it when it's on sale and bro-oping the game with my mates, will I have a good time if I go in with low expectations?
It can't be that bad, right?

>taking Sup Forums's opinion seriously
It's not bloodborne good but better than DS2
It honestly has the worst first half in the series.
I might be in the minority, but I actually really started to appreciate Cathedral of the Deep and The Crystal Sage area a second and third time through.
It's not that bad OP, but it is a disappointment if you're expecting DS1 quality. Gameplay is a hit or miss for most, no poise fucking blows, but it is fun once you find a weapon you really connect with.
Worth a playtrhough for sure. Greatg level design, but not as well interconected as ds1
It's fun for at least a play through. Don't look anything up though or it gets less fun real fucking quick. And don't co-op the bosses the first time or it'll be too easy
It does have the best boss theme in the series
>implies you shouldn't take Sup Forums's opinion seriously
>proceeds to state an opinion, on Sup Forums
Your dog would have a more valid opinion than what /vee/ thinks
if it's your first souls, you'll love it
if have little experience with souls, you'll probably think it's one of the best
if you've played a lot of souls, it'll be worth a playthrough but it will frustrate you
It's ok, i guess. I had more fun with DS2 but DS3 is a better "experience".
This is the same website that gets butt flustered any time a game that's slightly hyped up comes out. Everyone on this site has an impulsive and knee-jerk reaction to hate anything. You SHOULDN'T take anything this site says seriously.
But at the same time, this site is the best way to get information about the latest games because people are so eager to shit on them.
It's fun, its definitely worth a playthrough or two with friends but there are several flaws that will nag at you the longer you play it.
No it will be good. People like to shit on this because the souls formula it's getting boring imho.
You actually haven't played yet because some shitposter on Sup Forums said it wasn't good?
Holy shit, that's sad.
>dark souls 1 is still in steam's top 100
>more people have played borderlands 2 today than dark souls 3
Borderlands 2 is fun
>15 million people are playing overwatch
>F-FUCKING SHEEPLE
>Only a few people are playing dark souls 3
>AHAHAHAHAHAHA BTFO HAHAHAHAHAHAHA DEAD GAME LOL
that's some heavy duty projection there, buddy
i play overwatch and i think das3 is the worst in the series
...
The main game is great, invasions are somehow even more fucked up than DaS2.
>is it at least fun?
more fun than I had in DaS2
It's just way to linear.
And has some real shitty zones.
None of the zones are 'bad' persay(like unfinished areas like Dark Souls 1). They're just not fun to play.
It's my favourite souls game
>You SHOULDN'T take anything this site says seriously.
>post, which is on Sup Forums, contains several assertions
>bro-oping
Grand archives is easily the best area in a souls game.
Enemies having poise and inf. stamina while you don't is really obnoxious in DS3. People meme about mobs in DS2 but if you're good they usually aren't huge problem. Mobs in DS3 don't give you the same windows, and they can't because of how brainlessly free rolling and sipping is.
As someone who has played a ton of Souls, trying to run as a sorcerer early was perhaps the most cancer I've ever gotten in across all the games. I can't imagine how a completely new player would react, other than to naturally gravitate towards straight swords and quality. Pyromancy isn't as bad because you can rush Izalith 2.0.
Oh, and linear as fuck level design + no NG content + no weapon veriety + aweful invasion and covenant mechanics = dead ass game, 0 replay value.
All the Soulsborne games got massive improvements in the DLCs which are usually regarded as some of the best parts of the game. Either wait for those to hit, or get it on sale and hope the trend keeps up.
>All the Soulsborne games got massive improvements in the DLCs which are usually regarded as some of the best parts of the game
and yet the DaS2 DLC was just as bad as the base game. If not worse
Should probably play an easier game if you get mad about dieing user.
>Should probably play an easier game if you get mad about dieing user.
I did. It's called Dark Souls 3
>WHWHWHHGHGHGHH
>YAUUGHGHGH
>pssssssh WHRRRRRRRRR crystals breaking
Way too many meme elevators.
Also since I wear heavy armor thralls aggravate the fuck out of me when they slap me around like a cheap bitch.
The candle head should've also been a helm you got at the end of the level, just for fashion.
The part with the triple gold angel knights and the rafters was amazing though.
Reminder PCucks ruined everything and should be removed.
>actually taking the time to make this
Holy shit
I don't particularly like some of the early zones and how linear it is but it's still fun, enjoyed it more than DaS2. Currently subject to a bunch of ridiculous hyperbole and shitposting that nobody who played more than one other Souls game would ever believe (like worst or most unbalanced PVP), although it does have noticeable flaws. Pirate it and if you like it then buy it and play with your friends.
it would be good if they wouldn't fuck up poise
Quality build literally overpowers everything, and I mean everything else.
Refined gem (quality gem) provides more than gems geared to a specific stat (heavy-STR, sharp -DEX) to the point where having a 66 STR heavy infusion ends up giving worse returns than a 66 STR refined infusion.
Enemy mobs made faster, and so did some of the weapons like swords and curved swords. But for some retarded reason, heavy weapons are slower than the fucking previous games.
Poise and Vitality is a meme stat. As useless as resistance. As long as you have some shitty robe on, you can HA trade with full Havels if both of you use the same weapons.
Speaking of Havels, the damage difference between the LIGHTEST armor and HAVEL (2nd Heaviest) is a whooping 10% difference in damage taken AT BEST. Ignore the Abs bonuses because this game uses a set of retarded rules when it comes to defense and damage taken.
But hey it looks graphically nicer than DS2, so 10/10.
How much time did you take to make this you fucking baby?
>early game sorcery is hard
Soul arrows do damage safely, Deep Axe if you need a weapon, kill Vordt easily with both, get Yoel's levels, get Soul Greatsword for heavy magic aoe damage, and now the Dark Hand since it's been buffed. It's that easy.
Yes, its more comparable to 1 than 2 and thats a good thing. Is hard but in a good challenging way, nothing like defeating a boss after a couple tries its a good feeling
It's the Twilight Princess of the Souls series: in theory it should be perfect and exactly what everyone wanted, in practice though it's too familiar, too safe, almost a Souls series best of.
It's still good, even better with friends, just a bit disappointing if you've played DeS and DaS before.
Purposefully taking hits in order to retaliate for higher damage >>> getting hit accidentally but it doesn't matter lol
Everyone keeps saying there is no poise, so does that just mean I should play it like bloodborne?
Everyone is misleading or at the very least uninformed. Poise relates to the hyper armour on heavy weapons now, if you get hit a few times then it won't activate, similar to how old poise would be broken with repeated hits. This means you can't get away with just slapping on armour and taking hits for free, you need to take action to go through something, whether it's swinging a big weapon, casting Iron Flesh or using a weapon skill like Perseverance, which lets you take hits freely without staggering and at reduced damage for a very short time. Play it how you want to, but play it like Dark Souls 3.
Quality is stupid good, especially when 2handing and using rings to save on levels.
You make it sound like refined is better no matter what, which isn't true. It most definitely can be better than 66 STR Heavy depending on other stats and the weapon used considering not all weapons give the same scaling for an infusion or have the same base damage.
Pretty much true outside of heavy weapons being slower.
Pretty much true.
Pretty much true.
DS1 > BB > DS2 > DS3 > DeS
Not a chance in fucking hell m8
>DeS is the worst
>DS2 over anything
5 minutes kids, I'm not a slow retard PCuck like you
How did you enjoy Dark and Demon's Souls but not the first DS2 DLC?
You don't understand. Sup Forums is the other guy, I'm trustworthy.
But how did you make the collage on your PS4? You're not a PCuck, are you?
Not him but the main area was good while the enemies were usually irritating and the optional area and its boss were trash
because the DS2 DLC has the same problems plaguing the base DS2 game
>using a computer for work =! using a computer to play shitty video game ports like a cuck
try harder than that PCuck
BB = DeS > DaS1 > DaS2 > DaS3
>touching a pc
Hahaha he's a fuckin PCuck!! Everyone look at him, it's PCuck boy!!! Where you going PCuck, off to shave your neckbeard?? lol
>These faggots still don't understand
DS1=BB>DeS>SotFS>>>shit>piss>DS2>DS3
Better but still wrong
>shit over piss
You can avoid getting staggered with hyper armor, but the number next to "Poise" means literally nothing.
>He thinks piss>shit
Whom are you quoting?
not true, essentially poise is now the stat that dictates how much damage you can take before you get knocked out of moves with hyper armor
the higher it is the more it'll take to do so
>working as intended
One of these days this is going to stop happening.

I should probably add that it's likely that the type of weapon you use adds a multiplier onto your current poise value, which would explain why you need to have at least something on for hyper armour to take effect.
Don't post outdated shit
youtube.com
Its an invisible meter like bleed in the game. Poise itself is convoluted thanks to so many different weapons having different multipliers for poise tanking and poise damage.
>Beat almost every boss in 1-3 tries except Nameless King, Twin Princes, and Dancer who all probably took me around ten
>also DRAGONSLAYER ARMOUR who took me literally four days of poopsocking it to beat
I don't understand how people find him so easy, he's literally the hardest boss in the entire series for me, and I've never struggled on anything more.
I prefer both DS1 and DS2 to DS3 by a long margin. They both had far, far better exploration and >>>lore than 3, while also having better pacing, variety, and >>>>>>>>>>balance to their combat.
DS2 kept me engaged longest out of the 3, and maybe more consistently than DS1 because that had some really weak zones and bosses.
If you haven't played DS1+2 and you want a fun action game with cool bosses and co-op, then sure, you'll love DS3 and it might even end up as one of your favourite games.
The bosses are probably the highest ratio of fun, difficult, impressive bosses in the series, but at the same time they all have massive flaws, such as being completely unable to deal with ganks, being useless for 25/33/50/100% of their fight because everything is 2-phase with a useless phase 1, and many have downright laughable gimmicks.
I would hesitate to buy the season pass for DS3 just because it's left a bad taste in my mouth, but if it can match DS2 DLC quality then I'd buy it later. Of course, since everyone I know already has the season pass, I'm obviously going to fucking buy it just to play through it with them, even if it is Fallout 4 levels of hot shitty garbage.
Nothing I've said or posted contradicts what you or that video seems to be saying. This is a lot longer for proving the point but I'll add it to the list anyway for whenever someone says incorrect info about poise, thanks.
>Its an invisible meter like bleed in the game
Yeah that's basically how it's always worked.
yes its fun unlike dark souls 2
>PVE
BB>DaS1>DeS>=DaS3>DaS2
>Informal PVP (invasions, fight clubs turned free for all, mound maker turning on you, etc.)
DeS>DaS2>=DaS3>BB>=DaS1
>Formal PVP (duels, fight clubs, etc.)
DeS>BB>DaS3>DaS2>DaS1
>dark souls 2 exploration
is this guy serious?everything is empty and rushed in dark souls 2
Funny, I remember when it was released Sup Forums praised it as the best souls game ever
>ds1 over des
lost izalith is calling
Those videos are wrong. They didn't test those videos after every 30 seconds - because that's how long it takes to reset poise.
>duels, fight clubs, etc
>DaS3>DaS2
>PvE
>DaS3 is better than anything
>everything
>posts the same screenshot as everyone else who posts this
Well sure, I'll believe that you played the game.
Nice meme
The videos are always mistimed and online for fuck sake. Doing that HA method testing on regular moves is completely different.
*mobs not moves
They ruined it long before 3. The Souls community was great till after DaS released when the PC version came
Here a screenshot i've took myself
>hey look a hallway that have just the size so you can fit on it!
>but there's a invisible wall! so much exploration!
Dark Souls 3 is fun...the first time you play through it. It has the least replayability out of all the games by far.
>guess what a new hallway full of nothing!
I know, that image doesnt even scratch the surface of how cancerous they are
remember all the flood of PCucks whining about how their game was broken and they couldnt beat ass demon for HOURS when pc dark souls 1 was released on Sup Forums alone?
Why doesn't anyone like lost izalith? It could have been longer, but the overall design was cool.
What about this epic place? I love this empty things that are all over the level.
Lost Izalith was complete shit to play but the exploration and world in DaS1 puts it over DeS for me. DeS PVE is still good, I just prefer DaS1's style over it.
That would be correct on both accounts.
>It could have been longer
GOD PLEASE NO
it was awful its like a dark souls 2 area(with better area design than anything in ds2) but in dark souls 1
I pirated it and I had a bunch of fun. Solo first time through of course. Played every game up to this point not including dlc and it was really fun. I think the fact that I picked up an uchigatana and leveled strength and dex had something to do with how easy it's been. Played for a few hours and I'm past farron keep.
You'll have fun at first, thinking it really is the game you were waiting for!
You'll be flying through the levels, dodging your way to victory with your dark sword!
"Haha! This game is awesome!"
Then you'll slowly start feeling... bored with it.
Tired with it.
"How can I be bored with dark souls? It's probably just me being burnt out on the series"
Then you'll go back and play Das1/2, and discover something startling
You're actually enjoying them.
"Then what's wrong with das3??? Why am I finding it boring?! It's better than Das2 at least!"
But no, again, you find yourself getting bored with das3, while enjoying the older games.
You'll go online and scour the internet for reasons, shitpost on Sup Forums about why it's the best game in the series
You'll even try to convince yourself it's better than bloodborne
Then you realise why you can't bring yourself to enjoy it.
You'll shake and scream that it's wrong, that it can't be true.
But in the end, Dark Souls 3 is Fromsoft's worst game.
>pirated
>uchigatana
>dex
Lothric and CoD shit all over DaS2 which only had Bastille in early game. Carthus is legit awful though and farron keep is nothing special.
Do you just not notice the cuts in the videos or something?
The swing timing looks pretty consistent for each attack on all of them and they do it several times each time, what would it matter if it's online as long as they have a steady wired connection and are close to each other? There's three videos now anyway and they all prove the same thing to varying degrees so I don't see how it matters anyway.
What about the epic scenarios?
Okay lad, name me 3 duel/fight club locations in DaS3. And pontiff's one doesn't count.
Dark Souls 1 has the best PvP hands down and is still active even on consoles. I have gotten on my 360 and done invasions in anor londo for the past 3 months at all different times and constantly invade. I went from 0 to 10mil souls just on invasions at level 64, it's the shit.
>location
The fuck difference does location make for a fight club/duel. All that matters is that you have some space.
