Umihara Kawase Thread

I still need to work on the map editor section but here is a pastebin with downloads to all three games. And guess what is listed, map 3 of my new fan mapset Uku (float). All last week was spent trying to understand everything and I think I have found a balance. This map was made yesterday just in time for sleep.

I even found a use for the unused enemy catfish. I will be dumping the Umihara Kawase manual

this is an overview of the new map. this thumbnail is in fact the eye straining size of the editor. this took me 4 revisions, 8 test maps to learn various physics for the basic stats, it felt like a level 3 so im glad i foresaw that

Wait so Umihara Kawase has a level editor?
Is it hard to use?

it has one and its not very difficult to use but its a little tedious. needs some polish definely, most of that pastebin is dedicated to documenting everything I could relating to the editor if you want to see some of the shit you have to deal with

Nice. I like level editors (I used lunar magic a lot) and Umihara Kawase is one of my favorite series so I will try Riverback.

If you get proficient at it maybe we could make a team somehow for a romhack. I don't know how it would work but there is an export and import level option in riverback. Problem is I can't seem to get it to work

last page

The import and export buttons do work actually, you have to save the rom before you go to the next level else it reverts which is where I was fucking up. If anyone feels up to helping with the romhack I am working on message me on kawasefan.net/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=49

and we can figure out a game plan. Also message me if you have questions because I may know the answer

I must have made a thread at the wrong time of day. I will make another when I have more levels to show, maybe 5 or a branching path something cool

Umihara threads tend to work better in the afternoon from what I've seen.

Last thread I made it even earlier and got a pretty good sum so assumed most the posters were Euros

Would you try my fan level and tell me what you think, what could be improved, and whether or not you think its suitable for a third level?

That's a nice sea belly, desu ne

YUMI IS NOT FOR SEXUALLLLLLLL

I'm not at my house computer right now so I can't help you there. Sorry about that.

It really is.
There is nothing wrong with admiring a girl as cute as her.

The level is fine for field 3 actually even a bit too easy. The conveyor belt lack animation but you probably already know it.
The backpack protected by the catfish is nice, but it's possible to make the catfish jump into the water by itself if you simply stand here and wait. The other catfish is not of a problem either and you can catch it before it attack if you're not slow, but since it's field 3 it's alright.

>buy all 3 games during that panic when they were getting pulled from steam
>have fun playing them
>realize that the series is dead and that no other game will ever let me experience bungee cord simulations ever again

I guess I'll have fun playing some generic FPS or RPG, I guess.

i thought that was hilarious, if a new player goes up the ladder he sees a catfish and cowers on the ladder to see what he does. He sees him shoot objects that ring around the platform and then finally after waiting so long the catfish jumps exactly on top of the ladder. i want the player to be able to exploit the enemy for a free backpack so that isnt a problem, i also wanted newer players to have to seek an alternate route if the ladder was blocked. you can also go up the ladder and immediately capture him. i will probably change the escalator to face the other direction to pull the player back so the catfish jumping would be an actual threat, and that would double to fix the animation as well since i can get that work

Yeah that is actually good. Since it's an early field and it's probably the first time you will encounter a catfish (even if you played the original since it's an unused enemy) having it easy to dodge is alright. I never noticed the first time playing but you're right if you go from under with the ladder and wait too much you're trapped and can't get up, that's pretty nice.

making video one second

im going to work on that big gap, its not easy to get up or around if the fish does block the ladder. also just noticed a shading error

spoiler alert

Thank you so much for dumping the manuals, it's nice that they try to explain the whole swinging business.

Vid is triggering me. I want to like the series but damn I suck at this game. I can't get far at all.

>playing the game 4:3 when the devs themselves defaulted the game 8:7 on steam
Chubby chasers BTFO

ANYTHING FOR THAT SMILE

It grows on you once you learn movement. I will also try and make a video someday for movement and learn a thing or two myself in the process

Bottom section of this has no collision or whatever.

But thanks for reminding me I am out of practice on snes umihara.
