Why is it Crystal?

because it's the one I played when I was 10

I tried to buy soul silver or heart gold online and it was going for 100 bucks. Shit is ridiculous

It unironically is crystal though

Because it introduced all of the most important mechanics to the franchise, such as the revamped EV/IV system, natures, Abilities, held items beyond berries and leftovers, and the first generation of worthwhile Pokemon since the original 151.

Oh wait, that wasn't Gold.

It's got to be Ruby because that's my favourite and I'm never wrong.

Crystal. Was in 5th grade when R/B released and recess that year was a magical time. Gotta be objective, though.

Because it had trains.

did it include the pokewalker?

That's not Emerald.

I never played Crystal. What were some of the cool exclusive things in it?

Either one of these, or emerald, gold and silver felt like a disapointing pokemon with the only selling factor being "well, here's MORE pokemon"
Atleast RSE contributed something to the mechanics.
2 bikes.
2!

>not heart gold

Movement animations were introduced for the sprites as well as introducing the ability to choose what sex you are.

Catch all legendaries, animated sprites, could you go to Kanto in Silver and Gold?

The best Pokemon game is Sky

Wtf are you talking about? They introduced so many game mechanics in Gold and Silver like breeding and night and day conditions. Also introduced a couple extra types of Pokemon. The GBA releases were a far greater disappointment.

You mean this? It reads "Pokemon Platinum Version" not Gold, OP.

>not HG

Yeah dude. That was one of my favorite things about the game. You had the opportunity to catch the legendary Pokemon and collect the badges from Kanto.

this. I was 15 when emerald came out and I've played every pokemon game and none of the others come close.

what were the main differences between gold an silver

gold is number one and silver is number two

Night and day was cool, i'll give you that one, but extra types were stupid as fuck.

Gen III is the best, but I think we can all agree shit Pokemon jumped the shark after Gen IV

this

Will i get the same amount for my soul silver as i would get for heartgold?

best games are the versions I picked

Blue
Gold
Sapphire
Leaf Green
Diamond
Heartgold
Black
Black 2
X
Alpha Sapphire

Most of my friends liked B&W, I couldn't get into it. Recently tried X, same thing.

To be fair psychic-type was OP in Gen 1

>dark being added to fix psychic type being broken
>stupid as fuck

If your heart is made of gold, I think you could get a lot.

sorry for my memeanswer

i'd say yes, the only difference is just certain mons only spawn in gold and some only spawn in silver, like growlithe and vulpix, or ledbya and spinark..

Also, Ho oH is level 50 on gold and lugia is level 70 and it's backwards on the silver versuon

Plz lets not start calling balance changes features.

I played Red, but... Yeah pretty much.

Old school is best school.

>moving the goalpost

> It's a " Let's make new pokemon but only allow you to catch them after you complete the game and even then you're forced to train it 40 levels before it's usable against the current trainers" game

buuuuUHH
what was the point of making a new type only to fucking hide it away on the postgame areas?

The game wasn't any different for it, any modern game would have that as a free patch.

How about we play a little game.
Since everyone is stating what game they think is best. Let's rate our generations from most favorite to least favorite. I'll start.

2 > 1 > 3 > 4 > 6 > 5

black and white were great, x&y are the only ones that were actually disappointing. it suddenly felt like a barney and friends game.

better question, what makes a pokemon remake better than its original counterpart?

what makes it worse?

best pokemon is in it

5>3>2>1>4>6

You're only allowed to say that if you've beaten the hardest dungeon. Have you?

gross

4>5=2>6>1>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I remember when I bought this in store

so if for some stupid reason we concede that adding new pokemon, moves, and types aren't gameplay features (which they are)
that still leaves
>night and day
>breeding
>hold items
>completely redone inventory system
>a new goddamn stat for christ's sake
>ball crafting
>S H I N I E S

I am currently doing a dunsparce solo run in Gold version.
It's actually quite op.
It's a little tough at the start because of the experience slope but accelerates like fucking crazy near the middle.
Dunsparce also has great defense and insane HP.
It's a lot easier than the joey challenge, that's for sure.
Also, just look at that face, dunsparce is fucking adorable.

It's funny how every so often nintendo tries to trick people into being physically active.
>Pocket pikachu
>Nintendo wii
>Poke-walker
>Pokemon GO...

i can't find my hg ss or the poke walkers. my parents moved while I was at school and I worry that they lost them somewhere.
i was actually so upset that I don't play pokemon anymore

>Pokemon GO
>Nintendo

Elaborate

It's as much of a Nintendo joint as any other game. Nintendo is still the majority stakeholder in TPC.

nah ur fukin dumb bro

Niantic may have a larger share than nintendo but they still do shit for them

Vastly inferior sprites to Silver.

Can't read the rest of the thread or I'll get triggered by /go/ autism.

Why would you think that when HGSS are objectively better?

nintendo owns part pokemon co which licenses pokemon to ninantic. that's pretty far removed.

I'm not the only one who thinks this??
Aaaaa, user you are a pretty cool guy.
I always thought the pidgeotto sprite was a lot cooler in silver, it really stood out.

The best Pokemon game is I actually love all of them equally, albeit for different reasons

sceptile a best

even 6? I'll still get sun and moon, but I disliked six so much I didn't even finish the game

Yeah, I had plenty of fun with X and Y. Postgame was abysmal though. X was fun for me because its easy to grind out a lot of playthroughs. I'd transfer hatched Pokemon over and just play, pic related. I appreciate it for being a more laid back Pokemon experience. I do hope Sun & Moon is better though.

But what was the first game with online?

>better question, what makes a pokemon remake better than its original counterpart?

Better graphics and added content

my nigga

youtube.com/watch?v=wy9VvdaLuSs
A good remake adds things but doesn't remove good content

there were move boosting held items in gold, user
just saying

the other points are fair though
Hoenn was a shit region too

>implying its not this masterpiece

THAT WAS BRUTAL

Finding a good copy of HG/SS is around $100 on ebay. They don't have it at the gamestops here.

colosseum is where it was at

>best pokemon game
>not snakewood
Nice maymay

>tfw lost my Colosseum and XD games and want to play them again, but they are expensive as fuck now

Do what i did and install Nintendont on your Wii. It's good enough.

They are all the same game.

FireRed is best though. Updated graphics and original 151.

>XD
>>>/reddit/

But having only the first pokemon is the exact opposite of a selling point

Any of these are the correct answer

gen 3 was the worst

by platinum, you mean light platinum, right user?

I couldn't go to Kanto.
I want to play it again just to go there, just to finish the fucking game.

Totodile best

these are fake right

I wanted to play on flashcart or 3ds gba inject, but the real time clock doesn't work with either of those, and I'm not about to pay $100 for the new everdrive gba just to play pokemon

>its evolution totally ruins it

Soul Silver, Heart Gold you mean. The originals were good, but the remakes add so much more content.

except hidden bases were awesome

Emulate it, are you five years old?

I mean they're kind of neat but it's not like you'd actually have more than about 3 or so in the region, because you have to do that record mixing bullshit. That and most of the layouts were very small

>all those bootleg cartridges in that pic

I actually enjoyed XD _XD_

Anything overseas is fake.

Its actually Crystal but your close.

why? emerald was my favorite game.

>hoenn is filled with zigzgoons and wingull everywhere
>and water
>the music gets grating fast
>the worst elite 4 and champion

Name one person that actually likes Wallace.

>cant get mareep in it

nah man

when I was 5 I realized emulators were garbage

let me guess, you save state during gym battles?

>XD
kys

Great taste user

All of the pokemon after the 1st and some of the 2nd gen are gay though.

No I play the new one because I'm not an autist.

If emulators suck why do you want to emulate on 3DS

You can't just write most of the pokemon off just because you dont like a few designs. Each of the gens has good and bad pokemon
