What's your favourite Shinji Mikami directed game? Mine's Resi4 though I love Vanquish too. Currently on my first playthrough of God Hand (Stage 4 atm).

No love for Mikami?
Is The Evil Within worth 10 dollars? I've heard a lot of mixed responses.
For 10, eh, I guess. Game design wise it's kinda all over the place, combining elements from many of his previous games without really considering how they work together. The game is all in a dream with you jumping from scene to scene. It doesn't really feel like your character is getting any closer to the end game the entire time. There are several instakill enemies in the game also but they don't feel as fair the same way some enemies in Re4 do. I stopped playing halfway through the game when I needed to go on a key hunt through a mansion only to be instakilled at the very end by an enemy that can appear randomly costing me maybe a half an hour to hour of progress.
There's nothing really wrong with TEW. People just shit on it because they thought it was going to be REmake 1.5 instead of RE4.5. It's probably the best action horror since Dead Space 2.
God Hand, no contest.
>It's probably the ONLY action horror since Dead Space 2.
Fixed that for you.
RE5, RE6, Resident evil REV also came out before TEW.
Vanquish, the GOAT TPS
Evil Withing is actually one of mine favourite games.
Dude resident evil revelations series
>Resident Evil Relaitons
Okay, I'll give you this one. The other two aren't worth much though.
2 is garbage.
Dino Crisis 2
The first installment was good but I don't think the horror theme meshed well with dinosaurs.
The path planning in Dino Crisis 1 was great though. Having to count your bullets and tranquilizer, decide which paths you to take, which security systems you switched off or on, how much medicine you are willing to take out of the boxes, that was true survival horror.
Why in the fuck did it need an upgrade system? Holy shit.
And no mercenaries mode? This game is built for that!
I know Vanquish is fast paced. But isn't the real reason it's a good game is the fancy bullet time?
REmake is my favorite but I also liked the TEW. Mainly because I just played it like RE4 and didn't even try the stealth stuff.
Right now? Vanquish.
Usually it's RE Remake or RE4 but I've been in an action mood lately and've been playing Vanquish.
Mikami didn't direct DC2
I feel the same way, DC1 had some good ideas, but dinosaurs work better in action games. DC2 was one of my favorite games.
Out of the games Mikami directed though, I'd go with REmake
The Evil Within with Vanquish and RE4 tied
I beat it twice and started another playthrough on Akumu. I enjoyed it. Def worth 10. It is pretty all of over the place but I liked it
Should I buy Vanquish right now?
Not really
Do you have a gaming PC? It's probably coming within the next 3-4 months.
It autosaves after each of the brain experiment puzzle things, how could you lose so much progress? I'm actually at that level right now, I did two of the brain things. The "keys" (I'll assume you're talking about the dials) reset upon death but they're so close to each other and near the start of the level I can't see how you lost so much progress. You can also manually save at any time by going back to the hospital since the entrance to it is right at the start of the level.
I actually appreciate the semi rng horror, I think it's the only part of the game thus far that was actually scary for me. The points at which it is triggered are not rng from what I can tell, and when you survive it that particular trigger will not happen again even if you die. It will only happen again if you quit out of the game.
You should but you could also hold off on it and see if that PC port turns out to be true. Shouldn't be too much if you decide to get it on console either way.
No way my laptop could run it.
Then yeah. It's a great game.
Questionable.
Its just not a good game, its based around archaic mechanics and cheap insta death arcade game design.
But even ignoring that it feels unfinished and low budget, some systems like the upgrades make no sense and dont work while others like the traps that you cant see due to black bars are clearly a result of last minute black bar addition to improve performance while not fixing their placent in levels. Story is fuck ass retarded and ends on ridiculous cliffhanger somewhat explained in the dlc but still aimed at sequel baiting that will never come.
I would say skip it, value your time and just play a better game.
