I agree with this notion.
As with everyone else. Only a fool would think otherwise.
Cuck
I like Halo 4 more than the average fan.
>Muh anyone who disagrees with me is a fool
kys
I found it boring, there were no tactics for taking out enemies. You just shot them until they died.
At least with elites you could plasma their shields and 1 tap them.
...
>abbreviating kill yourself
>Using white text memes
Correction, 343 Halo is bad.
It's a shame because some of the stuff the promethians have is legitimately interesting:
Watchers throwing grenades back at you and reviving knights is neat, and contrary to what you said, does require tactics.
Knights themselves were just giant bullet sponges, but the teleoporting stuff they do had potential to be interesting and the teleport zig zag sword slash they do rarely is super cool and hard to deal with if you don't see it coming.
At the end of the day, 4's campaign is still better then CE's. CE's is so fucking tedious and reuses so much shit it fucking astonishes me that people say it has the best campaign in the series. It was amazing for 2001 but holy fuckballs it does not stand up to any of the other campaigns in the series.
But Halo 5's MP is fantastic
no it isn't
You can thank Goldeneye for popularizing shit mechanics
still, 1-3 are objectively good games
But if I can't jerk off to my Halo 3 cumrags then what is my life?
Why stop at 3? If you are going to talk about "objectively". then ODST, Reach, and even 4 and especially 5 should be mentioned as well because the shit halo fans whine about with them are subjective.
Halo 3 was never the best though. Halo 2 had both a better SP (though 2's SP also has more low points in addition to more high points) and better MP, and CE's MP is better.
The only thing 3 has over 2 is the modualrity: It has forge and more gametype options.
>Why stop at 3?
Because ODST was DLC that came in a case
Because Reach changed the core mechanics of the game and it flopped in hilarious fashion
Because 4 did the same thing as Reach and flopped just as hard
Because 5 isn't Halo anymore.
>Halo 2 campaign better than any Halo in the trilogy
Stop, Halo 2 arguably had the worst campaign in the trilogy
>half levels
>bullet sponge Brutes
>broken Flood
>linear levels
>shortest campaign if played on any difficulty other than Legendary
>Drones
>garbage boss fights
>Arbiter's missions sucked
>enemy programming a step down from CE
>Jackal snipers
>duel wielding made some weapons weak
>false advertisement
>cliff hanger ending
>scripted
>trying to make us care for a bunch of aliens that we slaughtered in CE
Halo 5s MP feels more like Halo than 4 and Reach.
Well that's not saying much, just like their population charts.
GTA 4 had more online players than Reach only a year after it was released, and that was a game from 08.
...
>>Because Reach changed the core mechanics of the game
Not anymore then 2 or 3 did.
I was going to reply to this point by point but
>trying to make us care for a bunch of aliens that we slaughtered in CE
You aren't even worth it.
Don't, your words are worthless anyway. Halo CE we got a bunch aliens that are out to kill humanity and take over the galaxy. In Halo 2 Bungie added some political bullshit and made them speak english but all that did was make them feel less alien and it didn't change the fact that they still wanted to wipe out humanity and take over the galaxy. The that you probably started with Halo 2 anyway means your words are already shit.
*The fact that
>Not anymore then 2 or 3 did.
Find me a single change within the original trilogy that even approaches the levels of loadouts, armor abilities, or kill streaks.
Whoa, someone who agrees with me that 2 is better. 3 was such a colossal disappointment in everything but custom games, though even then I had more fun with infection in H2 when you had to use the trust system to ensure people changed teams.
Read this and thisNow both of you go have sex and fuck off.
Agree with just about everything in that except Reach was complete dogshit story wise.
All I see is pointless bitching about points that someone who couldn't actually give a shit about the series would vomit. Try playing the games, reading the books / EU works, then come back and make a comment. Till then I'll ignore your worthless comments like I did initially.
I never understood the love Reach gets, I hated everything about it.
Despised it since launch, and the ridiculous amounts of praise it's been getting disgusts me. Tried to go back and play it a few weeks ago and fuck, still terrible. Campaign was flat and caused unnecessary problems lore wise, and MP was an abortion. Only enjoyable part of it was BTB Heavies, solely because the playlist was populated primarily by retards so getting 50~60 kills a game wasn't too difficult.
If you'd actually read the EU you'd know that it only makes the vidya experience all the more frustrating.
It's also hilarious that they waited until we were at the Kilo 5 trilogy of books to start making direct references to the novels in the games. Talk about working with a shit script, kek.
Protip to any anons who actually are interested in the Halo EU:
>karen traviss' work is known as the travissties for a reason
>you can skip The Flood
>forerunner trilogy is meh
Look I started out with CE, as far as I'm concerned Bungie have always been hacks. The main reason Halos 1-3 mp were good because Bungie always ran out of time. I also don't understand why you are shilling the books to me when I already read all of that shit. If they really wanted another character it's called DLC, or spin off, not fucking up the level balance for 2 character, the fact that 343 did the same shit in Halo 5 disgust me even further since they didn't learn shit from Bungie's mistakes.
But it can be a good game if you mod it enough.
64 player servers will never happen again.
Reading the EU has only given me a hatred for everything Bungie has ever done, and a respect for 343 up until SpOps / Escalation ended worthlessly and Halo 5 shit the bed in its entirety. Now I just want it to die.
Me too, I can play Halos 1-5 yes even 343's Halos and be fine in campaign for both and mp for Halo 5 but there is just something about Reach that I just hate.
In other news, water is wet.
Sad 2006-2010 people who grew in the golden age of PC gaming are long gone and now Gen Z braindead kids who post here think that Halo series is good.
>there will never be a halo title which follows the actual plot of TFoR
>2006-2010 people who grew in the golden age of PC gaming
...
That still hurts, I remember when I saw the teaser for Reach at E3 2009 I was so excited and then VGA 2009 happened.
Protip: When goldeneye was popular, being able to afford a PC to run Quake 2 and play online was fucking expensive. When Halo appeared there was far better FPS games like UT and Q3. Also computers were getting cheaper and popular, internet was becoming massive and the genre was at his peak. Trying to compare it to Goldeneye only show how much of a retard you are.
people who posted here at that time were the ones who were born from the early 80's to the mid 90's. Those people enjoyed gen 3,4,5 and 6. Of course they have far better taste and experience than the fuckers who grew up with COD 4, Halo and console FPS gaming in general you stupid fuck.
what's it like using the internet with arthritis grandpa?
Depends on which Halo you talk about.
I never really played Halo CE or 2 that much, so I won't comment on those. (Plus you'll get more than enough circlejerking about those games from everyone else anyways.)
Halo 3 was nice. Not terribly good or terribly bad, it was just nice. To be perfectly honest I think the campaign is a wee bit short, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna forget levels like The Covenant, Crow's Nest, Cortana, or Halo any time soon. Multiplayer was okay, though in hindsight I do wish equipment was more common.
ODST was a cool campaign, but I never played online firefight. Locally, firefight was cool, though I didn't spend much time on it.
Reach I was initially disappointed with in regards to armour customization (the style felt...ugly, I think?), but in retrospect it's a cool game. Multiplayer was nice but I really wish the ayylien playermodels weren't limited to custom matches.
If Halo 3 was quick, Halo 4 was even quicker. I didn't feel affected by Cortana's death, though I certainly did feel the emotional buildup to the moment as Cortana progressively got worse. The multiplayer felt limited, and the removal of the ayyliens pissed me off.
Haven't played 5/"Guardians" yet as I've stuck more to PC gaming as of late, probably won't play it either.
Halo 4 is a bad game.
Cortana is actually too sexy in contrast with the rest of the militaristic science fiction going on in the plot. How am I supposed to take anything from Halo 4 when this is in every cutscene?
I know it's an unpopular opinion, but a character can be too attractive, It's possible and this is very exemplary of that idea.
the teaser trailer gave me so much hope that I'd get to jump out of a burning pelican and fall thousands of meters to the ground without a parachute
plebian, swerve
They had an incredible frame to work with, how did they fuck it up so bad?
...
I would say $$$, but I can't find a single aspect of the novel's plot that isn't infinitely better in all aspects.
Maybe Bungie really did hate Halo?
>4's Campaign better than CE
I actually finished Halo 2 today on PC and I was surprised by how good it was, not wow but its definitely a good game. Would be a lot better if I didnt had to deal with the constant FPS drop.
Shame there's no Halo 3+ for PC.
I mean, from later interviews it seems they fucking despised the EU, which is sad because the EU had, undoubtedly, infinitely superior stories to the games.
>replaying Halo CE on Legendary in the MCC
>dying left andf right
I honestly dont remember how I did this in middle school.
In terms of campaign difficulty, CE is on the lower end.
Plasma pistol is idiotically overpowered, and can not only be used in combination with precision weapons, but as a stunlock. It's hilarious, and one of 3 weapons you need to complete the game.
it hurts knowing we finally meet fellow SIIs in 5 and not motherfucking Reach
blunder of the century
No it really isn't, it's the same casualised COD shit as Halo 4.
I know CE plasma pistol is godlike but when i land a cahrge on elites by the time i swotch to pistol they're out of stun
Halo comes equipped with a lot of gameplay shortcuts and nuances that make the experience easier. If you aren't aware, most everything dies with a single weapon combination or two.
They always seemed ass blasted when MA got involved with the franchise (novels, comics, Ensemble Studios). Plus without the heads of Bungie to get involved the creative art director Macus Lehto became the project lead for Reach (big mistake) and decided to fuck over the game's story. When you played Reach you could tell something was off from both gameplay and story, he is the reason.
If reusing assets really bugs you, you must be such a boring person
>Said the person who hasn't played it.
MOONBITCH
*MS
You don't need to switch close up. Overcharge, melee to skip the animation, rapid fire plasma pistol to death.
Only need Rockets / Grenades for the trigger moments, Pistol to deal with hunters, shotgun to deal with flood.
Why would I buy that steaming pile of shit? I'm not funding 343 again, ever. The beta was trash and a perfect example of everything that's wrong with Halo. Rather than emulate the literal perfection of Halo 3's gameplay mechanics they strip everything down to its bare minimum, it's not even an FPS anymore, just a cutscene simulator.
I haven't seen this much aim assist/ bullet magnetism since Halo 2.
>Halo 3
>Anything but literal trash encapsulated in a CD
Holy shit do the planet a favor and kill yourself.
Which halo ?
Halo 1 , 3 and ODST were good and reach is debatable
>calling Halo 3 trash
Not him but kill yourself. Also I like Halo 5 mp just in case you try to bring it up.
Take your own advice faggot.
>RNG Battle Rifle
>Series' shittiest balance
>Movement is like walking through molasses at all times
Honestly not a single redeeming quality in Halo 3. Halo 2 did it all better, by miles.
It's nothing like cod at all though. It's Halo with more abilities. And not the shitty load out kind like reach, everybody has the same shit. It's fundamentally an arena shooter.
>inb4 iron sights
Cosmetic only to fool retards, doesn't slow you down and last I checked you don't get descoped when you're aiming in call of duty or halo 4
Halo forge mode was my life in the good 'ol days. Halo 3 forge was amazing. Other than that I really only liked Halo for the lore/story.
>it's halo
>with more abilities
>it's fundamentally an arena shooter
It's Halo, except instead of a metallic boulder moving at the pace of a salted slug you're an actual Spartan.
It is Halo. The base gameplay is the same plus more. You can't make the same game over and over. You have to try new shit especially after 15 years. They made Master Chief collection specifically so you can play the old ones online anytime. Halo 1 and 2 PC still have players. Lots of options for classic Halo gameplay.
Do you know what an arena shooter is m8? Even playing field focused on map control, power weapons, and pickups. Halo 5 is an arena shooter.
Halo 3's sp shitted on Halo 2's
I like your thread OP, here's a free steam key: NXXGF-5YQZA-TT6MN
if any of you fags redeem it - say in the thread what it was
>linear levels
lol, and Halo 3's weren't?
Compared to Halo 2's Halo 3's campaign had some large sandbox gameplay in them.
Honestly yeah, the forge is amazing too.

Shame about no splitscreen so the best part of the game are utterly worthless once the servers go down :^)
>Shame about no splitscreen so the best part of the game are utterly worthless once the servers go down :^)
I know this is b8 but i can't see that happening in less than 10 years. Also everyone seems to forget the fact that Reach turns into a slideshow when playing 4 player splitscreen on Forge maps.
its not bait, and obviously wont happen for a while, but its an inevitability.
Bionic Commando Rearmed
I already own it though
>Every seems to forget that Reach turns into a slideshow
It drops frames out the ass for sure, but even as someone that hates playing games at less than 60 fps on my PC, I loved every second of that stuttery arena shooter with four friends in one room
What fucking bold-faced lie is this?
Halo 5 feels fucking nothing like halo
>Abilities
>Guns
>Movement
>Vehicles
>Enemies
It's all so un-halo like it's made the game unplayable for me
If you got rid of:
>bullet sponges Brutes
>broken Flood
You could literally replace Halo 2 with 5 instead.
343 era is bad, that everyone an agree on. 5 is good but it isn't really a halo game anymore, they should have just made their own IP if they couldn't stay true to halo
This.
Bungie did the Halo series great (for a while, for some), but then 343 kinda muddled it up. They had to change the formula, that much is understandable. But, the sprint functionality and the usage of "kill streaks" in 4 kinda showed which direction they were going for. 5 makes me the most angry though, considering which mode they put the most effort into developing.
This is like the antithesis of Doom.
Doom = shitty MP/great SP
Halo 5: Guardians = great MP/shitty SP
...
Halo is done. It had its time in the limelight, we all remember the good old days, but it's a thing of the past and we have to let it go. It'll never be the same.
I don't want to let go something I'm having a good time with. Only trendfags care if their game is at the top of the population charts. And with how often Halo 3 is praised, there is no shortage of trendfags who hopped onto the 360 from the PS2.
It literally is, they had 2 good Halo single players to look at Halo CE and Halo 3. Why the hell would build off the worst campaign in the original trilogy, why dammit why?
This. Halo 2 had a shitty single player, probably because it was rushed in like 6 months. I can't understand why you'd choose random fucking open spaces and the occasional corridor over actually well designed interiors in CE and well made large outdoor areas in 3
>large outdoor areas in 3
There were like 4 of those.
Halo was always about the multiplayer, stay mad campaigncuck
And all of them were better than anything out of Halo 2's campaign.
That's not my point. They were clearly much smaller and shorter than Halo 2's levels.
They weren't done like halo 3s. The long vehicle segments and huge battle spaces in 3 were good. In 5 we got a normal shooting area, then some crampt linear vehicle arena and repeat
I get what you're saying but to me it's Halo evolved. It's faster and more intense, it's more complex, but it's an arena shooter again and guns/grenades/melee is still the core of the combat. When I'm in a fight with someone it feels like I'm playing Halo with a few snazzy new features. You just have to get used to them.
And really the game did have to evolve again. A Halo 3 clone would have dropped off even harder regardless of how many die-hard Halo fans think otherwise. That was the whole point of the Master Chief collection.
Some days I feel like playing MCC and some days It wel like playing Halo 5. But it always feels like Halo to me.
Fuck Halo 4 though. Literally Halo: Chasing COD edition.
