I alread knew this since I tried a while back.

It pisses me off actually. All those hours put as a kid, and I have nothing to show now lol, I had all 151 in Red, entire team was level 100, only my Yellow save survived and I varely played Yellow, I only have like 50 pokemons there ffs.

I forgot to ask: Is there any way to recover the damaged save?

I'll give you a bump. Good luck.

>tfw you check your Pokemon Yellow, Red, and Blue catridges and all of your saves and Pokemon are still intact from almost 15 years ago

Feels good nigga

Nope. Shit's gone niggah

>So with this Pokemon Go craze
Ded gaem m8.

>tfw gave my old boy to my nephew
>little cunts play it all fucking day everyday
>they move away
>see them a few years later
>bit of them are playing that new handheld with 2 screens
>mixing potions for their pokes

I dont know when it all changed but after playing and hating GO I reload my emu and started an emerald playthrough on my phone

Step 1 - open up the game cartridge
Step 2 - Remove battery
Step 3 - Put in new battery
Step 4 - Close game cartridge

There now you can save again op.
With enough determination you can even get the case open without a star shaped screw driver (when I was young I did this multiple times with just the nail filer that is a attached to most fingernail clippers). Just don't damage the screw too much.

GEN III BEST GEN.

>tfw I stopped playing after Pokemon Emerald and the Fire Red and Leaf Green reboots

Maybe it's because I didn't get a DS or whatever the new Gameboy was called, but the game just seemed to fall off after those ones. Also I was going into high school at the time, so I was pretty much turning to consoles and PC more than handhelds.

>be 8
>give my female cousins my gameboy color and pokemon red because I "upgraded" to pokemon silver and a GBA
>two days later hang out with them and find it thrown in a toybox with all their shitty toys
>they didnt even play it

girls a shit

>With enough determination you can even get the case open without a star shaped screw driver

It's only a dollar from China man.

>www youtube com/watch?v=AlsPMWMtg30

A dollar save is a dollar best spent on pre-ordering Skyrim HD!

apparently this shit happens to the GBA games too

im too scared to check now if I can even find them

Oy vey, goyim! If you buy the Virtual Console release of your favorite Gameboy Advance games, you'll never have that problem again!

and then when the new console comes out you can buy it again!

>pokemon go craze has people paying almost $200 for heart gold version

Now you're getting it!

Wait, what?

Apparently HGSS has some major cocksuckers and I don't know why.

It was fine enough but it wasn't amazing or anything.

B2/W2 has the same problem, but I haven't actually played that so I can't comment.

Fuck that shit dude. I had 151 pokes, my team was all 100, mewto, mew, charizard, blastoise, zapdos, gyarados.. i think

i had like 50 wins 0 losses from gamelink matches

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhHHHHHHHHHHH

and my silver save is not even present, it only says "new game" and "options", i had almost 252 pokes there

If I had to guess, it'd be for the pokewalker or whatever it was called

I know that you can replace the battery to save again, what I want to is to recover my save game which says its destroyed :(

Fucking why? It's a glorified pedometer for fuck's sake.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlsPMWMtg30

this is the shit that is happening..

what is the explanation? I understand that i couldnt save if the battery is drained, but why would the actual file be destroyed? cmon

the series peaked at G/S prove me wrong

Which is literally what Pokemon Go is.
The only difference is that the pokewalker actually had a game attached to it and didn't expect you to throw money at it.

...

Well, I'm looking at eBay now and it seems just the games themselves (no walker) are going for $100+

I wish I had the insight for this kinda shit. I'd be making so much money from idiots.

>All those hours put as a kid, and I have nothing to show now lol

Every game ever

Gen 2 didn't have secret bases or the weather trio.

It also didn't have super/hyper training.

Also XY berries were rad.

The chip holding the save data is volatile memory and needs to be on constantly, once the battery is drained it's gone forever.

Basically like the RAM in your computer.

please someone help

tell me i can recover the file

Meh. There's literally no reason to play the old games when better versions of them exist anyway.

No, you're fucked. Go play FireRed

its cooler to see a save gamefrom 20 years ago

>firered
are you 18

Tempted to sell mine but I don't feel like shipping it out. Saw someone asking 80 bucks for theirs and thought he was crazy and then someone bought it instantly.

If you ignore the story, B2/W2 is basically a better version of B/W, which on their own are very good games.

In the sequel(s), you can fight literally every gym leader from the previous generations. It was rad as fuck.

You can fight all gen 1-5 leaders in b2/w2?

What?

just look at ebay, user. people are paying almost $100 for the cart alone

Yep. Check it out on JewTube if you doubt me.

What can I get for a complete in box heart gold with the pokewalker? Kind of want to sell It to buy more games. Not like I touched it since I beat it. Had the worst endgame and zero difficulty of almost any pokemon.

>yellow and blue can still save
>crystal and gold battery dead
why is this allowed

I'm enjoying Pokemon Go as the shitty AR game/phenomenon it is, but I've dusted off my old cartridges and had my batteries replaced just so I can remember that Pokemon isn't about catching and releasing a billion Pidgeys to increase an eventually arbitrary number and mindlessly tapping for """"battles""""

That clock feature really drains the battery.

youtube.com/watch?v=teyDswYA_Kk

I know your feel, op.

I tried starting my old gold cartridge, and my save is gone.

I wanted to kown how many hundreds or hours i have sinked on it. I had only one lvl 100 though.

My GBA screen seen to be disgluing too, dunnow why or how

huh, cool

I kind of hope we get around to re-remakes in a few years. I'd like full 3D brock and misty

The save remaining in the cartridges memory is reliant on the battery still having power.

No power, memory gets wiped.

Same thing with RAM Drives for computers, if the computer powers off, anything you've installed to them for quick access gets wiped.

How about you try researching some eBay prices, dingus.

only way to back up your saves is with gameshark. gameshark lets u make a save state on games.

I do that for my pokemon gold. Sister threw it in the pool (with my gbc) back in 2000 and it killed the battery. gameboy still works but the game can only be played now with gameshark.

guy on ebay is an electrical engineer that offers battery cart replacements and repair for like 6 bucks. I need to look him up.

Considering the current devs all seem like genwunners, I'm sure it'll happen.

No one will like the NPC redesigns though. People were flipping their shit with the HGSS ones, no doubt they'll cry more if they get updated again.

You can replace the battery yourself for even cheaper. It's a really simple process.

>A vocal minority of dweebs will not like the NPC redesigns though

Fixd

The price was high even before Pokemon go.

I sold mine without the pokewalker for 70€

I'm not a gen wunner (I prefer gen 3 for most things) but there's a certain nostalgia for the originals.

I'm mostly happy with what they've done, though I was kind of upset with Sabrina's re-design, partially because that's probably where my sub complex came from.

How are you old enough to own Red/Blue/Yellow and not know that most games used batteries for the saves?

I had no idea.
How much is that in real money?

>How are you old enough to own Red/Blue/Yellow and not know that most games used batteries for the saves?

Not everyone knows the technical aspects of these older games. I assure you the majority of people, even nerds, would be surprised to boot up their old battery powered save games and see that their gone.

Guy is probably just some kid claiming to be an electrical engineer. I can't see why a real EE would bother with fixing people's shit that they have to ship back and forth between each other for six dollars. It takes less than a minute to replace the battery if you have the new battery and the right screwdriver already.

>not coming to terms with the fact that nothing lives forever

abuot $77 apparently

Euro is generally a lot closer to the dollar than the pound

...

>lost my copies of Red, Gold, and Crystal
>still have my copy of Yellow

>never played it as a kid because I was more into Red, Gold, and Crystal

pottery

It probably lasted more cause you played it less. I supposed that loading and writing saves must need more energy than simply keeping them

Can you teach Pikachu "Surf" in the Virtual Console version of Pokemon Yellow?

But yellow was better than red in every way.

No I literally lost my copies of the other games, I don't know where they are or what I did with them.

I think you can only get a surfing pikachu by event only or transfering one from Pokeyman Stadium

How so? So far it just seems a little bit different and I can get all 3 elemental starters including pikachu, big whoop

CMON MAN

what is the explaination for this ? why destroyed?

we want to recover the save game not replace the fucking battery

Series peaked on DS

oh I get it, you have to replace battery before it goes offf or save is lost forever

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUAAAACK

who the fuck knows anything beyond gold and silver unless young or autistic

You also need to solder the new battery in. And in doing so you'll wipe any existing save you have

Do you actually believe your save file is a literal physical object? Kill yourself

im 27 tomorrow

I think the autist here is you, my man lusting friend

The clock feature drained the battery. RSE has a battery for the clock, but the normal save is on the cart. It will last as long as the game data itself as flash memory

>be kid
>pokemon blue
>up to cinnabar island
>accidentally drop gameboy on cement stairs
>gameboy speaker fucked up and barely plays sound
>pokemon blue data destroyed and won't hold a save for more than a few minutes
Made me feel extra shitty because the gameboy and the game where hand me downs from my older brother

stfu nerd

This can't be true. Gameboys were made of Nintendium.

This, gameboys literally survived suicide bomb attacks

It was like that for years, I recall a couple months back it was at like $140 for a new copy and like $80 for a shitty used one without the Pokewalker.
HG/SS are really expensive for no reason at all.

blame scalpers and fake nerds

I managed to get all 151 in Red too, granted the Mew was gamesharked.

Kind of curious if my saves in Red and Yellow have held up. Blue is probably a lost cost because close to a decade a go I couldn't even go into Surge's gym without the game just stopping.

As far as the mechanics and gameplay go, the new games are simply better.

It's so annoying that the older games, which by no means should be rare, go for stupid amounts of money. I just need Pearl, Platinum, and SilverSoul to complete my collection of the mainline games, but I wouldn't be surprised if would end up costing me $200+.

I literally just sold my red and silver cart for $80 each on ebay thanks to the pokemon craze

People are fucking lunatics to pay that much for an old cart.

>As far as the mechanics and gameplay go, the new games are simply better.

Pokemon Go is trash tho. Why they didnt make it turn based fights? lol at tapping on the screen

>that new handheld with 2 screens

What the fuck? Why are you even posting here if you don't know what a DS is?

The game isn't aimed at the hardcore fans. It's specifically tailored to casuals and old fans.

It's pointless to even ponder this when Sun/Moon are right around the corner.

Please be satire.

I imagine they have quite a bit of nostalgia behind them since as a kid GS were amazing. Better graphics than RGBY, new Pokemon, two new types, an entire new region, the ability to go back and see how Kanto and characters in it had changed, basically fighting yourself at the end.

They also apparently added some neat features to the game.

I meant the mainline games, Pokemon Go is just a spinoff.

no
but imagine the potential of a game like pokemon go with battles against other trainers in real life and turn based...

Pokemon go isn't a main game. Plus Niantic seems to be an awful dev regardless.

What the shit?

I got my copy of SoulSilver for $30 from a local thrift shop like 3 months ago. Are you shitting me? Are people paying these fucking prices?

>but imagine the potential of a game like pokemon go with battles against other trainers in real life and turn based...
I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic but you literally just described the mainline games

It's worse than that. Unless you're somehow powering the RAM chip while replacing the battery, the save will instantly be deleted when you remove it.

Fools and their money are soon parted.

>no
How, then, do you propose to recover the save?
