Can we all agree that this is the most fucking unfair portion of the game? Pic related isn't me btw. I'm still stuck on it.
Also MGR thread I guess.

Blade Wolf is a casual filter.
Freight elevator is unfair bullshit.
You ain't seen nothin.
I don't see any Grads there so no, it isn't.
What are you having trouble with? Are you playing on hard? How do you even get NO KILLS?
I'm playing on hard. The section doesn't get completely bullshit until the elevator makes it to the top.
Hammer cyborg? No big deal. Can probably kill him without getting hit.
Birds and hammer cyborg? Pretty annoying. The constant missile attacks make it impossible to not get hit but I can still pull myself through.
2. COUNT THEM. 2 MASTIFFS. What the actual fuck. I can barely kill one of them without offensive defense.
Once I figured out offensive defense it got a little more bearable and I started to not get bodied so fast but the fucking mastiffs make it impossible.
God dammit, meant for
you mean the elevator part? that was fucking easy. just activate ripper mode and let 'er rip.
Doesn't last long enough and still doesn't work against mastiffs.
Well you see MGR is one of those games where you don't want to start playing on Hard but if you reached there it's not out of your league I guess. I played on Normal and I remember not having too much problems here.
Usually I saved my ripper mode when the mastiffs showed up. If you're so legitimately scared about mastiffs (I also am) then don't enter random buildings when the time comes.
I've made it a habit to start every game on hard. No way to get better if you don't test yourself.
The thing about mastiffs is that even ripper mode isn't that effective against them since they tank whatever you throw at them. Even in ripper mode they can still grab you and offensive defense doesn't work too well if you're fighting more than one enemy in a cramped space.
>still doesn't work against mastiffs
Welp, wasn't there a lunging move that would break armor allowing to instazandatsu? Also, I played on Normal, but I've never used EMP grenades and saved them up for tricky situations like this.
Also, learn to do perfect parries, they're kinda the ultimate answer to any attack (except when they're yellow), so much that you can only use those in the hardest difficulty.
>mastiffs
This game would be a perfect hack n slash if not for that bullshit enemy. Bladewolf, Meme Man, even Armstrong aren't as bad as those generic magilla gorilla fuckwads.
IN THE MUD AND SINKING DEEPER
Sam's 4th VR mission was the thing I found difficult.
mgr is fucking easy
INTO A PEACEFUL LIFE
AND IT WILL COME
The thing I've learned is that parry doesn't work at all with mastiffs. They have maybe one attack that can be parried but the rest of them with either knock you back or grab you.
Offensive defense is the best way to deal with mastiffs but then again that's really only for one on one encounters. The freight elevator has two of them.
PS4 HAS NO GAMES
Nope, it's definitely still Sundowner's fight in my opinion. First of all, you gotta take care of that fucking gunship so you don't get shot up, then you have to make sure that you don't kill Sundowner too quickly, and then you HAVE to get the zandatsu on the two mooks that spawn in
Jesus christ, just thinking about it makes my veins pop. Don't even get me started on Sam's DLC. And to think, this is probably one of the easiest hack and slash games out there.
>the only way to reliably defeat mastiffs is this broken animation the developers never intended to put in
LIKE A FLOOD OF PAIN, POURING DOWN ON ME
>Kills: 5
>No Kills
Huh?
You playing on PC? Tap in the direction of the enemy with every single attack click. You will always and I mean always parry attacks.
If you cut the humanoid enemies' arms and legs off, they just stealth camo out and it doesn't count as the kill. It's probably counting the mechanical enemies he defeated.
AND IT WILL NOT LET UP UNTIL THE I prefer Red Sun IS HERE
tfw
52/60 achievements
only ones left are the fucking VR missions.
You're kidding right? Mastriffs are one of the easiest enemies. You dodge attacks and hit them hard, You get the tap X prompt and you zandatsu the shit out of them, none of this chopping one arm at a time.
>mfw I got this on my first try
>didn't even know this part was supposed to be hard until you made this thread, op.
That bit with the tank behind the impassable screen was the most horseshit
To this day it makes me upset, why would they do something like that.
I think overall doing a 100% no hit S rank run of MGR on hard/revengence is a mistake, it really soured the game for me. Sorta opened my eyes to baffling designs and hitboxes that made me mad at the end of the playthrough than happy at what i achieved.
RULES OF RED SUN
I bought it for $5 at Toys R Us yesterday, liking what i'm playing so far.
Question to people that had MGR as their first action game.
Have you ever tried DMC or Bayonetta afterwards? What was your experience?
I'm not trying to be condescending, but I wonder if MGR "eased in" some people into harder games, just like having played harder action games before made MGR a joke.
OP here. I finally beat it.
After months of hiatus on this game out of frustration, I finally beat the freight elevator.
I have ascended.
Congrats
Alright
WHEN THE WIND IS SLOW
Keep trying m8, you'll get there eventually. I still haven't even played the 2 DLCs yet. Not looking forward to their VR missions either.
...
AND THEY RUN WHEN RED SUN COMES UP
I remember it being a pain in the ass but not that bad. The Jetstream Sam DLC was too much for me at Blade Wolf. I just had to give up because I wasn't getting any better. Still wanna go back to that at some point.
Yeah, the part that pissed me off most was gorillas that jumped on top of you from off camera.
I'm still disappointed, I tried to beat the game with no healing items, like in all platinum games, but I just couldn't beat Jetstream Sam without some rations
OP pic is me
thanks u
You get no kills by chopping all the limbs off of human enemies instead of hitting them until they die
I played this entire game up to Sam without realizing you could parry
Yellow attacks are grabs and can only be avoided
I've yet to do that section with the turrets inside of the main hall, I don't see how they want you to get an "S" rank on that without a wig.
hahaha what a dumbfuck
Do you at least know about the dodge ability?
There is probably a youtube video of someone doing just that. Look it up.
Got sick of dying there and just bought the fox blade for that single section.
They really don't explain it well
In hindsight the game is piss easy on normal when you parry
LMAO2GRAD
TWO
GRADS
Just looked up what that is, no. I did the whole game up until Sam without parrying or dodging.
>normal
hahahaha stop ya dumb cunt
>I did the whole game up until Sam without parrying or dodging.
That must suck dick. Did you play it again properly?
>perfect parries
I haven't yet, but I probably will eventually.
>He beat Monsoon without parrying
How
i had hecka fun with mgr
beat it on hard and revengeance, but very hard kicked my ass so fucking much
i find your use of 'hecka fun' adorable
that is all
>decided to play very hard after redownloading the game after like a year
>kept dying in the starting section
I did beat it though
hey man i wont get into heaven by swearing
making "very hard" harder than "revengeance" difficulty was some shit
OP here. Just beat Sundowner. He was hard but I feel like he was fair. Does the game get much harder from here?
Depends. If by 'beat' you mean D rank with damage out the ass then no. If you mean S rank no damage then yes.
I felt your pain. I just switched to Ripper Mode to kill everything else so fast I had plenty of time before the second Mastiff showed up to kill the first one.
Seriously, fuck those things.
THIS

Swapping revengence with very hard makes more sense, since you get to abuse perfect parries.
The 2nd dual GRAD fight in detroit made me drop very hard for like a year, until I learned you can skip it.
Had a blast playing again, but now I'm on Armstrong's final form, and don't feel like grinding through to learn how to not get 1-hit ko'd by his bullshit firewalls.
I don't give a fuck about S ranks. I beat case 4 with an average rank of C.
After I beat it I went back with maxed out Murasama, maxed out stats, and a wig to get my revengeance on very hard.
>No damage Armstrong and Sam are a fucking joke
>Mistral and Mastiffs are hell to avoid because of the sheer amount of attacks coming at you
Bitch niggers. This is the easiest Hack and Slash game I ever played, S Ranked everything on every difficulty, got all those tasty cheevos. The only part that was hard to S-Rank was fighting off all those enemies in chapter 4. Also if you got hit in the stupid minigame after Sundowner you had to start over, Platinum your QTE's are never good please stop
>Mistral
Are we talking strictly NG, or NG+ too? Because Mistral, too, is joke with her own weapon equipped. Dwarf Gekkos can't get near you and it does damage for days.
Any section with the mastiffs made me attempt stealth because of how much of a pain in the ass it was to fight them
Seriously, fuck whoever thought these enemies were a good idea
What difficulty are you on? Have you upgraded or even thought to try Monsoon's weapon? I remember it was pretty OP during certain fights on Revengeance.
Just NG, Polearm and Ripper Mode make Mistral trivial.
I never did get past Armstrong in the hardest difficulty
Now I'm at that fucking beaner Jetstream Sam. Fucking fuck. I thought the freight elevator was unfair. God fucking damn this fight is just stupid. Overpowered scripted attacks out of fucking nowhere and he dashes away every time you're about to break his guard. Fuck this stupid hue.
Use Meme man's Magnetic Sai's to cheese it
I'm only familiar with the HF blade. I haven't used any of the other weapons.
Don't get hit
Hit him until he dies
>dodge when the bad man flashes yellow
>block when the bad man flashes red
This is too hard for 90% of Sup Forums
Parry like a motherfucker and defensive offensive to dodge the rocks. Also remember you don't really have to knock his vuvuzela out.
You mean you've been playing this whole time without equipping a sub weapon?
Can't tell if you're stupid or a madman for getting this far.
>haven't used any of the other weapons
ohhh man, that's like another 2 playthroughs at least.
Yes genius, I have used sub weapons. I'm not talking about those.
I still laugh whenever I remember the retarded reviewers whining about parrying be "so difficult" and without fail bitching about the Monsoon fight being impossible.
Just keep running through the game with the retard strength you're used so far then.
Don't complaint about difficulty if you're purposefully making it hard for yourself.
MGR was probably my first game of this genre and it a decent learning curve (mostly understanding the parry system and such) I'd say it took me an hour or so to click with the game... after that I found it to be reasonably smooth sailing. The bosses as sort of designed to gate off players who haven't properly learned the mechanics so whenever I got to a boss like that I simply learned what was required.
That said: I played Bayonetta 2 and found it incredibly easy - everything just sort of fell into place at that point. After that I jumped to Wonderful 101 which had a pretty punishing learning curve - it took me a few hours to become even slightly competent at that game (but it paid off considering how phenomenal that game is)
Git gud
It's the most fair, balanced, and honorable fight in the whole game
Just a simple 1 on 1 with no bullshit or tricks up the sleeve
I'm not purposefully making it hard. Grenades aren't gonna do shit for me in this fight and launchers control like ass. Half my health will be gone by the time I get around to pressing the button.
>implying Mastifs even make it onto the bullshit scale when those rocket spamming mechs in ninja gaiden 2 exist
Take your greasy beaner ass elsewhere, Sam.
No you dingus you hit triangle to use the unique weapons like the sai and staff
What so if I equip them they don't take the place of the HF blade?
No you use them to mix it up between combos
