Rebel Galaxy

>AC4 naval combat, but in space
>in-game economy, factions, smuggling, pirates, bounties
>pretty neat soundtrack
could it be that CURRENT YEAR has produced a pretty fun game?

at first glance I thought this was just another competitive only P2W dogfight kinda game, but a friend told me its single player and you kinda just fly around doing whatever you want.

Trying it out now, seems bretty gud. Is it completely single player? Is the balance good between ships and equips? So far I'm liking it since I got it with ps+ but if it turns out to actually be good I might just pick it up on PC when it goes on sale.

I dunno, man. I just fly around, smuggling contraband and taking bounties.
At one point I was venturing into high level systems to take on 100,000+ CR delivery contracts.

10 minutes in I have 2 main gripes (playing on PS4 mind you)

1. No way to turn off HUD or even fucking turn off automatic hints like DONT BOOST TOO MUCH OR YOU HAVE TO COOL DOWN every 2 fucking seconds

2. Fucking EVERY single enemy ship is too high level to even damage. I'm taking low risk level quests and the enemies literally take 0 damage from my shit. Granted, I haven't upgraded anything yet as I've still just started the game but still, what the flying fuck is going on. Am I doing something wrong or can you just NOT engage in combat until you're a few hours in?

This was one of the 'free' games for PS4 on PS+ this month right?

I wish it had full 3d movement. Not to say that the 2d naval combat is bad, but it's pretty jarring to have that kind of combat set in space. I expect freedom of movement when it comes to space games.

If you can get past that, it's fun for about 10 hours with some good music to boot, but it gets unbelievably repetitive soon after.

>get endgame battleship
>everything melts

Shit was fun, I wish it was longer and alien gear was easier to get.

I bought it, launched it, saw the shitty and fucking ugly ass main menu, exited, refunded it, profit.

>a space naval simulator
>no way to turn off HUD
>in a fucking space sim
>can't look at the pretty environment or appreciate your ship without thousands of fucking markers everywhere
>game is constantly bombarded with biker bar tier music
>being in space is just like being a cowboy hyuck hyuck

They WANTED this game to fail

The combat feels clunky becuase enemies move in 3D yet you can't.
Also, the broadsides are kind of fucked. If you fully charge up, it ALWAYS hits. If you don't charge up fully, the bullets go fucking every which direction and can't be aimed at all.

They pretty much have to be actively colliding with you for weapons to hit without a charge.

>not wanting the space cowboy vibe.

Go away

>mixing what is literally the pinnacle of technological advancement with hillbilly trash
>good
pick 1

he needs another game of "future space empire, so cool", like sins, X, starpoint, endless space, galaxy on fire, elite, eve.

what the hell is "AC4 naval combat"?

Ace Combat, air conditioner and Armored Core don't make any sense there.

Assassin's Creed 4

are there mods/workshop in this yet

Yes what world famous franchise with the distinctive AC initials recently had a game with world famous naval combat in its fourth game? Gee I wonder.

How am I supposed to know that shitty game is about boats? I thought it was about some jumpy faggot who stabs people. All I remember is the first one was JADE'S GAME, BUY JADE'S GAME NOW and it got yearly rehashes I promptly ignored.

>Can't turn off the tips
Totally with you, but eventually the hints do go away. They show up ~10 times and then disappear (which is still too much)
>Everything is a powerhouse compared to you
I found this too, the answer was to only take delivery jobs at first until I had better equipment.

Though the meter describing the difficulty of missions (low, average, high) is pretty misleading in my opinion. I'm not sure what the calculations are, but sometimes enemy ships spawn in groups and all fire at you at once and there's seemingly nothing to be done about it. I found that hiring a mercenary helps divide the aggro.

sounds better than no man's sky

If you like being a space trucker, it's pretty alright. You make a lot of dosh doing merchant based missions.

If you prefer combat, fuck off. The person who hired you throws pennies at you when you bring in a completed contract.

*pushes in glasses* Heh, I guess you're right pal, us elitests don't need anymore fucking hillbilly trash. Fucking hillbilly's, am i right friend? Lets go back to our mozart music my friend. What's your favorite song?

>rolling in a Blackgate
>filling upgraded laser broadsides
>melting EVERYTHING just by spamming broadsides
>AJ Styles NJPW music hits
>collect mission rewards of 2m space bux

Most people find the 2D aspect pretty off putting but its fun as hell. I imagine if they put out a demo the cash would flow in

My only problem was that going pirate makes it hard to complete main quests. Unless they fixed that since launch

Played for an hour.
Broadsides were useless, I used the turret things instead.

Boring game overall tbqh

>That guy who cant hit with broadsides

>Come out of warp speed
>Red Devils and Double Jack pirates waiting for you
>this kicks on youtube.com/watch?v=9IDnFzr_ZaY
what do, Sup Forums?

No point if the other guns can follow the things im shooting at instead of making me turn all the time

>mission to protect or assist someone
>they die seconds after I arrive once I've just started to engage

How are you supposed to even do this?
Fighters wreck the NPCs I need to protect and I don't see any way to stop them.

Really fun, if short, game. I enjoyed it. Also,
PROXIMITY ALERT
PROXIMITY ALERT
PROXIMITY ALERT

literally utter fucking shit
>2D
what the fuck were they thinking?
jesus fucking christ how atrocious

First thing I bought was a mining laser, to mine of course, but holy shit does this thing shred through ships fast. Are beam weapons just OP in general, or is it because I'm still in the first sector?

Neat game, though it'd be nice to do stuff on planets, like how it works with the stations.

Turn up the music, hit the thrusts and crash into the ships around the NPC. That usually gets aggro

>turn the music up
For some reason this little element of the post made me lol the most.

Might aswell add in "Close your eyes" and "Sing along at the top of your lungs"

>Implying Space sim and old western dont go great together

Holy fuck just kys

Pioneering the old west is as same as pioneering space
