I don't know why "episodic" would make you drop something permanently. It makes me drop games temporarily until all the episodes are out and can be purchased in a inevitable bundle that costs the same amount as a normal retail release.

Overwatch

Really? "Blizzard" makes me want to pick up a game. Warcraft 3, Star Craft 1 and 2, Hearthstone, Overwatch - it's all good (except diablo - I never really enjoyed those).

Never played HotS or WoW.

>video game

>survival

got it, giant open world with fuck all and I'm gonna spend 2 hours trying to find enough small rocks to craft a pointy stick while you promise the other 85% of the game will be implemented "soon."

What about an eleven foot pole?

>soulslike

Your mum

Words that make you pick up a game

>We didn't listen to the investors and the game testers when they said it was too hard, I said fuck them and I made the game harder

did you not enjoy 90s point and click adventure?
but I definitely agree with you.

>cash shop

>Doing almost nothing to teach the player the rules of the game

>Instead there are "Jesus fucking christ FINALLY" moments
>All leading up to the end of the game, with a battle so hard and poorly written that by the time it's over you dont even know why characters were doing what they were doing

Survival Every game is a survival game your just bad

Open World
Literally nothing wrong with open world games

>git Gud or go back to your shitty Japaneses Text base "games"

Cloud is buffed up on mako energy, it's standard procedure for Shinra soldiers. That's why he's initially stronger than everybody. Everybody else in Cloud's gang are natty, expect Vincent.

I actually like his sickly appearance because itmakes sense when you know he should just be recovering from Hojo's mako infusions and had been in a test tube for 5-6years

Bonus points if his body begins to look healthier as the game progresses

>Every game is a survival game
So every game plays like Ark, Rust and other shit like that?

>Vincent
You mean gameplay-wise or storywise?

Well you didnt say that
but Rust and Subnautica are fun games
any other game in the genre is shit

When I said survival, I meant games like that. Shit like Ark are the ones you always see called "survival".

The Forest is great despite not being finished. I'm pretty sure the complexity of the AI puts it light-years was of anything on the market already.

Damn dude I wanna stick my dick so deep into that Cloud's twink ass they're gonna need another Jenova to pull me out of there. No homo.

>remake

Expect him to do what?

Nobody is really natty.
Cloud and Vincent aren't,
Caith Sith is a robot,
Red XIII a wolf thing,
Aeris a ancient and sword holster
Barret is mister T

THe only discutable Natty are Cid and Tifa

Cid is angerholic, and Tifa is consuming very large amounts of martial arts magazine, you pervert fucks

i don't think you know what that word even means.

i think that means you' re a little fagget, cuz only u are angry and sad because of "japenese" word and insulting japanese shit

or i just made a joke because of him misspelling a word.
never in my post did i even imply to liking japanese stuff

so we're good bro

>roguelike

>diverse characters
These days it means 'one dimensional characters plugged in straight from bad fanfiction to tick a checkbox'

This. Indies can be fun but it's like one game in a hundred

>produced by [AAA developer]

Good thing Square never called FFVIIr episodic

They're releasing it in chunks / episodes, so it doesn't really matter what they call it.

I love Japanese video games, why don't you?
Write a 10 word essay and leave it on my desk before the thread 404s.

>>Episodic
Nah that can be good or bad. If Squeenix actually makes the episodes full 50+ hour games than I could see it working. Really depends what they do with it.

It worked pretty well for trails in the sky (its "chapters" but honestly the same thing) and all 3 chapters are full 60+ hour games. Never heard a single person complain about that series basically being episodic.

As much as people here dislike Telltale games I think they usually do it right as well. The wolf among us was 5 dollars per episode with the full game being $25 for example which is reasonable.

I came here to post this.

This type of game honestly has potential its just the market is flooded with poormans DayZ clones.

>Nah that can be good or bad
stopped reading there

I don't know if it counts as episodic, but whenever a dev brags about the levels of a game being separated like episodes of a DVD season i.e. "next time, on..." at the end of a mission and "previously, on..."

Of the top of my head, Alone in the Dark, Alan Wake, Until Dawn. It especially made no sense in Alan Wake, a movie about a writer, where every other narration line was about Steven King.

I was disappointed at first, but if it actually has a good amount of content I'll be fine.

I especially like the idea of expanding the time you spend in Midgar,as that was honestly the best part of the game.

> It especially made no sense in Alan Wake, a movie about a writer,

Meant to say a game pretending to be a movie or tv show about a writer

>I especially like the idea of expanding the time you spend in Midgar
Yeah same here there's honestly no excuse for them to not make Midgar fully explorable.

Max Payne's comic sequences fit at least. And on that budget, they had no other choice.

>dark souls like
>rouge like (even though its not a rogue like game)
