Haseo is the best.
Midori should have been a party member in G.U.
It's bullshit that there's no Edge Punisher in the party
TRI-EDGY
>It's a message from Atoli or Gaspard
Henako is sleepy
At least you have Matsu.
Oh wait.
>Adept Rogue is a shit-tier class only used by tryhard faggots like Haseo
>Sequel makes gameplay improvements to the way weapon switching works, explained as an in-game patch to buff ARs' utility
>Suddenly a bunch of shitters start playing Adept Rogue and get chewed up by veterans of the class
It's the little details that made the setting work.
>Adept Rogue
>Developers unable to make AI change class/weapon by themselves
>Matsu is forever Steam Gunner because plot
While the original games were pretty guilty of giving you way too many redundant characters (why would you ever need a second Twin Blade, let alone around four of them?), GU doesn't give you enough variety. No Edge Punishers, the only Lance Partizan is fucking Piros, and the only other Adept Rogue is non-functional presumably due to programming issues.
I just want Ovan
My money's on CC2 is waiting for VR to get better so they can make a legit The World that's better than Fragment.
>tfw VR will never get better
And G.U. has too many Blade Brandier in the party, do we really need Bordeaux and Kaede in the party?
I mean, they choose Kaede for party member? What the hell, CC2?
I completely fucking forgot that she even joins your party. But you're right, and it's the same problem as using a Heavy Blade besides Black Rose in the original games. You're never going to pick another Blade Brandier over Endrance (or Silabus if the former is unavailable), so they may as well not exist. Make Kaede a Lance Partizan or something. Jesus.
Kaede is the biggest waste of slot in G.U for me. I don't need another Blade Brandier and her role in the story is so minimal.
Story-wise, she is Zelkova's bodyguard and that is the only thing I remember from her. She's just there... standing around while Zelkova do all the talking. Fucking Hiiragi is more memorable than Kaede.
No wait, even Henako is more memorable than Kaede because of her craziness in the forum
come on
come on
I'm right here
SKEITH
>there are people who didn't marry Azure Kite
Haseo is legitimately my favorite video game character. It probably helps that he had literal ages worth of character development.
It was important to have a christmas cake character I guess.
But if you want a mature woman, you'd go for Pi
I always married Endrance, because I have this theory. And that theory is that Haseo is a massive faggot.
whatever happened to that psp/vita game about all the previous main characters getting mindfucked?
also accepable
anyone happen to have a picture of Haseo's fully upgraded bike? Every time I look I can only find low-res stuff where you can barely make it out at all
I felt bad that you couldn't marry Ovan, but at least the manga had them be really gay towards eachother instead.
>My class is the ability to have the powers of every other class
Fucking adept rogues I swear
Watching the PKK scene in the beginning again, it's cool to see them crediting the voice actors like that
On paper, the english cast for GU series are great. It got Steve Blum, Mary McGlynn, Crispin Freeman, D.C. Douglas, Michael McConnohie, Kari Wahlgren etc
to be fair, Haseo's X-th form is literally hacked and under normal circumstances would get him b&
agreed. also I am a colossal sucker for when characters get new outfits at every stage of their character arc
Zelkova is Helba, guys!
Man, I miss those days when people are speculating about Zelkova's real identity. Lots of cool (& crazy) theory.
it's a shame Haseo never learned in the game about what happened to him as Sora
haseo 3rd form > everything else > shit > xth form
also shit I wish status and damage types had meant something more
Alkaid is 10/10 waifu material.
Too bad her english voice is shit.
>crawlan in muh skinan
>best form
Xth form is handsome as fuck, it even shows his bellybutton in the lewdest way.
Xth form > 1st form > 2nd >>>>>>> 3rd form.
Xth > 3rd > 1st > 2nd
I will admit 3rd is the most memorable of them all though.
Am I the only one who, despite everything, finds the most unreallistic about settings like this is that people only have one character and everyone has oc and no copyright character?
>watch the cutscenes online because actually important plot is important
>skip the boring-ass gameplay
That's how I did it. Hated these new characters, gameplay is boring except for bosses, but the story is kind of interesting and required so.
I don't think bellybuttons are supposed to be that low.
>he didn't marry Saku
Actually it's common in the setting for people to copy famous peoples characters. It was stated even back in SIGN, and multiple people take inspiration from the old .hackers for their design.
girls have cooties, user
THE best marriage
youtube.com
>Saku
>girl
>the omake episode where Mimiru gets pissy at BlackRose for ganking her look
Saku is the girl, Bo is the boy.
I always wondered why, when Silabus and Gaspard were forcing a tutorial on a guy who clearly didn't need it, it never occurred to them that he might be playing on an alt character or something, especially since he was playing as the "experts only" class that most people don't bother with. The World must be one of those awful MMOs that charge you money for character slots or something.
Saku and Bo are the same person with a mental illness. But Saku is the better mental illness.
It's a shame that Atoli got stuck on the sidelines in Vol. 3 after having such great development in Vol. 2. The final volume seemed kinda rushed and incomplete in general though, same as Vol. 4 of the original series.
"I think the name is Haseyo?"
Is that a guy or a girl?
better than the ending of the anime
>So this is the enemy, Morgana
>Guiz it's dangerous, I'm gonna teleport you somewhere safe
>lesbians scene
>anime ends
Count the belts. If there's an even number, it's a dude. Odd, it's a lady.
I thought they were two siblingssharing the same character? Or did I miss something.
Are you talking about SIGN? Because SIGN was only made to be a prequel to IMOQ. The enemy isn't meant to be defeated there, only discovered. Things like Skeith appearing and fucking over Sora was to set the premise for the actual games.
I still remember someone from CC2 (from translated interview or something) said Alkaid is gonna be an important character in vol. 3...
Real person is a boy named Iori. He has Dissociative Identity Disorder. There's even a mini-quest where Saku questions her existence and you can permanently get rid of her forever. Bo will even ask you if you've Saku around if you convince her to go away forever.
That was what they claimed. There's a "loyalty quest" in the third game where Saku admits that she's just a split personality of Bo, and you get to encourage her to either stay a separate personality or re-absorb into Bo's.
ur a cheeky cunt, I'll give you that
yeah but I was young it would be years later when I first even heard about the games
I honestly have no idea why Alkaid has so many fans, considering how little she even does in the games. She's a half-baked rival that you fight twice in Vol. 1, she turns into a cardboard cut-out of a tsundere character for two quests in Vol. 2, and is completely absent from Vol. 3. And when she finally does become playable, not only is she completely redundant compared to Haseo, who is ironically a better Twin Blade despite being an Adept Rogue, but she's hilariously under-leveled to boot.
Alkaid is an unpopular nerdy tsundere stalker. A lot of introverted guys like the idea of a crazy nerdy girl addicted to them.
So we can all agree that he did nothing wrong, right?
Link was one of the most sad things to have happened to the franchise. As a game I think it's alright, but it was so embraced in nostalgia that it was ridiculous. G.U showed that a mainline installment of the franchise could have its own identity, but Link just kept reintroducing old characters. It's legitimately disappointing to see that even when they stop doing Kite clones, they just start doing clones of everything else.
he was a faggot
>muh AIDA
>muh god complex
>See .hack//Quantum on PSN
>"Oh, I haven't though about .hack in years. I wonder what exciting new concepts they've come up with since //GU."
>My fucking face when
what part of the internet do you think Aura went to when she left The World?
Sup Forums.
She's Sup Forums's redpill.
Sakuya was one of the better Kite clones in my opinion, since at least she acted very differently. It felt like a pretty big waste to have her look like Kite though.
they could have at least given her a different pallet
The official Space Jam website. The reason it hasn't changed since 1995 is because she won't let it.
Especially considering that Kite's character model couldn't actually get that red color without being hacked. He was green until he got the Book of Twilight.
I like Kite a whole lot, and Azure Kite. Shugo is kinda justified I guess. I don't blame them for this. It just makes me really sad.
Link was literally traveling through time because someone was messing with it, which is fucking insane. I don't remember if that was even explained, how they were able to do that. I can accept an eco-terrorist group shutting down technology in the world for a few minutes, but fucking time travel?
This, at least she had a personality unlike the movie chick. I can't even remember her name.
She shitposts on Sup Forums.
She isn't on the internet. She's on a micro chip.
I just finished finally watching SIGN, played all the ps2 games many years back. The games were great, but SIGN was a solid 6.5/10...all the best parts of that show were just references to what was going to happen in the games later on, or seeing stuff from the games in anime form. The characters all had well written personalities, but the writing wasnt too great. The animation was...budget quality. And no action? No anime use of the spells? It was a bit frustrating at times. Are there any other .hack games/shows that are worthwhile?
No. And ignore anyone who tells you to watch //ROOTS.
I would love another .hack game.
Liminality came with the first four games, it takes place outside of the game. There's Roots, but you might have the same frustration as with SIGN. Soundtrack is once again amazing-tier though.
If you really care about getting all of the plot, watch Quantum and the movie too, as well as Link's cutscenes, since the game itself sucks. The Thanatos Report is worth watching, it's also in the outside world and the most recent content we have.
I wouldn't mind the Kite clones so much if every .hack story didn't have the exact same "Computer bug puts people into comas" story line. Can't one of them just be about defeating a raid boss, but they have to get a school project done and meet their family for dinner or something?
I can buy that
Me too, but their team's already tied up with the FFVII remake.
I heard that they have the story written out, they've just been waiting around to be green-lit.
>mfw we never get another game and are left on a cliffhanger/we get another Kite clone.
The Legend of the Twilight anime was basically Slice of Life and not much like the manga.
SIGN was great as a slice of life with ongoing drama, but the trailers make it seem way more action driven than it really is
If you've played IMOQ then you should watch Liminality, it's a 4 episode OVA meant to be watched as you play along the games. Really solid side material.
.hack//GIFT is a celebratory OVA thing that was sent out to the people who bought IMOQ, and is just a silly crossover thing between IMOQ and SIGN. It's genuinely fun, I do recommend it. Only 20 minutes anyway.
There's .hack//Roots which is a prequel to G.U. It starts out pretty promising but turns ungodly terrible halfway through.
G.U Trilogy is a movie that very loosely adapts the events of the first 2 games in the G.U series. It's basically an abridged version with only some key points shown. Only thing I can recommend it for is that it has really neat fight scenes, and Aina is super cute in it.
G.U Returner, also known as the last episode of Roots takes place after the end of G.U. Basically a one episode epilogue.
.hack//Quantum takes place after Link, and is just a fun timewaster. Doesn't have much to offer in terms of worldbuilding, but a nice little story on its own. It also follows up a bit on Pi. You don't need to know jack shit about Link to watch it.
Beyond the World takes place after Quantum, and is a really, really mediocre 3D movie. The animation is genuinely great, but overall it gets incredibly boring.
Thanatos Report is an animated OVA, and one of the last things to happen in the storyline, right before Versus. It follows up on the events of Beyond the World, showing what happened to Aura after that.
>FFVII remake.
>animated OVA
I meant 2D animated, since one might expect it to be 3D with Beyond The World having been so.
CC2 is Naruto fanboys
They would rather make new Naruto games than .hack
you'd thin they'd at least change the formula a bit by making the plot 'the latest attempt to recreate Aura spat out a bunch of digital demigods who are fucking with everything'
It had some occasional SoL moments, but when I think back to SIGN all I can see is two characters staring at absolutely nothing while talking about how weird Tsukasa's predicament is.
.hack is one of the few franchises I wouldn't mind going full 3DCG, since CC2 knows how to do it justice.
I think corporate was trying to build hype for .hack by making them basically the main characters in Project X-Zone. Don't know if it worked or not.
GU's battle system has really aged like milk
Well, Orca currently has Aura, so. We'll see how that goes.
Or we'll never get anything ever again.
Where the fuck do I start with this franchise? Some .hackfag enlighten me please.
yeah but it'll be a while before there's enough Bort content to justify a new Storm game
also fuck CC2 for not including the road to ninja outfits in Storm 4's DLC packs. they had those shitty 'white robes' outfits but not my bitch Hinata
I was actually surprised to see .hack characters got a lot of spotlight in PxZ. At least Bamco still trying to promote the series
Who owns the .hack IP anyway? Bamco? CC2? or it is co-owned by both of them?
SIGN anime then/or Infection->Mutation->Outbreak->Quarantine games
after that the ROOTS anime then/or the G.U. trilogy
then see
Play the PS2 games. Ignore everything else. Keep in mind that the original Quadrilogy aged horribly, but GU is still pretty good. Also, fucking forget about getting physical copies of any of them.
Alternatively, you can just play Digimon Stories: Cyber Sleuth.
Thank goodness Naruto finally ended.
:( I wish
