I don't think it would work well mechanically. In basketball, football, qnd soccer games, you take control of the player you pass the ball to.

5 vs 5 volleyball has a court to small and it's constant back and forth. They'd either have to slow the game down significantly to give you time to cicle through positions or you're mostly stuck at one position then you get pissed when your AI teammates fuck up.

2 vs 2 beach volleyball may be doable since there's only one other player to cicle through.

I think that it would probably work a bit better than you might indicate. NES has Super Spike V'Ball, after all. As long as you have a button dedicated to a critical function (dive for the ball) that can make the closest AI character move, it should work out okay. Just delay the ball in the air on your side and you'll have the time to set things up with your main controlled character.

The problem is that most people don't take volleyball seriously, so you end up with just which has a shitty and uninteresting volleyball game as the only option to play. Nobody cares about volleyball, nobody makes decent volleyball, so there are hardly any good ones out there.

I played DOAX 1 and 2 back in the day when I was flooded with excessive hormonal lust during my puberty days. look back at that now feeling pathetic for spending money on them but I was like 13-17 when I played them.

that said the volleyball in those games was kind of fun. just tealized I havent see anyone post webms of the volleyball in the new ones and not sure if anons have even tried it themselves kek.

also one of the mario party games had a legit volleyball game IIRC. I know it wasn't even the sports mix game but one of the mario party's had a few optional seperate sports game that were more than just mini games. me and my buddy used to have a blast with the hockey.
