Idk, the gameplay is bad, Rebirth 3 and V2 are better. They definitely aren't the best jrpgs of all time, in fact they are average in my opinion. I kept coming back because the characters are well written and there is a metric shit ton of references to the games industry: From in jokes to gaming mags. And fuck me the conquest ending in R2 was written well.

Yes, but I didn't find the writing enjoyable. Even if the game is SUPPOSED to be about references and dumb memes, it doesn't make it any better.

Sega hard girls did referential humor much better I think. In Neptunia it's really throw away and doesn't ever amount to anything.

You can argue that there's a bad end in V-II too, the one where the CPUs are permanently corrupted by Kurome and the game just fades to black.
Only difference is you don't get an achievement for that.
