What the Fuck happened?
What the Fuck happened?
Pokemon is and always will be a hilariously mediocre game. Only fitting that it has shit balance
>""""""competitive pokemon""""""
Pachirisu and Follow Me was a wild ride.
Legendaries were a mistake and should be banned from all competitive
In 2014, only Kalos dex was allowed. In 2015, National dex.
Despite that most of the non box legendaries are fine, some even bad, I still want this. Tired of seeing 3 or 4 of the same legends in every team, in any format.
people hate on Smogon but it's better than this garbage
THANK YOU GENIES
Aw fuck, I remember watching the VGC 2014 game. Everyone was going apeshit about the Pachirisu carrying the game in the /vp/ sticky. Shit was funny.
Three years after the game came out, the meta was solved.
Why are you surprised?
Ban all legendaries. Megas were a mistake and should probably be banned from competitive. I have a feeling that super move shit from SuMo isnt going into online battles. If it does it will be litteral cancer.
Guess what you are going to see this year?
Kyogre
Groudon
Salamence
Rayquaza
Amoongus
1 Random
Aw man, I remember the 2014 championships. Most memorable moment was probably Pachirisu tanking a Draco Meteor
pokemon sucks
REMOVE GENIES
You can only use 2 big legends, and it's gonna be Xerneas and Groudon
The allowed pokemons change every year, so you're wrong.
Except some legendaries are barely on the level of some other fully evolved pokemon.
Many are arguably worse, in the case of Moltres and Articuno.
Interesting to see the same pokemon used by the first place guy in the latest year teams
Good times
Megas are shit, what else is new
Yeah then there's shit like genies who are just everywhere
That;s why smogon has a tier list.
Everyone realized that MKangz was broken as fuck because it basically attacked twice every turn. Also MEANIE GENIES destroy anything that isn't them. Fairy types are broken, and get Heatran beats fairies.
Doubles is a shitty meta. More news at 11.
>""""""""competitive""""""""""""" pokemon
>What the Fuck happened?
>implying something went wrong
It was a joke from the start
Why they didn't ban legendaries and pseudos is way fucking beyond
Doubles is great. Vgc is just shit
The only fairy in '15 was Sylveon though.
Fuck off fairyfag
Because every other Fairy user got BTFO by a Heatran.
>Doubles is a shitty meta.
>No clauses like sleep clause.
>Literally only ban event legendaries, meaning broken as fuck shit like Mega Mom is allowed.
>4 Pokemon.
>people are SURPRISED that people end up using the absolute strongest things and nothing else.
No thanks.
>no more weather wars
It hurts
>The same Pokemon over and over across years
This is the sign of an unbalanced game. All top five slots should be radically different from each other.
>This is the sign of an unbalanced game
No, this is the sign of an unbalanced league.
It's literally "anything goes except event legendaries."
Gen 5 OU is literally the absolute worst the meta has ever been.
typing
>Playing Smogon
Nah son
>Casual game not designed toward hardcore play at all
>unbalanced game
gee ya think
next you'll tell me Melee is unbalanced
Smogon is shit, but it is leagues better than VGC.
The only alternative is VGC which is... Well, that's what this thread is about.
>Competitive Pokemon
That's what happened, everyone just copies the other. The only player input is mindgames. Competitive Pokemon is a total joke and it doesn't make it any better legendary Pokemon aren't banned
A legitimate strategy is to abuse RNG that should tell you all you need to know about Competitive Pokemon
I'm a casul who usually just gives 4 good attack moves of different types to pokemon and never bothers with the weird shit like baton pass/trick room/ect or the stat boosters/drains but I notice a lot of "pro" players stand by that shit. Are there videos or something that can show me how that kind of stuff is utilized in the meta?
Stat boosting moves are absolute necessities.
It's what allows you to stay in on Pokemon that have an advantage against you anyways.
To put it into perspective, a dragon dance (Boosts speed and attack) literally multiplies your attack and speed stat by 1.5
Meaning, for pure example purposes, a pokemon has 300 speed and 300 attack, after one dragon dance, their speed and attack are now both 450.
This is what is known as boosting by "one stage" moves like swords dance and agility boos by "two stages" meaning it literally doubles your stat.
I'd like to know this too, I've only seen baton pass used in "EPIC MAGIKARP SWEEP" videos and don't if it's actually useful
Yeah but I find that usually I can just 1 shot things anyway most of the time as long as I use type effectiveness.
No. You're dumb. Unless that pokemon has like 300+ in attack or special attack, is fast enough to do the first move, or if not fast enough, is BULKY enough to tank the first hit, has STAB, AND it's super effective.
You're lying. The only time "lel, I just one shit stuff anyways" is really only applicable is if it's a X4 weakness
To add to this, this is why M-Kang is busted. It attacks twice a turn for 1.5x its attack power and gets a move that is effectively an offesive swords dance
or hes just playing story mode
Japan is the cancer of vidya, which is of no surprise.
Genies dominated every meta since their introduction in 2011. Winner's team in 2011 used something like 3 genies + Terrakion, I shit you not. 2014 was only diverse because they weren't available yet.
Holy shit, the Genies are pokemon? I thought they were Yokai Watch's answer to legendaries or something.
Educate yourself
They're not THAT badly designed.
I seriously had no idea. I just associated them with Yokai Watch because they usually get posted around the same time that "be thankful for what you have" guy who posts yokai watch in pokemon threads posts so I figured that was him posting more yokai watch.
Man I fucking hate these genies, they're a fucking cancer in the game. The only one I don't have a problem with is Tornadus because he doesn't resist literally everything.
I fucking hate T wave prankster spamming thundurus and intimidate spamming Landorus. Even when I was playing on pokemon showdown a few years back, these shits were still an issue.
Stat boosters aren't important at all in single player for the most part, since enemy pokemon are not only weaker but you also probably know what type of pokemon they're going to use AND you get to switch your pokemon when they're throwing out a new one, which you can't do in multiplayer.
The easiest place where a stat boosting move is good is when you know your opponent is going to switch pokemon (Ex. Because your pokemon can easily beat theirs due to type match up) and will switch to a better pokemon to fight yours. Then you can stat boost up and then potentially destroy their other pokemon anyways, or if they don't switch you can keep buffing up your stats for free since they can't kill you and then destroy their whole team with a ridiculously over buffed pokemon.
