it's really accurate and I prefer it to SMG since it's easier to headshot humans.
Of course they do, but none more so than the l85, purely because it degrades twice as fast as, say, an AK74, which you already have a great number of.
It's pointless because there are way better options by the time it becomes available, and ammo is non-existent until you tread a bit further north, or go back to the Bar to buy more.
Really, the L85, along with the ammo, needs to start appearing before the Bar for it to be viable in any way.

But other than that, I don't know.
What really bugs me is that the beach buggy is much slower now, so you can't outrun the train at the end of Highway 17 anymore.
At least if you're driving normally, valve didn't change the speed of the buggy when you drive in reverse, so it's actually faster

It's been such a long time since I've played through Half Life 2 I hardly remember how it used to drive.
I think the last time I played it through entirely, it was on the Nvidia Shield clamshell.
That thing was actually amazing as a portable HL2 machine, ran fairly well for a handheld. Also it has the loudest fucking speakers of any portable device I have ever used, you could crank that shit to only 70% and it would blow everyone the fuck out

I don't know how conscious it was a decision to decrease the speed, but when they ported HL2 to the Orange Box engine back in 2010/11 (IIRC) it was slower. Could be an engine quirk, could have been a decision that was made for the console version that made it's way into the PC version.
They haven't fixed it, regardless. Which is annoying because it blatantly breaks a piece of the game.
