So how's TESO doing these days? I know it was a wreck when it first came out, but lately I'm hearing it's not that bad.
I'm thinking about getting it since it's on sale on steam. I don't have a lot of free time on my hands and judging by the player reviews on steam this looks like it could be just what I'm looking for. I'm not looking for a hardcore end-game oriented MMO, I'm just looking to scratch an RPG itch every once in a while.
What I managed to gather: > no subscription required > soloable > a good amount of non-generic quests
Anyone care to share their thoughts?

i think it's improved a lot since release, personally. definitely worth the $20.
Jackson Stewart
It's incredibly boring. I've been told it gets better after the first 20 hours
Lincoln Torres
Boring in which sense? Uninteresting story, boring combat or what?
Jack Jenkins
Those are all about right. There's a lot of dlc, though. If you're just looking for an itch-scratcher, buy if right now.
Tyler Harris
A bit of both. The interface is ugly and between that and the quest design there wasn't any motivation or interest. It's weird, it's like take the enjoyable parts of skyrim, hollow them out and that's eso for me. It has a hint of potential in there. A hint of a good game, but it just falls flat for some reason
Mason Hill
If it wasn't elder scrolls maybe it would be better, but like it just makes me wanna play the single player game in all honesty
Kayden Allen
I got to level 40 with my friends by grinding tigers for hours. After that it got pretty stale and we all stopped playing since we didn't know what the fuck to do.
I played when they removed the subscription. Is the game better now, and how if so?
Evan Richardson
no OP, but my problem was that it seems like i'm one of the last remaining people who actually wants the social aspect of MMOs, and it just wasn't there when I first played (right after they made it p2p). I couldn't do any of the group quests in the area required for me to level up and advance to a new area, since it was impossible to find anyone in my level who was actually willing to group up. if that's remedied, I'd be willing to go back.
Lincoln Price
you can pretty easily solo the single player zones now. i don't think i ever had to group for that content
Luke Thomas
It feels like a weird combination of a MMO and a elder scrolls game. The combat is boring and if you want to play a melee dps you are forced to take the medium armor for more dps.
Anthony Powell
hmmm I'll have to go back and check that out, thanks.
Chase Harris
It's pretty much the same, they added a bit more freedom I that you can attack npcs and pickpocket though if you get caughthe you get thrown in jail or a fine
Robert Howard
yeah, any time. if you get stuck trying to find groups for dungeons you can always use the group finder
Mason Taylor
>> a good amount of non-generic quests
Isaiah Hernandez
They don't throw invincible guards at you anymore?
Jacob Johnson
questing and character stuff is better than GW2, has an active playerbase, glad it isn't a subscription
kinda boring at times, seems really easy too
Levi Gray
>console-adapted MMO It's shit, bud.
MMOs are dead.
Aaron Harris
yeah this is more of an rpg then an mmo
Thomas Wilson
It didn't come to console until a year or two after its launch
Landon James
So it's been this limited forever? This is really the hotbar of an MMORPG? Am I playing DOTA?
Levi Scott
yeah just shitty design choice most likely
that or the Console version was extremely delayed
Jackson Myers
The whole point of a Limited Action Set is that you have to choose which abilities you are bringing into battle for synergies sake. Instead of having 35 abilities available to you at any given moment.
GW1 did it, GW2 did it, Wildstar did it and it works for what it's trying to do.
Jacob Garcia
you have a weapon swap so it's double that
Jeremiah Barnes
You got to have permanent brain damage to think that Skyrim is better than anything, nevermind better than ESO.
Easton Gomez
The problem with ESO is that it didn't even try to do Elder Scrolls combat, it would have been a better game and a far more unique MMO if it did a more open ended combat system instead of the usual linear MMO skill tree
Shame, you can't even go underwater so no need to breathing enchants or potions
Blake Brown
>The problem with ESO is that it didn't even try to do Elder Scrolls combat Literally how is that a problem?
Nathan Sanchez
While you have options it still feels restricted.
I'd prefer to find and learn spells like you would in any other Elder Scrolls game rather than having skill points that unlock shit in weird as fuck categories that have never been present before.
Sorcery is down to Dark Magic, Conjuring, and Storm Calling which is solely Electric spells and nothing else. Game would be better off if you had the traditional system of locating spells and learning them, with the full elemental differences in the skill tree rather than just weapon enchants making up the difference.
