I'm a few hours in, and I realize that the lack of an actual RPG (or leveling up system?) may have been what thew people off - but honestly...I'm having an awesome time with this game. I mean the general scores seem to be favorable (7's and 8's), but I keep hearing the actual fans of the series loathed this one.
I dunno. Guess I'm weird. I'm having a blast with this hilarious adventure.
Thomas Garcia
>I'm having a blast with this hilarious adventure.
Landon Walker
>hilarious You enjoy the 50+ DUDE, PAPER, LMAO jokes? Fuck off cody
Parker Diaz
>Actual fans. >Hate this game
Ohohoho.
It's really nothing more than a vocal minority of autistic shitposters who can't handle any kind of new Nintendo release.
They shit on Codename S.T.E.A.M, Star Fox Zero, Federation Force, and others just for not being what ''''they'''' wanted.
Henry Morales
Gas the Cody racewar now. Sage
Aaron Fisher
>They shit on Codename S.T.E.A.M, Star Fox Zero, Federation Force, and others just for not being what ''''they'''' wanted. The only reason anyone cares about it at all is because Mario is in the title. Terrible game. Don't be so delusional.
Aaron Watson
The lack of RPG elements specifically the experience points make any non boss battle entirely skippable as there are no rewards for participating in them. Sure you get a few hammer and jump stickers and some coins, but ultimately all you need are the the big glossy ones specifically for the boss battles. Combine that with the obnoxious and bland toads and you have the game that's barely worthy to be a Nintendo game let alone a sequel to Paper Mario
Jaxson Young
I wasn't aware that Codename S.T.E.A.M was a Mario game.
It's time to admit that the shitposters on Sup Forums are not the IS ''''fans'''
They hate Fire Emblem, they hate Codename S.T.E.A.M, and they hate modern Paper Mario, despite all of those games being fantastic.
Jackson Cruz
Here's a good example of what I'm talking about here. This simply isn't true!
Winning battles gets you coins, which opens up new doors with the kinds of stickers you can buy and use.
Jace Jones
It is true though. You don't need to fucking buy anything from the shop because there are already so many fucking stickers lying around all over the place, you would have to suck ass at the game if you needed to use the coins, which is nearly impossible to do because the game is piss easy
Dominic White
None of those games are fantastic, user. Some are decent. Most are garbage. Sticker Star is the latter.
Bentley Garcia
Or, I could avoid all those battles all together as I obtain all the coins I need from the overworld, and not a single sticker obtained from battle it is worth as much or does as much damage as the real-world item stickers
Gavin Peterson
You get coins to get stickers to fight enemies to get coins to get the same stickers
when all you need to do is get the stickers from the overworld as well as the coins laying around to buy more stickers and then bum rush the boss.
You never need to actually fight the fodder.
No reason for unnecessary battling. you can find most of the stickers you need to beat the boss in the stage.
Effectively making a majority of the game skippable and pointless.
Jason Morris
>cries about having to GRIND in RPGs >now crying that it's pointless to GRIND wow nintendo fans sure are entitled
Camden Gray
>They hate Fire Emblem, they hate Codename S.T.E.A.M, and they hate modern Paper Mario, despite all of those games being fantastic.
Sticker Star was not fantastic
Zachary Phillips
Could you please point to where someone complained about grinding in an RPG in this thread?
Justin Long
>Identical Toads are the only NPCs when the other Paper Mario games had every Toad look at least somewhat different, not to mention there were a fuckload of other characters that weren't fucking Toad >No EXP in a goddamn RPG so you never have to actually fight things that aren't bosses, even Super Paper Mario had EXP and that was a platformer of all things >Bowser doesn't even talk
It's absolutely nothing like any of the other games, please stop shilling this garbage Cody. You aren't going to change anyone's mind.
Asher Anderson
>There are stickers lying around all over the place!
It's called 'balancing' user. You don't need to buy all of your stickers in shops. Battling is still an important part of the experience.
>Battling is the majority of the game!
This is retarded. Paper Mario has evolved into being a more exploration based game than a combat based one. Sure, combat is still there and is important, but discovering new locations and fighting through the environment itself is the main draw of the newer games, I think.
The casuals who don't like the game simply don't realize this, which is why they loathe it so much.
Grayson Moore
Despite the bitching about fe fates I seen a ton of threads talking about gameplay after it came out. Sticker star is just shit.
I hate how on top of the random battles being pointless the bosses were too. It was either completely wipe them by using a weakness or grind it out as painfully as possible because they Took lower damage if you didn't. God forbid if you actually ran out of stickers and had to do the entire thing over.
Grayson Jackson
>generic linear levels >exploration
just end your life. Paper Mario has become a walking sim
Charles Wright
He can't. He knows he has nothing to stand on so he changed the subject.
Caleb Johnson
Well now you don't even have to do that. Just avoid all confrontation and b-line the boss with the stickers you picked up on the way.
You only need to fight when the fight is a road block to the next area.
Angel Scott
I don't hate it, now it's useful if you wanna hack your console
