>still damage controlling D44M
Let it go, you made a shit game, move on.
i beg your fucking pardon
It's quie good if you would ask me
It may be not perfect Doom but at least it's by far better game than any COD
It's worse game than most Call of Duties. At least they know what they are.
I recently realized one thing: Doom 3 has possibly the worst implementation of audio logs to date. They missed pretty much every point!
The PDA hunt was fucking stupid. Doom was never about nitpicking narration elements. It was about murdering hog demons over a metal soundtrack. Then Doom 3 came out and they cockblocked your progress by making you listen to audio logs to find secrets. Hokey.
THIS
>I recently realized one thing: Doom 3 has possibly the worst implementation of audio logs to date. They missed pretty much every point!
What do you mean? Doom 3 audio was spectacular they gave you story and the code at the sametime.
I guess your one of those mindless drones that just play the game then move onto the next one, don't bother to find out anything about the game just play it.
You'd love pong.
Oh, I get it.
Your the reason why we have this.
Bioshock is about killing people over a sound track, not about hunting for codes.
>Insert game name is about killing "" over a sound track, not about hunting for ""
better than the new "hurr durr so oldskool so storyless so shootan!!!11", fuck doom 2016 it's like a comic facsimile of good arcade shooters like duke nukem and painkiller.
original dooms were not good by the way, they were just the first, not much better than wolf3d.
Honest to God, these are three of the worst posts i've ever seen on Sup Forums. I don't want to blame Summer, though it's probably because of Summer.
They didn't actually give you a lot of story through logs, they didn't give you any! Play SS2 (or even Bioshock, though it's not a great game really), they implemented the logs much better.
I've actually completed D3 at least twice.
But Bioshock/System Shock was never about killing people to the sound of metal. Don't know what the fuck you're talking about, dipshit.
>good arcade shooters
>painkiller
>original dooms
>not much better than wolf3d
uh guys
>wolf3d
Well, They were basically the samething just doom had a more thought out game design than wolf3d and more content.
False equivalency
Play fucking E1M4 or MAP23 and try to bring Bioshit into this
Point still stands.
good shootans began with the creation of build engine and ended with the demise of raven software
>Point still stands

Was the atmosphere and pacing changed between those games? Because it fucking was with Doom 2 and Doom^3
>good shootans began with the creation of build engine
wow no
>ended with the demise of raven software
as much as I love Raven, no
This music isn't even good, much less memorable. The main focus of the Bioshock/SS series was never its combat or soundtrack.
I can enjoy it for what it is, and I respect the Hell out of the game for being ahead of its time, but in comparison to the prior two Doom games and the new one, Doom 3 isn't too great.
Hell was great in Doom 3, I only wish it was longer actually.
If it broke you that would of been better.
Because it went the ooga booga cinematic jump scare route and had some fucking retarded design decisions that got patched out later.
The expansion was good though.
>it's simplified, so it's the same thing ^^
You're fucking dumb.
name a good arcade shooter from past 2010
Serious Sam 3 duh
No Man's Sky
doom
much worse than second encounter, has no level variety
undertale
Retro Blazer
I actually think Doom 3's version of hell is the best in the series. The impossible space level design was neat, and when you looked up to the sky you saw the cosmos: What the fuck was that all about? Really cool.
>Serious Sam 3
>Duke Nukem Forever 2013 (Mod, but still solid)
>Rise of the Triad
>Doom 2016
The last one's more in line with Painkiller than Doom classic, but it's solid.
Also, get fucking hyped for Serious Sam 4.
Not much worse, though worse. And the level variety is fine, the encounter variety suffers but it has great enemy and weapon design so it's all right.
It's probably not "great" but it is definitely "good",
shadow warrior
Some of the worst weapon design I've ever seen
The first three guns all look and sound like wet shit
I've never used a more unsatisfying shotgun (PLOONK is not what I want to hear)
Pokemon GO
I disagree OP
When it came out I was in highschool and had worked a whole summer at mcdonalds to buy a computer to play it at max settings.
I enjoyed the narrative heavy playstyle it established with the audiologs populating the world. It had plenty of jumpscares which were great and also managed to craft a very believable and chilling atmosphere.
Doom3 was a good game despite what you summer fucks want to portray it as
>I've never used a more unsatisfying shotgun
I think you mean the most inaccurate
you literally have to glue the barrel to the enemy to hit it
HUDless Doom 3 is a pretty stellar horror experience.
Shit Doom game, though.
Shotgun was great, It had a great click noise each time you pulled it out and make a solid boom.
It sounded like an actual shotgun, but you want something that sounds more cartoonish right?

A pretty interesting look at Doom 3.
I don't think people are necessarily saying Doom 3 is bad, just that it's not in ine with Doom 1 and 2.
would doom 3 remembered well if it was its own ip rather than doom
>le "game X2 has to be exactly the same as game X1 or else it's not game X" meme
>mods deleting threads about video games
Fuck off, valhalla-fags, get in here!
I said it wasn't in line with Doom 1 and 2, not that i wasn't a Doom game.
Your meme talk has hampered your ability to read.
I like Doom 1 and 2 for the fast action, powerful weapons, excessive violence, and delightfully shitty metal .midi soundtrack. Doom 3 doesn't offer that kind of experience in the slightest.
>stellar horror experience
You're armed to the teeth and the "scary" demons are mooks that you're supposed to mow down
All it has going for it in the horror department is lame jumpscares to instill momentary shock
No, it's just a shitty aping of System Shock and Half-Life
No, I think it would be better remembered if it either stuck harder to the horror aspect or went full on action. It's the weird half way point that turns some people off.
Tech Demo
Alright, fair, it's not scary at all. But it's atmospheric as fuck and to me, a good spooky atmosphere is all you need for a good horror/action title.
I guess I only say that because I just don't find myself scared by games these days, so "scare factor" isn't really a selling point to me anymore.
Doom 3 was absolutely terrible. Let it go, move on.
What WASN'T absolutely terrible about Doom 3? Besides the menu music and fucking great plasma rifle, at least they got those right
WAIT
A
MINUTE
Hell
Some of the PDAs were pretty funny
Super shotgun
>why is this game bad
pic related, point blank spread
>AR soundling like a playing card clipped to a bicycle wheel
>see something that looks like it might be a secret higher up
>instinctively try to rocket jump
>die
>see something that looks like it might be a secret higher up
>get to it
>pick it up
>outta nowhere 12 doors fly open revealing several legions of demons
The lighting, the audio, Hell, and some above average level design.
because its not. why the fuck all today treads are shitty bait from the start?
Fuck doom 3
I'm so glad I pre-ordered a non-meme game
RIP AND LE TEAR
>doom 3 lighting
Are you actually bitching about this? It's a small, out of the way nod to a stupid joke, calm your autism.
Also, stop using "le" in everything, it does the opposite of what you intending and makes you sound retarded.
How light reacts to the environment, and the shadow work was well done. I didn't say the game was well lit, however.
Hello betheshill
wtf that's a huge Snickers bar?
>anyone who disagrees is a shill.
Nice logic.
BFG edition has a flashlight in your suit, feels pretty good.
more of a tech demo than a game if you ask me
What does Sup Forums think of doom II?
I only played doom II. I saw Doom in the store but didn't have enough money on me
memers will call it bad because of muh level design, but it added so much fun monsters to the formula it's the real Doom experience
>My opinion is valid because I said so
Nice logic
Doom 2 has the same excellent gunplay of Doom 1, but it's level design is a mixed bag; some are pretty good, others are atrocious. It's one of the things that keeps me from really enjoying it like Doom 1.
Explain how it isn't.
The only new enemy I wasn't a fan of were the archviles, they feel a little strange for the run and gun pace of these games.
Great multiplayer design. Anyone who disagrees needs to play Doom deathmatch followed by Doom II.
Arch-viles are one of my favorite monsters ever. They're just so damn cool.
To each their own, I can see the appeal: they're unlike any other monster up to that point.
Doom 3 is amazing, retards keep hating it with passion, their loss.
Arch-viles are speedbumps, you pretty much need to shoot and then dive into cover to fight them. They're one of the few enemies that legit upset me, though, so they're cool.
>Shit Doom game, though
I keep hearing this meme over and over again, including discussions about recent Doom. Everyone is a specialist on what is a Doom game.
I think most people can agree that Doom 3 is the black sheep of the series, especially after the release of Doom 4.
Quake 4 is better than Doom 3, and no one likes that either.
Is it? I haven't revisited Quake 4 in years, but I recall preferring Doom 3 by a wide margin.
I love it. It's my favorite Quake game.
It's arguably the first meme game. I think it's fun but a lot of the levels feel like the devs just said whatever and came up with the goofiest shit they could think of.
quake 4 actually had running, shooting, and swarms of enemies unlike doom 3
>swarms of enemies
5 onscreen at the same time once every 20 minutes is not a swarm
It tried to portray the original game's "story" in a narrative game format very popular in the early 2000's (thanks, Half-Life!). The times were a bit too early for the post-ironic, self-aware approach, and there had been unimaginable graphical advancements since the last entry, a world apart, so I can't blame them too much for wanting to do a "serious" take of the IP.
I definitely don't think it's a great game, but my entire universe wasn't crushed by it's flop either.
Some food for thought.
youtube.com
Thats the average size of the BBS. Mars cannot even compete.
Doom 3 had vision. Doom 4 is them spending too much time figuring out how to pander to nostalgia faggots.
>Doom 3 had vision
tunnel vision, more like
Back in 2004 Doom 3 was state of the art shooter and a natural progression for Doom franchise. People disliked it for variety of reason (no constant flashlight, system requirements, etc) but nobody would say Doom 3 is not a Doom game.
Ayyyy, I see what you did there.
nah she is only around 2 feet tall
Doom 3 was just an excuse for Carmack to make a shiny new engine with great lighting while the team fumbled to make a self-serious Half-Life style Doom game to go along with it. D44M might be a bit schizophrenic with its direction (no thanks to the eternity the game spent in development hell going through revisions), but it's ultimately a solid painkiller style FPS with dumb amounts of Doom fan service.
Doom 3 redux is the best mod for the game, if only for the shotgun sound effect.
Or Carmack's shiny new engine was catered to the vision of Doom 3. It's writing, world building, graphic design are very consistent. They knew perfectly what they were doing.
>It's writing, world building, graphic design are very consistent
Very consistently dull and dry, the only memorable parts were the hammy villain scientist and that PDA explaining why there were chainsaws on mars
