>tutorials show up as you trigger the mechanics of the game
Tutorials show up as you trigger the mechanics of the game
>combat stops to show you how to use a new move
That's better than having an infodump at the beginning of the game or all at once like square does a lot
>it only does it once so you've fucked yourself but not reading it
>special edition character lacks the moveset to fight a boss properly
objectively worse than slogging you through the
>HEY FAGGOT PROTAG. USE (A) TO JUMP
>GUESS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU PRESS IT TWICE
>WOW THOSE ARE ENEMIES. MAKE SURE YOU DON'T GET MURDERED.
kek I hate that shit
>tutorial shows up that blocks enemy attack's telegraphing.
>take a break from a game
>come back to it some time later
>can't remember how to do anything
>can't look at the tutorials again
>new mechanic/move is never used again
>long text tutorial before you have any chance to use the mechanics so you have to just memorize what it said and figure out what the fuck everything meant while you play
>tutorial is links to youtube videos
>special edition character absolutely demolishes bosses
>no tutorial
>complex control scheme
>have to figure it out through looking at the controls in setting and trial and error
example?
Banjo Kazooie
Can't stand that
read the manual
shitty on rails section in resident evil 5
How low does your faith in your games gameplay have to be to include something so unrelated just so "spice it up"
every God of War ever
>no manual
>manual
this isn't 1990
more like
>read an online guide written exclusively in notepad
I'm not saying it's a bad thing.
>special edition doesn't answer the questions the original left
>no tutorial or mechanics explanation
>accidentally find out you can sprint in a rush of button mashing 4 hours into gameplay
Every move in your roster is used at least once in significant fashion in BK.
...
So close to quilts, and,
>makes even more questions
>tutorials for obvious shit you can figure out by pressing buttons
>keep advanced techniques totally hidden so much so that a player can complete the game and never discover them even if looking for more
>at least once
exactly?
Quints*
Well what kind of game has complex control scheme nowadays? Everything's consolized.
>game manual
>it's the size of a small book
Lady? What lady?
For what it's worth, the moves you learn the further you get along in the game are more niche (barring the shoes upgrades), but the moves you learn in Spiral Mountain/Mumbo's Mountain are all core abilities and are used all the way to the end of the game.
>Tutorial shows up after you figured the mechanic out yourself
>Add two-player mode to a one-player campaign
>Second player doesn't get QTEs that the first player uses to escape instant death
you a bitch ada
How is this bad, user?
It's not, I just posted the comfiest picture I could find on my desktop
Oh, ok, my bad.
>game tutorializes some abilities but not others
>you don't bother to use one move until way late in the game
>the tutorial for it still pops up.
>game doesn't show tutorials on highest difficulty
>game requires you to know a certain mechanic in order to proceed
>gives you a tutorial immediately after you figure it out
>tutorial character tells you to press the button to perform a move
>start up Forza
>same unskippable tutorials from previous games get thrown at you
>Do you already know how to perform this task?
>yes
>Tells you anyways
THEN WHAT WAS THE POINT OF ASKING?!? Fuckin hate that shit
