What's the matter, not photorealistic enough for you?

>game has cel-shaded graphics.

What's the problem?

that's cool

>Call game out for using cel-shaded graphics
>Kids attack you because they dont understand it's a way to put minimal effort into presentation and that in 2016 it is unacceptable

Jet Set Radio is 100x more visually appealing than Uncharted 4.

...

Good. Most the effort should be put into making the game fun to play, not making it look like real life.

>game has claymation graphics

Ultimate Spider-Man has aged wonderfully.

>game has realistic graphics

>game has cel-shaded graphics
>it ages like fine wine

The problem being?

...

>left is full of shit gameplay
>right has games with amazing combat
idk, i think the west stopped giving a shit about gameplay

This.

Holy shit I've been looking for this game for a literal decade and you triggered my memory
Thank you user

This nigga has good taste

Cel shading is the future. Eye candy > realism any time. Stay mad uncultured westaboo.

Now you don't know what to do.

Jack-O is so CUTE

There are different methods of cel shading and this one sucks absolute dicks. Especially with those awful and thick black lines.

I like the cel-shading they used in the PS2 SMT games.

What's wrong with black outlines?

I wish more games used Claymation. It can look super nice.

Netherhood and SkullMonkeys were pretty fun. Never played Boombots or Clayfighter 63, Kirby Rainbow Curse was eh, But had a fucking godly OST.

>star ocean 5
>amazing combat

>final fantasy XV
>hold down the attack button and occasionally hold down the dodge button.

I said they were awful and thick. Not all cel-shaded games have awful and thick lines, in fact most don't. Nothing wrong with the small ones that look okay.

Games with thick black outlines on everything look like shit. The line thickness needs to be adaptive to look good.
If all of the lines are too thick and there's a lot of objects on the screen the lines blend together and it looks messy,

Black outlines are mandatory with cell shaded graphic design because two color pallets on two different objects could be similar or same, making objects that are one in front of another look like they are merged together.

>adaptive
Is that even possible? A lot of cartoon style games have them and they're usually tiny as fuck especially at high resolutions. Uncharted's are fucking huge, I've only seen them anywhere near that size when some retard configures SweetFX poorly.

>Black outlines are mandatory with cell shaded graphic design
No they aren't you moron. The most recognizable cel-shaded games don't do it.

Maybe i didnt express myself right; they are mandatory if you dont want two objects to merge. They are easy way to do so.
Large color palette and their smart use on objects is another one. Also having more then one cut.

Also thicker lines are placed on faster moving objects if you want them to "do their thing".

See: Wind Waker. The game proving you wrong. 1 cut, no lines, small palette, no merging.

>3rd game in a series changes the artstyle to cel-shaded when 1 and 2 had a realism artstyle
>4th goes back to realism
This is why Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 is the best graphics-wise.

Don't give me PTSD thinking about Ninja Gaiden Yaiba or whatever.

Good god why did they do this?

>Wind Waker
Links feet can be barely distinguished from road on first island while hes still wearing blue shirt.

Are you just pretending to be dumb
