Cool I was in the thread yesterday. I'll start installing right now

How dead is this game?

Glad to hear it! Looking forward to having people to explore with.

Why is everyone on Crickhollow dammit. I can't leave Landroval.

Not dead at all. Less players than in its prime obviously but the community is of a decent size and quite active.

Default server is pretty much why I'm here.

I wish I bought a lifetime sub way back. Now if you want to get in this game, you have to spend like $600 to get the full package, plus membership.

Yeah i wish i did too. Also you don't have to spend near that much. All the quest packs and stuff are included in your standard sub.

whoa it's nowhere near that much

You could always just make an alt character on CH and play with us fresh. Your other character would always be waiting.

bumping for visibility while it downloads

Could always join the Discord while it downloads.

How much are subscriptions? Still 15?

15 monthly or cheaper if you do bulk

Discord is in the pastebin if anyone who's on the fence has questions.

i got like a 15 dorf guardian down for whatever

If you're on the Crickhollow server feel free to message me in game. I'll invite you to the kinship.

This download is gonna take ages.

is this game a WoW-clone?

Its interface is similar and some of the elements are definitely take from old WoW but it's not your average clone.

Who /skirmish/ here?

Haven't skinned in ages.

20%. Maybe i shouldn't have gotten the high res pack?

patching takes a long time regardless

See It's oddly reminiscent of EQ in how long patching takes.

can i gank with a rogue type character in this game?

Anyone just starting? I'd make a new Beorning to play along.

you can do anything!

ok todd

Mostly all PVE with PVP side areas.

I used to play this game with some bros from Sup Forums like 3-4 years ago. Great times. It was the 2nd "largest" MMO I played after WoW, and boy did it blow WoW out of the water in the graphics department.

Fantastic little game. I'd actually be down to play again if we get a group going on.

me and chroma are playing already, both around 15

oh hey I remember LoTRO. Never really got into it much though. Should I reinstall it? What's it like right now?

yeah we've already got a couple people together, i'm doing heavy amorsmithing and chroma is doing weaponsmithing sow e got that covered

Most people are just starting. I'm holding my level around 15 however to give people a chance to start playing

Rushing levelling takes away the magic of this game and the end game is very meh. So join the kin and find some people starting at the same time as you!

Ah, cool. Didn't fully read the OP. Yeah, I forget what I was leveling, I think it was leatherworking or something like that. I think my character is level 20.

Achievements no longer unlock traits. It's skill trees like WoW.

Join the discord or message me in game. Should have plenty of players together once everyone installs.

Community is still really friendly. Not as big as it used to be obviously but plenty of players still. Only qualm i have is they increased the pace and simplified the combat a bit but thats easy to get around.

Which server and kin?

Read the pastebin on the OP. Crickhollow and Brohalla's Chosen. Message me in game. My name is on the screenshots or my posts.

>Crickhollow

fug i dont think im on that server. that name doesnt ring a bell

we're not farr off from 20 and not really rushing to level either so that should work just fine.

i'm also saving all the crafting mats i find so everyone will have lots to work with

This game is comfy as shit.
>Walk out of your home
>Farm potatoes and other tasty veggies
>Make a complete Hobbit breakfast
>Have an after meal break with Pipeweed

Fuck going on adventures, who /comfy/ here?

oh, why Crickhollow? =/

Decent population, friendly people, and since most players here are new or returning server choice shouldn't matter that much.

Is there a particular class that would be helpful for you? Who else is with you? I'm considering a Hunter for myself.

It sucks because I can't transfer anymore. For some reason I can't buy tokens.

So what are the restrictions on the free mode

At this point in time anything is fine. We're just playing for fun and to enjoy the comfy nature of the game. End-game need not concern us. Pick what sounds fun to you and enjoy yourself!

Perhaps just start a fresh alt on this server? Fresh starts are always fun!

Paste bin in the OP has info on that. Give it a read.

50%, maybe I'll be able to play tonight.

While everyone is free to play at their own pace I highly recommend you take it slow and take time to soak in the atmosphere of this game. You won't regret it

Apparently notifications were disabled in the discord so if you messaged in there and didn't get a response check back. I've replied to those I didn't see.

Bumping

>I highly recommend you take it slow and take time to soak in the atmosphere of this game
Wow, rarely have I heard anyone say that with regards to an MMO. I wish there were more people in the game I played that shared your sentiments.

Oh shit I just got back into this since... shit, Mines of Moria. Had to start from scratch.

What's the best solo class? So far everyone seems to be saying either Beorning, Warden, or Hunter.

Just free watched the trilogy again after a few years. Holy shit, I unironically think it's better than original star wars. But Sam and frodo were definitely gay

>But Sam and frodo were definitely gay
Yeah but you still cried like a bitch at Sam's speech at the end of Two Towers.

Glad you feel that way! It rings especially true with LOTRO. The journey is what matters, not so much the destination.

Any class is easy to solo now IMO. They've simplified the combat a bit. I always though champs and captains were nice. I've never played a Beorning. Join the Discord and message me in game!

>But Sam and frodo were definitely gay
Nah bruh, it was just a deep platonic love /mutual respect for eachother.

Book Saruman on the other hand... well..

You can solo with any class now but once you figure out Warden you will be doing entire instances on your own.

Since I don't know how many people read the OP completely you can get more info or just hang out while the game downloads in the discord: discord.gg/fU9AP

I find it hilarious that no adaptation since the Bakshi films has tried to adapt this monstrosity.

Bree is comfy.

Also since someone asked earlier. There are no recommended classes for you to join the kinship. Our goal is to focus on the fun of the game, While we will certainly do end-game content if we last that long don't focus on that when picking a class now. Pick something that seems fun to you and enjoy your trip through Middle-Earth!

Almost done installing. Wew lads.

Every class is good. Except Rune Keeper. That shit's stupid.

So, how large is the overworld? Compared to, say, Azeroth, how big is it?

I can't say for certain. LOTROs world feels bigger to me but I don't know how valid that is. For some perspective this is the most zoomed out map, you can zoom in two more times. One area down has like 7 more areas each of which are their own big regions. Would be easier if I made a gif but i'm too lazy atm.

add me or Chromatika when you get on for the invite (remember choose Crickhollow)

Comfy AF boys.

oh wait that's not my name on this game, it's Haggarr

herp

well honestly my irritation is because I spent a lot of money on the game; cosmetics and several quest packs. I made a few back up character under a VIP sub (thereby having certain features unlocked for them) if I ever wanted to play that particular class. I never thought I'd have to transfer and focused all my characters on one server (Landroval). I was originally on Gladden but the community there is very shallow and full of cynicism. I asked around which server has a better community and the most common response was Landroval (Arkenstone being the worst).

Just like in wow i fucking hate how cloaks clip through capes or vice versa, it shouldnt be that hard to fix but noooooo. On another note I loved this game till it asked me to start paying for shit

vanilla wow was estimated to be about 80 square miles where as lotr was estimated to be about 30k square miles

It's a shame they they don't provide more detail on the lore behind each area, encyclopedia's and the like. There's so much history for all the areas in the Appendices.

Ah I feel you. Well it's up to you. So far the community on CH has been wonderful and I'm of the mind that it's a great place for new players to experience the game. If you decide to make a character here just let me know. Decision is yours to make!

>I loved this game till it asked me to start paying for shit
I hear this a lot, but what is it that you really need to buy that isn't optional (other than quest packs)? Most of the required things can be bought with TP (even the expansions).

>30k square miles
>30000
Damn. That's a pretty fair size.

I played when the game had a required monthly sub so i don't mind it so much because the sub mostly gets rid of any issues I have with the F2P model.

I agree. There's really nothing that you HAVE to pay for. Quest packs themselves are also optional content. I played way before those quests existed and had no issues so I don't think they're required.

What I did was waited until there was a huge sale. Got the 4 expacs before Helm's Deep & the Samwise pack for $12.50

What's so good about this MMO? I always hear it brought up in good MMO discussions, it always just looked like a typical theme park MMO to me.

For me it's the atmosphere. The game world is fleshed out so well, most of the quest lines thought out and meaningful, the music, etc.

It's not your typical MMO where you ignore what's going on in the world and just rush for gear, end-game content, or whatnot. You actually get invested in the world and feel at home.

At least that's my opinion on it.

The world is amazingly beautiful. Classes are pretty great, too. It's a good, comfy MMORPG in all honesty.

it's for the Tolkien and Middle Earth fans; a lot of care was put into it to make it as faithful to the source material as can be.

game crashed, restartign quick

Yeah play burglar
They also have a sick ass dice rolling debuff tree too

>There's really nothing that you HAVE to pay for.
Yet they really do need to somehow make a profit so it can continue.
Quest packs themselves are also optional content.
You'll be grinding to oblivion if not for the new quests ;/

Am I the only one who loved the Mirkwood mini expansion? That forest made me feel like I was playing Zelda.

Yeah it's mostly QOL stuff. The only thing really required I feel are expansions when you hit the levels where they begin. By then you could have racked up the TP needed to get them.

So who's in the process of installing or the like?

I'll download tonight and should be able to play tomorrow.

But it's a fucking awful game.

I hope you anons have your fucking wallets ready cause this shit takes more than it's fair share.

Other than the benefits of a subscription later on like any MMO I don't know of anything else I'd recommend spending real money on...

I'm installing still
Is warden still dial a combo? Are certain gambits stuck behind skill trees?

Yeah the gambit system hasn't changed all that much. Wardens are still fun.

Yep but now they're one man doomtrains that can bring down entire raids on their own. A skilled Warden Fellowship is nigh unstoppable in PvP without a fucking army.

Went to the wrong quest point with this bucket of water. Whoops.
