Anyone else don't play video games but watch other people play them? Instead of buying the newest 60$ game I go on Twitch to watch someone else play it for me. I get the same amount of enjoyment I do if I bought the game myself.
Anyone else don't play video games but watch other people play them...
No I'm not an /r9k/ reject like you
No I actually like video games
i only watch other people play after i finished it already and it features developer commentary or a speedrun or whatever
I wish I was a famous streamer/ecleb. But I still get panic attacks trying to play left 4 dead online.
Kill yourself.
Yeah nah that's pretty homo mate. Seek help!
>I get the same amount of enjoyment
Hahahahahaha-no hahahahahahaha
>enjoyment is quantifiable
I'm not OP I think he's a shithead but what you just said was completely fucking retarded
No, you piece of shit.
I watch a couple of minutes of let's plays and whatnot when I'm deciding if I should get this vidya or not. But beyond that, nah, thanks.
When I was younger, I really enjoyed watching my dad play Silent Hill and Resident Evil
Same here but it was Megaman X4 and Army Men 3D for me and it was just because I could not clear those games back then.
>You get the same amount of enjoyment when watching someone doing something pleasurable instead of doing it yourself
You sound like a top cuckold mate
...
It just baffles me that there are so many people like this. Why would you ever like to watch someone play a fucking video game instead of play it yourself?? Torrent the damn game.
I do it for modern movie games. Older games I just play, unless there's a reason to watch someone else play them like speedrunning or skillful play.
> Anyone else don't have sex but watch other people have it? Instead of paying a whore 600$ I go on Brazzers to watch someone else do it for me. I get the same amount of enjoyment I do if I fucked the broad myself.
Terrible analogy when 90% of you people are porn and masturbation addicts.
fuck off normalfag
Truly thinking man's choice.
that's the joke
I think my enjoyment of watching streamers and youtubers watch games comes from when I was a kid and had to share with my brother and sister and being the youngest I was usually the one watching.
This almost seems the same as... cuckoldry. Or some weird sense of voyeurism mixed with collectivist mindsets. Very much a follower mentality, who doesn't ever expect to get his.
I get how it could work mechanically, but I still think it's stupid, kind of disgusting, and not an internal tendency you should indulge in heavily. You have personal problems and either afraid of taking control, or have no power in your life and have maladaptively found a way to tell yourself you enjoy it.
The only way this can be spun as a positive thing is that you don't strictly dislike seeing other people succeed and having fun.
i watch games because i can do other shit while watching. If i play a game i have to give my 90%+ attention to it. Watching a stream is minimal attention so I can work on other stuff.
this
Watching two hours of cutscenes means you don't have to suffer through the monotony of climbing ladders, cover based shooting, and completing QTE events
Being sociable and having an interesting personality is infinitely more conducive for becoming a streamer/eceleb than being good at video games.
cuckoldry implies you have an ACTUAL intimate connection with one of the participants
just liking to watch is a different thing
i bet if you cut out the video game aspect of the whole thing and it was just a stream of somene going about their daily routine with an occasional watcher chiming in with a comment people would still watch it
reminds me of this one thing (maybe a social experiment) where some woman was living in some sort of outdoor room that people could peer into but she couldnt see out of
many people would line up to observe her and then one day it switched to some man doing what she was doing and the amount of gawkers fell off dramatically
Not me but my bf is the same. When we used to be kids he would watch me play too instead of playing himself.
I don't mind watching those QTE games like heavy rain on streams, I don't think I'd have the patience to play them but watching them is cool
Yes
only if it's shit like Telltale games or games that are extremely bad
May I ask how old you are? I truly don't understand the cult of the Youtuber/Streamer, and I think it's a generational gap thing.
>watch someone play it for me
>same amount of enjoyment
You might enjoy the streamer, but I doubt you like video games anymore.
>same amount of enjoyment
It's not the same. The twitch guy forms your opinion for you.
faggot
I wonder about this too. I can never stand watching a stream yet my teenage brother does this all the time and is around the same skill level as me in most games if not better.
I wonder how many "tired gamers" watch more streams than play games
>projecting this hard
OP I totally feel you on this unlike these other meanies. But my reason is because I'm super broke, dont own any gaming PC or consoles after ps2 and n64. My roomate buys alot of genisis games and I just play those and watch overwatch streams every once and a while.
Had a 360 for awhile but left it with a friend for awhile, dont really care. I can't buy vidya because id just spend too much time playing it
I get ya op
There are only 2 streamers I watch, one only plays LoL and the other only steams for 1 week every 1-2 months. Also I will only watch games that I have already played or never plan on playing.
It is so hard to find people I enjoy watching.
I'm not the OP but I'm 28 and I'll watch LPs of games I've already beaten or just don't want to play. I remember seeing an LP for Silent Hill 2 and stopping it so I could play the game first, which was for the best. I can't stand how people go out of their ways to spoil themselves for a game.
There's a really good developer commentary for Ratchet and Clank 2 and 3 on YouTube, shits actually pretty eye opening.
And watching porn is just as good as having sex I swear!
we have an entire generation that watches vlogs, let's plays, and review videos as their main source of entertainment and they actually think their options are their own. Sad!
>Sad!
Stop cuckposting
if you're not part of this generation, then you're too old to be posting on this board without it being more sad

kek
i do this for most major releases now
fuck spending $100+ on games now
>be a streamer
>dont have obnoxious overlays
>dont scream in the mic all the time
>hard to grow channel
>every game i feel like streaming is overcrowded
You probably don't have a personality conducive to streaming. Not every good/popular streamer is "lul so randumb xD". There are a lot of normal guys just playing games and being themselves who are moderately successful.
fuck
streaming sucks your soul anyways
i did it on and off for a year, whenever i had time. overall i'd say i put in 200 hours of streaming and got 20 concurrent viewers. I ignored hanging out with my friends because I wanted to finish 1 more run since i had viewers watching. Realized it's not healthy for my life and quit it. Now i just do it for the lulz after my account got banned after being hijacked from twitch data leak.
>tfw get one viewer if im lucky
>have to viewer snipe to get a decent amount
>the way i do it is against twitch ToS
i dont understand why its bad
people get to see a game they like and i get viewers
I only watch twitch for speedruns and for story games that I'm interested in but don't want to spend money on.
>tfw 5 months till the next GDQ
>tfw GDQ's have been geteting less and less comfy
still nice for background noise
makes me feel less lonely...
