Why do you guys think this is better than the Souls games? I've played the shit out of DaS1 through 3 and want more, may pick up a used PS4 for BB if you guys can convince me

If you like Lovecraftian stuff they did a godly job with visuals and the story. (Story is better than all souls game IMO)
I finished it 5 times within a week once. It's that good
Chikage bloodtinge builds are godly
The DLC is the best in any souls game.
The soundtrack is the best of any souls game

Coop is fun but PVP is shit if you're not playing against someone from let's say /vg/ who will not chug blood vials
Atmoshpere is fucking awesome
You can parry some bosses, giving you that badass feel
you can eat fucking umbilical chords
Whats a decent chikage bloodtinge build ?
If you still want more Dark Souls after 2, and 3 (especially 2), you'll fucking love BB.
50 BLT
45 VIT
10 END/STR
15 SKILL/ARCANE
here's my char
You looks like Jack Marston.
It doesn't worth it. It may be best game on ps4, but it still doesn't worth buying a console.
BB > DaS > Nioh demo > DaS 3 > DeS > DaS 2 > Salt and Sanctuary > Not playing videogames > Lords of the Fallen
Good list but the last 3 werent necessary
I've played all the souls games multiple times but one of the main reasons I love Bloodborne so much is because it just stands out from the main franchise.
I know that sounds like some generic, vague answer but everything just feels like a breath of fresh air after playing the souls games(which I love dearly)
Specific reasons would be
Fantastic lore
Brilliant settings/atmosphere
Some of the best boss fights in the series(Final boss in Bloodborne is my favorite of any Souls game)
IMO better combat
It's worth it OP
Its dark souls 1 in terms of open world map that connects new locations to old ones with faster arguably better combat
no weight and you can use whatever you want so long as you have the stats for it and all the weapons have their own unique "trick" to them
I don't know whether it would be worth getting a ps4 for it (I already had one) but it is better than all the souls games. The combat, levels, and bosses are the best, with no bad levels or bosses.
my only complaints is that it was pretty easy and a little short
>beta in a matter of weeks
Cannot wait to nippon banzai through the whole new levels. I wonder if there'll be any new weapons beyond 2kat and superior firearms, and if the ox will actually have it's own picture.
Anyway OP, if you enjoyed any of the Souls games you will almost definitely enjoy Bloodborne. As everyone else has said it's essentially Souls but in a fresh new setting with very unique weapons and at a faster pace.
str fag here
bloodborne is built around dex but it's still my favorite
Pros
>Atmosphere is better then Souls
>Combat is tight enemies are decent
>More coherent story that's far more interesting to discover.
Cons
>24 FPS on a good day
>Multiplayer is trashed
>No covenants
>Game is fairly short and ends just as it's getting good
>Chalice Dungeons have maybe 5 good ones and rest are filler shit.
>Low weapon variety
>Alien space magic would of fit in perfect but is nearly useless
>Exclusive game
Let's just say that you can't truly enjoy unless you already finished it once and do a detailed second playthrough while making big efforts to uncover the story (or be a lazy fuck like me and watch fungo lore videos on YT)
Also learn all boss patterns
Only then will you experience the right kind of bloodborne playthrough
I liked salt and sanctuary better than my time with dark souls 2 to be honest, there was a lot less content though.
Is Nioh that enjoyable? I look forward to the full release.
BT is the real OP builds
This.
Except for
>you can eat fucking umbilical chords
You don't eat them, you put them inside your brain because you need more eyes and those give you just that
Lore and story in this game is amazing. It's more cryptic and veiled than in any souls, but is deeper and more well-thought in my opinion
Now that the DLC is out it has ascended beyond must play status for anybody who is a fan of the Souls games.
I love love craft and I love how fast and brutal it is at first but then you get used to it. I would say that it is better than the whole soul series. The lady Maria boss fight was so good. I was stuck on Ludwig for days. I fucking loved every moment. Not many games me feel alive anymore but BB did. Playing DAS3 after it was weird because it DAS3 was so easy.
There are convenants though. Few yes but there are covenants.
Game is lenghty enough including the DLC.
It's between Bloodborne and DS3 for soundtrack for sure.
Nioh is hit or miss
I played DaS for the first time this year and finished BB yesterday
When I finished DaS the first thing I wanted to do is uninstall
When I finished BB I wanted to start another playthrough
Maybe it was because of the story, or because it was easier, or DaS might just be a bit dated for me. idk
youtube.com
Living failures theme is godlike
When they summon the Cosmos and there's arcane meteors falling from space holy shit
DS3 has many influences from BB tho
>BB
>Hiporean Gaol soundtrack
Gives me shivers every time, my absolute favorite location in the game, from how you get there to the last corners, so fucking creepy holy shiet
>DS3
>Alternative hub theme after you gave firekeeper the eyes
I actually teared up at this moment, so depressing and beautiful, and so fitting to this particular ending. My favorite moment in DS3
if you like das you'll hate it wait for das 3 dlc
What the fuck are you talking about
There are no covenants, allowing you to put on a 4th rune, giving you an extra ability and doing some NPC questline is not a covenant.
Game was shorter then DS1, they used Chalice Dungeon to try and fluff it up but it's still short.
Chalice Dungeon is not DLC. I was talking about the actual DLC.
I never said they were DLC. They were filler for vanilla game. If they had decided to another 3-6 hours on the game and cut the Chalice Dungeons no one would of even noticed and the game would of been better for it.
I agree
Still on my top 3 GOAT though.
I liked chalice dungeons. Yeah it's pretty tedious and doesn't really add to main story and its vibes, but god damn lower levels are actually hard and it has some of the best bosses
But I gotta agree, if instead they added another chapter in the main game it probably would've been better. Just look how fucking marvelous dlc came out
Gomenasai.
>Low weapon variety
I'll give you there was too many, I don' even think it broke 30. But most of the weapons were unique, aside from the two cleavers. And two church weapons where longswords. But a longsword turning into a hamner and a longsword turning into a greatsword is a tad bit more variety than shit like Pike vs Lothric Long Spear, especially when both swords have different tranformation attacks, builds, and playstyles.
Trick weapons is granted the best game mechanic in all souls games.
I don't know, I love the Loran dungeon and some of those enemies that were a tad bit too out of place for the main game, like the guys with the weird moving animation who could swing a corpse at you to inflict frenzy.
Best story of the series by a landslide.
Great enemy designs.
Weapon movesets are interesting and very intricate compared to Souls games.
Incredibly high level of challenge, probably highest in the series, though not all of it is fair.
Fastest paced game in the series by far.
It's not my favorite, I much prefer Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 1 to everything else, but it's a great game, better than DaS 2 and 3.
Lower levels were just fucking jacked up numbers, it was the most tedious shit in the game.
LEL I KNOW YOU BREEZED THROUGH THAT LAST DUNGEON user BUT THIS TIME ALL THE ENEMY'S HP AND DAMAGE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLIED BY 5, HAVE FUN WHACKING GENERIC BEASTMEN 10 TIMES WITH YOUR FULLY UPGRADED WEAPON ON A CHARACTER WITH 40 STRENGTH AND STILL NOT KILLING THEM
#YOUDIED
who /proud knight of Catarina/ here?
get the fuck out with your shitty DaS OC
I really didn't notice mostly since I saved a good bit of the chalice dungeons till late game, so I thought it'd be pretty dissapointing if I was just one shotting everything.
However fuck the abhorrent beasts, the darkbeast, the hotdog, and especially the hotdog. More challenging than Ludwig
>Shill to the max
dude come on, the game is ok but not worth buying a console over, parrying bosses is a bad thing, soundtracks does not mean shit especially when you wont be hearing it over the rest of the games audio
also "godly job with visuals and the story" visuals are on par with rest of series and the game runs at a unstable 30 fps, story is good tho
Forgot this one:
>Most bosses are boring as fuck
Which is a goddamn shame, considering it has such a well of good Lovecraftian boss ideas to draw from. Oh well, guess we'll have to settle for like 5 wolf-beast bosses.
I'd say it's better, yeah. But it's better in way that's also quite different from Dark Souls outside the core gameplay.
Its worth it if you can afford it and your favorite hobby is video games. I'll leave it at that.
>enter the dungeon
>one-shot trash mobs
>descend one level
>can't one-shot them with descend one level
>3 strikes required
>descend one level
>5 strikes required
>descend one level
>10 strikes required while they almost one-shot you back
Yeah stat scaling in first 3 layers is pretty gruesome, and still is in the last layers, only by then it doesn't matter much because every enemy has a ridicilous hp pool, so you're used to it.
I think I remember somebody of the devs saying that layer 5 dungeons are equal NG+4 or some shit.
Nioh is shaping up to be really fuckin good, if the Alpha is any indication. If the idea of a game with Souls inspired reward and punishment philosophies, a far more intricate and deep combat system where "stamina" management is actually key to survival along with Ninja Gaiden based encounter design, and a random loot system fueling your desire to continue and replay in search of all manner of neat new weapons. The Beta is coming this 23rd, I fully recommend trying it out, although it's had some work done since the Alpha.
This is my spiritfu etc. Is it time again for a Nioh thread?
I'd say it is, since the beta's in two weeks from tomorrow! You good to make it, though? I'm not at home and the place I'm at seems to have fallen under a range ban.
The setting and levels are great. Trick weapons though are definitely the highlight of the game. The bosses though are just okay overall. Its also not optimized well. Its between Das 1 and 2 in that regard. And lately I've been crashing a lot, but I think thats a problem more with the PS4 itself
Sure, this'll actually be the first one I've made myself funnily enough. You cannot ban a samurai's soul.
Bloodborne had far better themes/setting, faster gameplay, cooler and more fun and versatile weapons, but the multiplayer was shit and chalice dungeons needed more work.
I really fucking hope they do an updated version of chalice dungeons for DS3.
The combat and weapons are what push it above the Souls games for me.
Trick weapons are sick, and (with a few exceptions) each one feels unique.
Chalice Dungeons and gem farming are a love-hate relationship.
Admittedly, Bloodborne is probably the weakest in terms of NPCs and side-quests (there's a few but they're not that amazing). The bosses are hit and miss, too. Some are really great, others are pretty boring.
Hindsight is 20/20, I should have had that in the OP.
Also Blade of Mercy is best of mercy.
Eileen the Crow is probably my favorite NPC quest in the series, but the rest are admittedly not spectacular.
>not "beast cleaver is best cleaver"
がっかりした
Also post your hunter, everyone!
Eileen the Edge quest is nice yeah with bonus of probably the hardest encounter in entire main game. It also is a perfect test for whether you got gud or not, because last time I killed the blood crow the first try being severely underleveled. And jesus christ how I hated him on my earlier playthroughs.
I also like that one beast npc I forgot his name. I still haven't decided which is more fitting lore-wise - killing him or letting him kill everyone in the chapel.
I too use the beast cutteralong with kirkhammer
And your hunter pretty much looks like mine as well.
lorewise it would probably be sending him to Iosefka
but always, always kill him so you get that sweet dialogue.
You haven't lived until you've done a combo of over 10 hits. Beast Cutter is cool too though.
Guys, Rom is fucking killing me.
So many fucking spiders in one chalice dungeon room
the fuck man.
Hey fuck you you stupid baby dick bitch knock knock who's there it's your girlfriend know you're a faggot good
summon the helper buddies
there's usually two on levels where Rom is
Sasuga.
>Have you got a screw loose? Or is it your... animal intuition?
And his rant in transformed form aaahhh... Shivers every time
Because its exclusive. And clearly it wasnt better if the game was and is dead shortly after it released. Even DaS3 being as bad as it was still managed to put the final nail in the coffin because thats how the Souls community works, they always jump to the newest game. The only games that seem to have a community thats still alive is the latest souls and DaS1.
Kill the spiders
Equip an non-upgraded saw cleaver or go bare fist
Pop a Beast Blood Pellet
Build up beast meter by whacking Rom's head
Switch to main weapon and go to town
Doesn't work if you're running an Arc build tho
hi
Not this guy, but if you are doing arc build then go thunder damage. This should work well enough.
>magic is useless
ARC is strong as fuck now though.
I basically bought a PS4 for BB and yeah, it was worth the 1200~ hours I've dropped on it so far. The fact that the multiplayer is still so active gives me hope that I'll have years to go until the community dies.
Do people still play DeS? I'd love to get back into that, too.
>Go STR+ARC
>Logarius Wheel
>Wreck shit up with terrible terrible damage
It's almost as good as BLT build, but definetly more fun to mess around with
I replayed DeS during the Christmas break last year and got invaded only once, from memory.
I heard some rumbling here a few months ago about the servers being shut down, but I don't know how true that is.
Bloodborne is simply more fun to play. The combat blows all the souls games out of the water. Boss fights are all pretty decent, although there aren't many of them. Plus lovecraft is neat.
>99 arc
>Blacksky Eye and Augur everything
Its ridiculous how easy it still is to get Kin mode L2 kills.
More than in DaS3, iirc.
Pretty accurate tier list.
Parryable bosses like Gascoigne, Gherman, and Lady Maria is what ruined the boss fight. Especially Lady Maria, its like two completely different boss fights if you decide to parry her or not.
Is there some kind of reliable weapon tier list for PvE? I'd like to decide on a build/weapon before I get too far in so I don't end up regretting my choice and restarting the whole thing.
I started with the hunter's axe but didn't really like it too much. I think I want a faster weapon that can output some good damage but I'm not sure what to go with and what to build. The Reiterpallasch seems kinda cool but maybe it's a bad weapon?
Pretty much every weapon is viable for PvE.
Bare fist < Everything else
I'm sure everything is viable but I'm also willing to bet there's at least a weapon or two that's total trash.
I played through DaS3 with what ended up being a shit weapon and it kinda fucked up the game for me and made some bosses terrible to fight
Anything with serrated damage hits beasts like a truck and is thus very good. See: Saw Cleaver, Saw Spear; Whirligig Saw.
The Hunter's Axe is actually quite solid and Ludwigs is fantastic
>a weapon or two that's total trash.
no. you have only very few weapons to pick from, so there are no trash weapons when talking pve
some arw better than the other but none of them is trash
For a great (and insanely fun) weapon that's good for newbies check out Whirligig Saw, aka the Pizza Cutter
really as far as I'm concerned the only shitty weapon is Beast Claw. Low damage, low range, it sucks.
I played up to Ng+6 soooo..
>Ds3 Soundtracks
Iudex Grundyr
Vordt of the Boreal Valley
Deacons of the Deep
Abyss Watchers
Dragonslayer Armour
Oceiros the Cosumed King (sorta mix on this)
5 Shot Yhorm
Lothric Princes
Soul of Cinder
>BB Soundtracks
Lady Maria
Gherman the First Hunter
Ludwig
Laurence the First Vicar (god that violin theme when he's about to die makes you feel bad. Gives BB some bonus points)
Living Failures (droppin some arcane asteroids)
Just naming memorable soundtracksm
>mfw finally playing Demon's Souls
Why didn't you fuckers tell me this was the best Souls game?
everything I like about DaS1 only not insultingly piss easy
Pro tip: if you arnt 3-shotting the trash mobs of an area hour are underpowered.
This includes Depth 5 chalice dungeons, if you use correct damage types (blunt is a shit) and keep your gems up to date then the relative health of enemies isn't any worse than the first few areas of the game.
From also intended players to be level 150+ when doing Depth 5 dungeons, but you can easily get through at anywhere past about 80.
What weapon would that be anyway? Also there's no reason not to have at least two weapons you use in any Souls game.
I've got fully upgraded weapons and my stats aren't shit.
Gems are faggoty and I don't want to have to farm for them.
Despite having lackluster NPC quests, Bloodborne has the best voice acting in the series for me.
> Michalosh's memetastic speech
> Alfred's "insides on the outside" rant
> Valtyr's absolute passion for crushing Vermin
> Suspicious begger's transformation
They all send shivers down my spine even after countless playthroughs.
What I liked about it is the game encouraged me to go full aggressive on enemies and bosses. I finally started playing through Dark Souls 2 and I noticed I'm using my shield most of the time and not taking chances like I would in Bloodborne. Blood borne is relatively fast too and I really enjoy that not to mention the setting is personally a lot more interesting than demon souls/Dark souls 1 & 2. A bit off topic but I see a lot of people saying that dark souls 3feels a lot more like blood borne but I wanna know in what way?
By depth 5, even without farming a single gem you should have a bunch of decent ones.
If you are just going to ignore a ~60% damage increase, then yeah, your going to feel underpowered.
I've played through the game 3 times and the best I ever found was 30%.
How do you guys feel about the Threaded Cane?
Useless but cool
Any other early skill weapon I can use?
